Wrigleyville

Rumors abound about security work running afoul of the Rule and Regulations.

And still nothing about a clout-heavy individual beating a handcuffed prisoner in front of numerous witnesses then leaving a couple of blue shirts to take the beef.

Ladies and Gentlemen, why in god's name would anyone even come within 1,000 years of a Rule violation in these trying times? Especially a slam dunk one like this? We have someone in charge who has shown no compunction in referring previously settled cases to the US Attorney for prosecuting, has lied through his teeth to the rank and file, has had to backtrack not once, not twice, but numerous times from assorted contract violations, and who might even now be opening cases that were closed/suspended for years because Complainants didn't want to pursue them.

We hope this is just BS.

Is it mandatory that both Daley and J-Fed have to be at an Officers funeral? Can the family tell them to stay away? And if they did, what would be the consequences? Just wondering

This is a BS rumor. Trust me. Again SCC loves to give these BS rumor's top headline billing and in turn ulcers to cops just trying to feed thier families.
The rumor is almost surely from people that are not in the side job loop in that area and are pissed. They are rejects that nobody wants to work with, talk with, or spend any time around. So they come on here and cry and try to start some shit up.

It's been a while since I did a night time trip to the Wrigleyville bar scene, but I remember seeing guys wearing their stars on their belts checking ID's at the doors at more than one establishment.

I hope no one is that stupid these days.

This investigation has been rumored all year. A guy lost his side gig at one of the bars and decided to give IAD a heads up as to what bars used off duty POs. He provided a list of what bars used officers and at what times (Cubs games, weekends). The department knew about this for a long time but this dickhead made them do something about it. The list is over 10 POs ,mostly from 023.

SCC, you have great insight. This bar investigation has been rumored to have been going on all year long. J-Fed wanted more time and manpower provided for it after the idiot Sgt at Barleycorn.

Is it against some kind of rule for them to be doing this? If so they probably should be worried.

Its not as if there has not been fair warning that the rules are going to start being enforced.

To the idiot who says someone is "jealous" and is making up a rumor. You must be one of these transplants from 011 or SOS. The only people dumb enough to still work at the bars knowing the consequences. They always look for the new guys who don't know any better. So go wash your police t-shirts that you wear everyday and keep those ghetto war stories handy. Make sure you ask the bar you work at if they will hold your benefit, loser.

WOW WORKING IN A LIQUOR ESTABLISHMENT...

THAT SHOULD BE WORTH A YEAR OFF.
SOMEONE SHOULD PUT A SUIT AGAINST THE CITY FOR THIS IF THEY DO GET SUSPENDED. A BAR IS A LICENSED BIZNS.
WHY SHOULDNT THEY HAVE POLICE AS SECURITY OR DOES CITY HALL STILL CALL THEM PUBS AND SPEAKEASY.

BUT OFFICER WHO WORK PART-TIME USUALLY HAVE EMPTY BANK ACCOUNTS.

GOOD LUCK

Yeah what ever happened to that connected sgt from St. Edward parish? Sort of just going away while he screws the two coppers who responded to the scene. What a stand up guy. NOT!!!

Daley asks for permission to be at the funeral. If the family does not want him there, he doesn't show up. In the past he was confronted by a mother who lost her son and in the Church while up at the pulpit she asked him when was he going to approve the police contract. Since that incident he has to be invited.

It will be interesting to see if a certain 019 sgt. gets jammed up for running security out of a Wrigleyville bar? Its pretty funny whenever there is a call there, this Sgt. just happens to "show up" and smooth things out.
Or will his suck ass tactics save him once again. This guys a joke, a PO put a CR on him for hitting him with the squad door. I don't know where the Sgt starts and the Capt. ends. What a kiss ass.

as I understand the rule, you cannot work in a establishmet which gets it's primary money from liquor sales ie (bar, tavern, saloon) but you can work in a large venue that serves alcohol ie (United center, house of blues) or a Restaurant that has a bar is ok, because it is a restaurant first, then a bar.
Who would even want to work a bar? Total crap job, not worth the money for the hassle. Even the venues are a pain in the rear!

Its hard to feel too sorry for guys who work in bars. How stupid can you be? If you actually have to use force on someone, don't you think the bar might give you up or it may be discovered in a law suit? Don't give me the "feed your family" line. Risking suspension is not a good way to ensure financial security. Bar jobs are about ego and pussy.

Prohibited behavior:

Rule 18

A. Engaging directly or indirectly in the ownership, maintenance, or operation of a tavern or retail liquor establishment.
****************************************************
Working at a tavern in any capacity has always been a rule violation. The rule says nothing about what percentage of the establishment's income comes from alcohol sales. However, what constitutes a "retail liquor establishment" is up for interpretation. Don't restaurants have to have a retail liquor license? And who in his right mind would risk his job just so they can brag to all their buddies that they work the door at one of these joints?

SCC, I was at the Cubs game tonight and I have NEVER been prouder to be a Chicago Police Officer than tonight. Before the game, a moment of silence was asked for Officer Nate Taylor who was killed in the line of duty on Sunday and the place was SILENT ! I stood with my hand over my heart and looked directly at the U.S.A. flag and new exactly what the flag, Officer Taylor, and the rest of the still working officers of the Chicago Police Department stand for. Maybe a new post for this ?

You are actually both correct.
There are different types of liquor licenses. A tavern would be defined as a business with a tavern business license. A retail liquor establishment is a liquor store. Rule 18 prohibits you from owing or working at either of these. Restaurants, music venues, theaters, sporting events and even grocery stores that serve liquor or sell liquor have different types of licenses because their primary source of revenue is not from the sale or consumption of alcohol. Go to www.cityofchicago.org
You can look up the different business licenses. You can even look up what type of license each business has as long as you know the address.

It would have to be based on the type of license the establishment was issued by the Mayor's License Commission. Primarily liquor sales would be a tavern license, primarily food sales with accompanying alcohol would qualify for a liquor license. Retail liquor sales would be packaged goods license.

Son, IPRA investigates brutallity complaints, not IAD. Be as quick to read G.O.93-03 as you are to get on this site and spew nonsense.

As for the whole RAT thing. Come on down to IAD and read some of these CRs initiated by SWORN MEMBERS. Coppers raggin' coppers out of simple jealousy, coppers crying about how their boss TALKED to them. Bosses making $110,000 a year whose only management skill in their possession is to get a CR number so IAD can do the supervising. Give me a break.

Its not your daddy's department. But your focus needs to be on the real issue facing our union and our future employment. PRIVATIZATION AND DOWNSIZING.

350 POLICE JOBS JUST GOT SLASHED WITH A PEN. THAT'S NEARLY 3 PERCENT OF OUR UNIONS STRENTGH, in one day, they are all gone.

But hey. whats important is that the FOP bigshots don't have to qualify until they see the arbitrator. YIPPEE!!! So I got that goin' for me.

This was once a Union town. Now its a service town. And we will soon be making servants wages. Hope you saved something while the going was good.
