Fundraiser Venue Change
- Due to unforseen circumstances out of our control, the Windy City Veterans Annual Fundraiser had it's venue changed at the last minute. This fundraiser is extremely important because it benefits the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. These veterans sacrificed when called to do so and now we ALL need to show our support for these brave men and women. We are a community based veterans group made up of veterans both peacetime and war.
The cost of admission is $25.00 which covers the cost of food, beverages, music and entertainment.
Our fundraiser is no longer at TR's Pub. We are now having the fundraiser at BEVERLY WOODS located at 11532 S. Western Ave. The time will still be 6:30-11:30pm on NOVEMBER 7th 2008.
Many of our members are CPD officers and veterans. We are always helping other causes...especially military and police related.
Thank you for assisting us in getting the word out in such a short length of time.
Respectfully Yours,
Martin Tully
President of the Windy City Veterans Association

Marty,
You crazy SOB! God Bless You!!
Great Bunch of Guys & a Reasonable admisson fee. Other Charitable Organizations should take a cue from them.
I worked for Marty's grandfather and his father worked for me.
I don't know him, but if he is anything like them, anything he supports will be given one hundred and ten percent attention and done well.
In case you wonder,
not one penny goes to anyone other than disabled veterans.
the windy city vets has no costs delegated or attached for administrative reasons.
the proceeds go to the veterans home in Manteno, Ill. the same month, in fact, this year they will be donated on 15 Nov. 08.
it's a proud and little known organization with a giant heart.
the old guys are asking for the newer younger returning vets to join up so the tradition can continue
Go Purple Shades!!!! God Bless Our Veterans
Marty, I think what you guys are doing for veterans is great. You were a standup guy in 006 and when you went to MSF I was genuinely happy for you. At least you have proven you will work.
It will be an honor to attend your fundraiser. Be safe in MSF.

Hey Kid,
Aren't you a little young to be calling yourself the President of the Windy City Vets? I viewed your pictures. What are you 20? You haven't seen enough to be a real veteran or President. How are you able to lead the organization?
You aren't an oldtimer, so how in the hell did you become President of one of the longest running vets groups in the City?
I'm not going to attend simply because I am older and wiser. Your generation has no respect for my generation or any other. Circumstances out of control? Sounds like you did piss poor prior planning son. Don't try to kid yourself. Don't be trying to piss on my back and tell me it's raining. You follow me?

Tully,
I worked with you in 009 years back. Man, the crazy stories I could go on about you! You always had a good head on your shoulders. You could always be counted on. Even back then, I remember you caring about veterans. Some things never change...
Good luck on your fundraiser!!! Knowing you and your caliber, I am pretty confident you will pull it off despite the venue change.
Be safe. Oh...and for the love of Pete, please watch your ass in MSF.

That's why many younger veterans turn away in disgust from the 'established' groups. Too many who say 'youse got it too easy', or who automatically discount any other's sacrifice because they feel it diminished their own.
Leatherneck- I know enough history to know you probably faced some tough s***, but have the decency that anyone who called themselves a Marine has to acknowledge the efforts of those who are standing up to help others. Have you talked to a Marine or Soldier who's been 'over there' recently?
To old leatherneck, Maybe you don,t remember but I do. The old WWII guys said the same thing about us when we went to the VFW & American legion halls in the 70's. God Bless any person who helps a Vet, young or old. Thanks Tully I don't know you but don't let one bitter leatherneck stop your organizations good work. Leatherneck Iam sure you can send a check to another worthy veterans organization who has one of our generation as a president and brother Tully will be just as happy. Leatherneck 70-71
Marty, keep your chin up about the change of venue. Christ, I don't know how you can lead the Windy City Vets, volunteer time, work in CPD's MSF and handle a family. You're a better man than me. Shit, I'm coming down with some type of BLUE flu......
I will be attending your fundraiser. I know you don't do things half-assed, so I am fully prepared to have a grand old time. You threw a great party last year, so I am confident you will again.
One thing bothers me! You were in SOS and it disbanded. You got thrown to 006 and now you went back? ARE YOU SERIOUSLY CRAZY? Say it ain't so bro? Good luck in SOS 2.0, or whatever they call it. You will need it.....take it from one who said "NO" when asked to return...J-Fed will forget you!

Marty, count me in!
Old Leatherneck,
I am sorry you feel that I am not worthy of leading the Windy City Veterans Association. Truth is, that after I returned from the war in Afghanistan, I was approached by senior officers in the Association who asked me to run for the office of President. I'll admit I had my reservations at first, but I believe in the Windy City Veterans Association and what we stand for. I accepted the nomination and I won.
I have been the President of WCVA since May 2007. I have proudly led my guys and gals from the front. You wouldn't believe how many service related funerals I have attended since I took office.
The oldtimers like yourself have witnessed my active recruiting of new members. I have brought in over 70 new members. Not ALL of them are young guys either. Quite a few are Viet Nam era vets like yourself! I was asked to bring in the younger blood and that is exactly what I have been doing.
I do understand the commitment and sacrifice of being a veteran. I would never diminish what you accomplished in Viet Nam. My grandfather was an Infantry officer in World War 2. My father was a Green Beret in Viet Nam. To say I don't care about your generation is wrong.
May I make a suggestion? If you don't want to donate to our fundraiser at least donate to the Chicago Police Marines Association. My good friend Scott Dinga would be glad to have you in his ranks. If you're not the police, then I would recommend the Canaryville Veterans, VFW Post 450 Alsip, IL or any other number of posts.
Bottom line is our organization will continue to thrive as long as veterans join us. We've been around since the early eighties and it is my desire to keep that tradition going boldy ever forward. With all due respect, I established myself as a career Army soldier. I led troops over in Afghanistan as a Captain OPCONed to the 25th ID LRSD-D. I am not in my 20's and I believe I've done a good job at keeping my fellow soldiers and police officers safe. I strongly believe in helping Manteno veterans.
With all due respect...Lead, Follow or Get the hell out of my way!
Respectfully Yours,
Martin E. Tully
President Windy City Veterans Association
Kudos Purple Shades!!!! See you on the 7th!
Marty, thanks for sending the Old Leatherneck our way. Although, judging his attitude, I'll bet he won't even join a Marine organization. His loss. Hang in there and have a great fundraiser.

p.s Now that you are in MSF...remember, trust only yourself and you will be OK.
