The Mobile Strike Force will do nothing to stop the murder rate and the MSF will never be able to act as the old SOS did. Times have changed and when SOS was out there they made a lot of great arrests mostly guns and drugs but it never did much for the murder rate (and that is not a knock against SOS). SOS was around when the murder rate was at 600-900 murders. So we will just have a downsize version of TRU. TRU was called baby SOS now MSF will be called baby TRU. TRU will disbanned and the murder rate will hit 600 next year. Then Jody will say bring back TRU. This whole thing is a joke. The answer is that the city needs to take the handcuffs off. No matter if you push a beat car around or you are in a unit we need to be able to take the steets back and have the department and the city have our backs then and only then will Chicago not be the murder capital of the U.S. No unit will make as much of a difference as an entire police department being on the same page. You must ask yourself, what did you really expect when you demanded that we start treating savages like real people? Did you really think that they would start acting like human beings?
Unless your head is in the sand, you know that we are in a constant fight pitting good against evil on the streets of Chicago. We, the men and woman of the Chicago Police Department , are the only buffer between the two and you, all of the above, have chosen to castrate us.
You don't back us up, your legal system punishes us for doing proacitve police work and you have a zero tolerance for some officers while other "chosen ones" are allowed numerous mistakes without punishment. You know exactly what I mean by that, so don't try to deny it.
Now, I won't say that all officers are smart enough to make the decision to back away from proactive police work, but a large majority of us have. We have chosen to protect ourselves because you no longer do. I know you'll blame us, but remember that many of the "bad apples" used clout to skirt the hiring process, again the responsibility of the above mentioned parties.
Now that I have gotten that off my chest I offer you the opportunity to make things right. First, take off the gloves. Let the police be the police. To be blunt, Big brother don't know shit about being the real police, and he really shouldn't want to know.
Second, I speak for all city workers who have children. We need a raise so that we can stay ahead of the ridiculous level of inflation being placed on Chicagoans ie property, sales and wheeel taxes. As police officers most of us know that we cannot send our childred to public schools if we actually expect them to succeed in life. The cost of education is very high, therefore we need more money. If not, just let us move out so that we can have a chance. Being forced to live in the City that has been designated as having the highest tax rate in the country is burdensome to us and should be an embarassment to you.
Third, to Mayor Daley specifically. You may have been forced to hire a fed to be our superitendant, but as you and everyone else can see, this has failed horribly. It's time to bite the bullet and can this jerk. He has shown that he cannot lead and has not idea how to run a large police department. If you were not forced to hire him then you must admitt that your decision has failed and move on. The morale on this departement is so low that no one wants to do anything for you or the city.
It's not too late though, we can come back and be the department that you want. One that is proactive, that fights crime and protects the citizens of the City of Chicago, but we need to know that you and the rest are backing us up. Remember, most cops want to put bad guys away, it's their nature to do so, but the current legal environment discourages it.
Start with the raise, then fire the jackass, then send the message that you have our backs through the media. If you do this we will go back to doing our jobs the way we know how and the way we should.
Before you know it guns will be taken off the streets again, street stops will commence, search warrants will be written again, and the homicide rate will fall. We will take back the streets from the thugs.
If not, we will end the year and head into the next carrying the designation of the highest homicide total and the highest tax rate in the same year; what a grand designation indeed. And remember this all occurred on your watch, now that will be quite an epithet.

I will tell you whats happening, hell.....I will tell you even where to start..........START AT OUR JUDICAL SYSTEM IN COOK COUNTY! It is a joke! You can pretty much do anything in this city and county and not sweat because u know that u are gonna do a minimum of 2 years for ANY CRIME and that your family will SUE THE POLICE and lay blame on them and cash in a $$$$ settlement because our POLITIANS, MEDIA, JUDGES, ASA'S and UNION hang us out to dry each and everyday. Our Judges and ASAs wheel and deal and let these pukes back onto the street day after day after day after day and wonder WHY there are so many murders! Its because YOU KEEP LETTING THESE PUKES BACK INTO SOCIETY instead of following the letter of the law. Should I make cases "work" anymore? Should I "target" felons? Should I "get" guns?
Should I do any discretionary police work as long as I work in this department? Or, should I just do what a situation LEGALLY requires, and no more or no less?
The second you do anything discretionary from a street stop to a surveillance, realize you just hung your ass out there. If it works out, great! If it doesn't, get ready for call back, or lawsuits, or suspension, or dismissal, or all the above.
Wait until homicides are up another 45% next year. Then the aldermen can decide if that's "a lot."

