Two South Side boys are accusing an off-duty Chicago policeman, who they said had the mistaken impression that they had thrown rocks at his car, of beating and seriously injuring them, according to WGN-Ch. 9.
The officer's identity has not been released, but the allegations are under investigation by the Independent Police Review Authority, the station said.
The incident unwound Oct. 5 near 77th Street and Exchange Avenue when someone began throwing rocks at cars. Christopher Pegues, 17, and Danny Armstrong, 12, say one driver -- who proved to be an off-duty officer -- got out of his Jeep, accused them of being the culprits, ran them down, pistol-whipped one and broke the rib of the other. They also said he fired shots in the air as he ran after them.
"He hit me on top of my head with the gun he had pulled out when he ran after the car," Pegues told WGN.

I was just checking out the Officer Down Memorial Page and in the past week there have been two coppers killed, struck by vehicles at accident scenes. This really pisses me off. Almost every day I see coppers standing in the road with their heads up their asses like they were invulnerable. I've brought it up at roll call a thousand times but they still do it. When I was a PO and would tell a copper about it they would just stand there and not move. Now that I'm a sgt. they will move but ever so slowly like they're proving something. Hey, Officer! Sorry to be such a jagoff but I'm tired of going to funerals! Unless you're made out of concrete and steel...stay the fuck out of the way of traffic.

I thought they would have done that for sure. Only reason I can think that they haven't is because they don't want that big of a CPD presence and want more outside units (ISP, County, and I'm sure lots of FEDS). Daley doesn't trust/like us and is afraid we might hurt his olympic dreams chance.

Since 16 is getting worse, we should be flooding the the homstead. Citywide units need to stop eating and getting coffee in 18. Go to 16, 8, 22 to get your coffee. Back up a beat car once in a while. Help out these shorthanded officers. Protect our own.

What Uncle Tom said is that he hopes to have a Strike force of parking ticket writers through the entire city. Yes people, that means revenue for our beloved mayor. We do not need to arrest someone for domething silly. Towing illegal vehicles and parkers brings in what our dear mayor needs.

2 of my neighbors, on 7800 block of W. Gregory had their cars broken into--they were after GPS. I guess they had suction cup marks or whatever. One was a copper's car.
Posted this earlier but forgot to mention this......
My two neighbors (one a copper) had their cars broken into (thugs after GPS). That is the 7800 block of W. Gregory.
One of them called the police, and were told that PO's would not be sent out, and he should call 311. He said, 'No, I want the police out here.' Supposedly had to argue to get a beat car.
This all after mentioning that there was blood on one of the cars, and that an ET should be sent out.
Do not know the outcome, since I heard it from my other neighbor. If anybody has more info, I would like to know--this was on beat 1633.

Yeah sure, blame it on the much maligned post office workers. Mine arrived almost two weeks ago and was returned the same day. It didn't cost me anything. I even dropped it in a mailbox while at work!

White , Black, who gives a shit, it's about being blue. You commit A crime I give a shit what color you are, you go to jail! But since you brought it up I would love to see a statistal breakdown which shows the sex and race of the arresting officer. It amazes me when I see coppers risk their lives and chase an armed offender, for nothing more than a pat on the back. What makes it more amazing is that many of these coppers who risk their lives during this pursuit have no stake in the neighborhood that they patrol. What's disheartening and demoralizing is that those who live in this shit don't want you there until they see a news camera. Only then do they complain that there "ain't no police", otherwise you are left to feel as though you are the Nazis invading Poland.
