Remember the Following

  • All approved overtime in excess of the hours required of an officer by reason of the officer’s regular duty, whether of an emergency nature or of a non-emergency nature, shall be compensated for at the rate of time-and-one-half. Such time shall be computed on the basis of completed fifteen (15)-minute segments. (Section 20.2)
  • An officer who is in pay status for six (6) or seven (7) consecutive days within the pay period Sunday through Saturday will be compensated at the rate of time-and-one- half for work performed on the sixth (6th) day and seventh (7th) day. An officer who performs work on a regular day off which has been canceled, will receive a minimum of eight (8) hours compensation or compensation at the rate of time-and-one-half times the actual hours worked, whichever is greater. (section 20.3)
  • Changing your start time by more than 2 hours entitles you to additional overtime compensation according to FOP Contract Section 20.7. We believe you fill out two slips - one for the OT and one for the Change of Start Time with a notation of "FOP 20.7" in the narrative, but we might be mistaken.
Of course, Tact, Gang, Mounted, 001/018 Foot Routes and an entire laundry list of other Units specifically exempted from compensation can be located at the contract link above, due to their being "volunteers" for their assignments. Sorry about that.

Just because you have your day off cancelled doesn't mean you are the one detailed to the mayham. Details are separate in the contract and all officers that are bid to districts the detail will be by seniority according to the contract. Call FOP let them know to contact the city on that one.

Every employee is entitled, after giving notice, to two hours off work, provided that the employee's working hours begin less than 2 hours after the opening of the polls and end less than 2 hours before the closing of the polls.

Voting Hours: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m

If your RDO was 11/4 you maybe did not early vote which closed yesterday.

Keep in mind if your RDO cancelled this does not apply. Don't shoot me I'm only the messanger.

Will the recruits from the Academy be forced to work unarmed at Grant park? Crowd control or traffic control?

Recruits Unarmed should not be out in this stuff. They should be at the Academy providing coffee, food, parking lot security, building security for the real police. How could anyone be so dumb as to send out newbees unarmed into a potential fiasco?

Almost all units fall into this category. This includes TRU, Mounted, Tact, Gangs, Saturation, Vice, Gang Intel, etc...

On another note, a poster asked if the recruits in the academy will be deployed. The likely answer is yes. They have done this numerous times before. We, the experienced guys and girls, need to watch out for these kids. They have no weapons and they have no idea of how to handle things yet. Watch their backs and make sure that they know you've got them covered. Also, watch your own backs. It is going to be crazy, no doubt. It could be crazy in a good way, nothing goes wrong and the city, Shortshanks, J-Fed, and Bamama end up smelling like roses. The reality is there is the potential and likelihood that it will go bad and go bad to epic proportions. The variety of things that could happen are endless, shootings and murders, rapes, riots and looting too name a few. Then there is the terrorism factor to consider. Backpack bombs on several CTA trains, a gas tanker truck barrelling down LSD, a couple small private airplanes stolen from some rinky dink rural airport. It has the big potential to go bad. Be ready for anything, have all your shit ready, gas mask, riot gear, weapons with extra ammo, water, food (cereal bars and energy bars), even a change of clothes and uniform. If we pull this off and no one dies, we,the cops on the ground, will have done our part. Good luck to all, be safe, watch those hands and God bless and save America.

I would think recruits (if we have any) would be assigned to lock-ups or district desks to free up bodies for the street.

Daley should be more concerned with what little Luis gang banging Gutierrez has to offer to the Feds than a million socializing dregs!

Good luck on getting the pay for
7 days worked in a Sunday to Saturday work week.

Post 9/11/01 I worked 11 days straight and was told by the union that they were not going to grieve it on my behalf. They said that due to the circumstances (9/11) I should take one for the team. I pointed out that it was not a declared emergency by the mayor, which is an exception to the rule.
It when in one ear out the other.

That's why district law, ie beat cars, are not working the twelve hour shifts.

0756 am. Recruits being used ? You're going to be detailed to this one way or another, whether your armed or unarmed. I wish you all the best out there.

TO ALL P.O.’s:

Please vote Tuesday and vote NO to the Constitutional Convention. Our pension is in article five of the constitution. Daley could never get it changed on his own, but as part of an overhaul of the whole Constitution he could force all new hires into a 401K.

The "no" side of this issue includes former Gov. Jim Edgar, a Republican; former Comptroller Dawn Clark Netsch, a Democrat; and labor and business organizations.

If Fitzgerald would indict Blagojevich this issue would have never grown legs. Rezko sentencing was delayed to keep from embarrassing Obama. Patrick Quinn is using the con con issue to catapult himself into the lead of contenders for the next election if Blago goes to club Fed.

Please vote no and ask every family member and friend to vote no too!

And vote no for Judge Clay also!

T.R.P.

Actually, Obama's campaign fund has issued a special event number to be affixed to your CE slip. That's why the city does not care about cancelling RDOs.

You might want to read the AMFM message. Because thats exactly HOW it reads. The people who had their day off canceled should standby to be notified of their post.

Regarding anonymous comment about every employee is entitled to two hours. That only applys to civilian employees.