I'm sitting here watching (TV)the crime scene unfold at 7019 S. Yale. What I'm about to say is not unique to 007 but it plays out all over the city every time; I repeat, every time there is a crime scene to protect and process.
Because a slew of officers are needed to cordon off streets to mark and protect the crime scene the rest of the district goes unprotected. Even when the affected district requests unit from adjoining districts the citizenry and their property goes unprotected and underserviced (RAPs).
Heaven forbid another sizable incident takes place simultaneously. Where will the manpower come from.
One of the proposed resolutions is to speed up the processing of the crime scenes. NO; I don't mean Forensics should hurry up and process the scene.
I mean that they should HURRY UP AND GET TO THE SCENE QUICKLY.
Ask any officer. Yes, ask anyone and everyone. Forensic services -AKA crime lab are the prima donnas of this department!

Remember when the push was to make a more diverse police department? It has very little to do with Weis. The city should lay off every officer with less than five years on the job with less than 250 arrests. If you do not have over 250 arrest in five years, you do not deserve to be a police officer. Sign up to be a crossing gaurd.
The city should then hire new officers and explain that unless they are productive, they will also be laid off.
If you do not like being a police officer, then quit.

Not true, I don't know where people get these rumors from. Downtown changed the requirements before the unit even started even taking resumes. It was lowered to 3because every other police operation of this sort has a 3 year requirement. If you submitted a resume by the time the interviews were set up you got an interview. If you didn't they are in aside and will be set up for an interview the next time they select personnel. Funny thing too is, there are alot of people with 10+ years that want in and got in!

Hello, this is the real MT from 006 writing. Yes, I am going to Mobile Strike Force. This post is for the newer PPO's being assigned to 006. I tend to see a lot of 006 bashing on the blog and I wanted to give you something to think about.
As some of you may know, my organization's annual fundraiser is this upcoming November 7th. Everything we do is give the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno a better life. We are a community based veteran's group. The WCVA has been around since the early 80's. Ok, that is a brief description of the Windy City Veterans Assoc.
I have been in 006 over a year now and I have worked both 3rd and 2nd watch. When it came to finding monetary donations to our fundraiser, the officers in 006 from every watch to include the tactical teams donated collectively $2,385.00! THANK YOU all who donated...you know who you are! To you new PPO's preparing to arrive in 006, don't believe the hateful nonsense you read about 006. The men and women of 006 are dedicated and hard working. Much of our equipment is outdated and inoperable. We don't have much back up out on the street. We do the best we can with the little we are given. I enjoyed working in 006. One thing that is very evident in 006 is that there is a lot of heart!
Does 006 suck like we always see on the blog? No. I've been in places that really deserve that terminology. 006 is just less than perfect circumstances. You will learn a lot patroling in Gresham. Keep your mouth shut and your ears open and you will do fine! ALWAYS fight for the Thin Blue Line. It's the CPD way. Always has...Always will be. you need to have a system that actually wants to lock up violent thugs. instead, they are a big part of the base of political power for the current regimes.
cops are there to clean up the mess after the fact. it might make you feel better if you bust a guy now and then before he commits some offense, but if the system just lets him go, it really has not accomplished anything.
if you want to do something about crime, you need to put criminals in jail and leave them there. that requires an arrangement where the SA office actually prosecutes and the courts give long sentences to violent and repeat offenders. Even if that means you have to let lesser offenders off the hook. no more concurrent sentences and no more plea bargaining for violent and repeat offenders.
