Christmas always held a special place in my childhood and as a father I hope to create that same feeling in my children's lives as well. Before my son went to sleep I told him that Santa was on his way. My son shook his head and closed his eyes and was fast asleep. God gave me the gift of children so that I can live through them.

Merry Christmas and God bless everyone!

Who is the jagbag sergeant in 011 that was denying lunches on 3rd watch, Christmas eve? They weren't even in a backlog and other cars were clearing and offering to take jobs so the units could take lunch.

Glad I don't work in that shit hole.

SCC,
While you are wishing us a happy holidays we thought you should know what happened in 006 the other night. Marked unit was shot at with a .45 round. Luckily the officers are okay and nobody was hit, but has the department issued any officer safety warning? Does this administration even care? Was a just cause initiated? This department will have close to 1000 retirements in 2009 and how many no police is the city hiring? 200 new recruits, the gangbangers are getting bolder and the City, the Mayor and the superintendant woant you to do more with less. Please be careful out there everybody.

Wishing a very happy and holy Christmas to all CPD and their families. These are hard times to be the police, but you are needed now more than ever before.

Years of excess and liberalism have led us to an unraveling of the fabric of society, and we are entering a time of great hardships. However, as with any great change, wonderful opportunities await those willing to make the sacrifices.

CPD, your selfless service shines through the darkness. God bless you.

And a special prayer for those of you who run the SCC and SecondCitySarge sites. Your blogs are shining examples of unrewarded service. It means more than you know.

Santa Claus went on a bloodthirsty rampage in the L.A. suburb of Covina last night. He walked into a Christmas party, went berserk and shot six revelers, killing three. The house was set afire.

Chicago Police have issued a "neighborhood alert" after finding an abandoned sleigh with nine reindeer in Garfield Park on the city's West Side.
NORAD contacted Chicago Police when Santa's GPS was tracked to an area near the Golden Dome building.

If Santa Claus is sighted, police urge residents to remain calm and not to approach him as he is armed and dangerous. He may be accompanied by an accomplice known only as "Chalkie", NFD.

Call 9-1-1 or detectives at (312)746-8252.

I only hope the leadership of this job improves for 2009, because it definitely SUCKED this year. One special message to J-Fed and Kirby: leave the decisions of the Police Board to the Board. Haven't you two caused enough emotional turmoil in the lives of enough officers this year?

Now that the good Bishop has completed his prison sentence for molesting little boys he's right back on the free con-man reverend money train. Tax free, of course!

Isn't it more than a little dangerous to the little kids letting that convicted pedophile hand out presents to them?

Of al the decent charities in Chicago how the hell did ABC, Channel #7 find this low life mutt to feature?

I never knew he was an FDNY fireman, so was another "Soprano's" alum and prolific actor, Steve Buscemi.

He did a good job as the gay cook/fireman on the show, I wonder what personal demons he had that drove his to this. IMDB.com showed he had steady work recently.

hey 735 am, this was a regular occurence in 008 a couple of yrs ago. Guys starting putting in slips and guess what happened? Pissed of the Lt, and in case you arent aware, each bt has an assigned lunch(which is complete BS because some are assigned lunch at 1600 when they start at 1500). But they decided that you had to request lunch at your ASSIGNED TIME if you were up and clear and if you didnt and later in the evening were denied that was YOUR OWN fault for not taking lunch on your assigned time slot. Just a little info in case guys in other districts start thinking of trying it. The bosses on this job are 95% jags with clout who couldnt work a bt car if their lives depended on it, so they WILL FIND A WAY to FUCK YOU!

From the New York Post (unable to hyperlink)

FINEST'S BIG FAUX OF FORCE

(Policing NYC: Perception is Always Way More Important than Reality)

FLEET OF 'FAKE' CRUISERS

By LARRY CELONA – Monday, December 22nd, 2008 ‘The New York Post’

The NYPD is making an unusual move to ensure no
one notices a decline in the number of cops on
the streets - decking out the vehicles used by
traffic-enforcement agents, auxiliary police and
school-safety agents so they look like regular cruisers.

The move will be phased in slowly with the
special units - who have typically used cars
painted dark blue - to be given the white cars
that are taken out of use from the main fleet.

The only difference will be in the decals affixed
to the sides of the vehicles that indicate which unit they are from.

"This is to make this look like there are more
cops on the street," said a law-enforcement
official familiar with the decision.

In all, there are about 100 cars used by the
auxiliary wing of the department and 200 used by
each of the school-safety and traffic-enforcement divisions.

