Freedom of the Press Isn't Free
- The best-funded political campaign in American history says news organizations will have to pay — in some cases almost $2,000 each — if they want to cover Barack Obama’s election-night celebration in Chicago.
A memo sent to news organizations on Tuesday by the Obama campaign says credentials will cost $715 to $1,815, depending on whether electrical and phone lines are needed and whether an indoor or outdoor seat is requested for the event, which is expected to be held outside the evening of Nov. 4 in Grant Park.
The only free admissions are for a “general media” area. But, the memo says, “Please note that the general media area is outdoors, unassigned and may have obstructed views . . . standing room only.”
No word if any of this collected money will go to pay for police hirebacks, overtiume or park damage. Or a tiny contribution to the Olympic dream.

How many other cities have canceled time off for their coppers due to this election? How man cities have prepared for riots due to this election?
Unreal! How great would it be if McCain won and the South and West Sides, including ALL OF OAK PARK, burned to the ground? 2016? Third World Country within Crook County?
Let's hope it's to defray the costs the City has already demanded for permitting and the union fees for running electric, etc.

You might want to talk about maybe having police officers from other agencies present, just like they did for the IMF Protests in Washington DC and Seattle, just in case this matter gets out of hand?

Have it from a good source that all foot/tactical teams from the CCG will have there days off and hours switched. Detailed to either Millenium Park or Grant Park. Depending on the weather- the celebration or defeat party for Socialist may also be at the Hotel on Wacker.
For all you Tactical Teams- you will be in uniform, and detailed to the Souff and Wezz sides. You will also be on stand-by for a secondary assignment. That assignment will be depending on social unrest.
We will/may be supplemented by State, County and possibly National Guard forces.
D.O.G's 6-7-1 be prepared to have you RDO switched. SWITCHED not canceled. Switching will avoid the City have to pay Over-Time. Foot and Tactical are non-bidable positions so you either work or go back to the watch.

Im sure this isnt a suprise to any of us. The plans have been made in a joint effort with the Hall and HQ. Doomsday scenerio has a shutdown of some routes of the CTA, and mandatory closings of Business and schools also a curfew for everybody except designated groups.

Does anyone in their right mind actually think this Obama is going to help defry the cost of his security? How much is enough when it comes to money being collected by this guy. A young teenage girl was about to finish her first year of college. She considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat but her father was a rather staunch Republican.

On Obama... he said the following of the increase in crime in Chicago in an April 25, 2008 Chicago Sun-Times article entitled “Law alone can’t stop violence: Obama”:
“We want to make sure we provide state and local governments with the targeting information they need, the technology they need to make sure police are going to the places most at risk for gun violence.”
The problem with that statement is that one of Obama’s only legislative “accomplishments” in the Illinois Senate was a bill he sponsored called the “Traffic Stop Statistical Study Act,” requiring officers to record the race of everyone they stop-to be analyzed by the State.
When Obama’s own law was used to accuse officers of racial profiling in a July 25th 2008 Chicago Tribune Article entitled “Study sees racial bias in traffic-stop searches” and others, Obama’s support of the police is absent.
If Democrat leaders were serious about addressing crime and the quality of life for poor blacks in America they would not on the one hand demand more police in high-crime minority neighborhoods then stand by as the ACLU, Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the NAACP accuse those officers who are trying to fight crime of being racists.
Like all Democrats, Obama wants blacks to be victims. Victims vote Democrat. Support minorites-VOTE MCCAIN.
If Obama *doesn't* win a close election there is going to be a whole lot of pissed off people in one place at one time.

So, Obama gets billed by the City and he passes along the cost to the media, who are the reason the frenzy exists in the first place. I'd say billing the media is appropriate.