The decision was made over the summer to slowly
change the appearance of the fleet by swapping
the older blue cars with white ones that have
been taken out of use with the regular patrol units.

It is not known how long it will be before the older vehicles are phased out.

The move comes as the NYPD has seen a decline in
the number of patrol officers out on the streets.

Currently there are around 36,000 cops on the
force, down from a high of about 41,000 in the late 1990s.

Contributing to the decline has been a low number
of recruits because of low starting salaries for
rookie cops, despite a 17 percent pay jump put in place earlier this year.

Also, the department canceled the upcoming Police
Academy class as part of citywide budget cuts.

Just last month, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly
countered that fewer cops are looking to retire
after 20 years on the job, when they are eligible for half-pay pensions.

"Retirements will slow down just because people
will find it more difficult to find other
employment," Kelly told the City Council.

Some cops worried that the move may have unwanted consequences.

They said putting unarmed officers in vehicles
that look like regular police cars could put them
in danger, as criminals would have difficulty telling the difference.

Some cops worried that the move may have unwanted consequences.

================================

New York's Mayor seems to hate his cops as much as Mini Mayor hates us.

Maybe the new owners will see clearly and help with the move! I work with doa and see what has happened to the morale of cpd officers thanks to the new girl, and what about officers safety? It has been thrown by the wayside if any copper gets hurt she will be named #1 in the press,in the lawsuit as the cause of it. The commander has no clue as miss ellyn does whatever she wants including cutting manpower beacuse "She wants to" Guess driving the new car the aviation dept bought for her, and working when? Makes her no care about the working coppers. that fop rep your talking baout has big balls was on the last change order but miss ellyn did not have the juice to move him, so she moved another officer, one who was a friend that attended parties together. Loyalty I think not here! Turns out jeff was getting ready to file a safety grievance but was stuck down with an injury and will be off for awhile! We are down with the struggle and with Obama as President we will prevail! Boo-Yah

Irrespective of Lt. Schmitz's leadership skills, if you folks at Midway have JJ as your union rep, then you're fools. This guy is a walking sexual time-bomb for the Dept. and a major embarrassment.
I wouldn't blame Ellen a bit for moving his ass, and for your info, people can and HAVE BEEN MOVED while being on the medical. NO way would I want JJ representing me, not with all the personal issues he's had facing him his whole career.

No more than about 100,000 other citizens are hoping for.

Except maybe substituting 'a painful and lingering death' for 'the resignation of mayor daley...', which would be the preferred exit strategy for him of 1,000,000+ citizens concerning the prick.

95% of the supervisors on this job are jagbags?
That's pretty high, in 17years i've worked in 5 districts and can honsetly say i can only recall 2 jagbags....
Maybe it's time to take a look in the mirror of transfer to another place or better yet study and get promoted, and you will see the grass is not always greener on the other side...

Whatever you needed to get "on the
Job" is all you should need to take promotional exams. These college kids with no time on the Job cannot supervise Officers doing "The Job", if they themselves have never done "The Job".
Would you rather have a supervisor with 20+ years of Patrol experience or someone with 3yrs and a college degree???
Personally, I would rather have the supervisor with 20yrs of "STREET EXPERIENCE".
SCREW THIS COLLEGE REQUIRMENT CRAP.

The reality is that no matter what is implemented at this point, I am 100 percent sure that it has been tried at some other era in CPD's History. The reason why the totality of efforts are not working is plain and simple, the troops do NOT like nor respect the Superintendent. No matter how he tries to deflect and say it is up to the Supervisors to motivate and guide the troops, the REALITY is (since we all live in the real world and not Peterson, Mike Masters, Brust and Jfed's made up world)the troops do not trust nor believe in the main leader, you will never get a cohesive effort to impact crime citywide!

I don't care if you put a house mouse, 10 year wonder or female CPD P.O. in as Superitendent, the fact that they are CPD alone will make a hell of a differnce compared to what we have now!

Also, we need police not only to run the department, but as dispatchers also. I called in a robbery and the stupid dispatcher asked me more irrelevant questions than a curious child would ask. The fact I had my 4 kids with me and did not have my gun didn't help either, but at least I did give my brothers and sisters in blue the means to catch the sucker with NO help from the stupid dispatcher!

Suggestion, use retired CPD coppers or light duty officers, not people getting paid barely above minimum wages to put the lives of officers and citizens at risk!

I agree to much education and working cpd, shows that in college you did not "apply yourself" and ended up here! To much drinking not enough study time and your here wonderful!
