Concealed Carry in Illinois?

  • Illinois law enforcement officials are divided over a new attempt to permit the state's residents to carry concealed handguns.

Rep. John Bradley, D-Marion, has proposed a "Family and Personal Protection Act" that would set statewide standards for issuing concealed carry permits and would exempt permit holders from various unlawful use of weapons laws. The bill, HB0245, was referred to the rules committee after first reading last week.

Similar bills have been introduced, and shunted aside, in most recent legislative sessions. This year, though, the idea could get a boost from the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
Even if it happened in Illinois (a very long shot by any stretch of the imagination). Shortshanks would add exemptions banning Chicago residents from actually being able to defend themselves from criminals. Overtaxed, unarmed and ignorant seems to be the way Daley wants all his voters.

I strongly encourage everyone to join the NRA and the ISRA. Defend your rights.

If you think that this doesn't affect you or your rights as a PO, think again.

The City of Chicago attempted to keep retired law enforcement officers from getting their Federally allowed "right to carry" privileges.

The City of Chicago and Crook County currently forbid law enforcement officers from owning certain guns.

The City of Chicago mandates what gun you can carry off-duty, unlike most departments.

The State of Illinois wants to ban all ammunition manufactured prior to 2008.

The NRA is the lead organization for law enforcement training nationwide.

Freedom and the 2nd Amendment go hand-in-hand.

Defend Freedom, support the 2nd Amendment.

Daley does'nt want you to be able to protect yourself from criminals, the parallel makes him uncomfortable for obvious reasons.

One more way to hold shortshanks feet to the fire. Every honest cop on the job should be supporting this.

When I lived there, I carried. It was only a misdemeanor back then. Got stopped one day by CPD. Told the guy I was just out of the Army, had just moved there, and admitted when asked to carrying my .45, to which the cop said, "Well, I'll run you and if you're clean, no problem." I was on my way in minutes. (I was in a part of town where I WOULD NOT have been if I WAS from Chicago, LOL....) It took YEARS of other BS to damage the first massively positive impression I had of CPD, and that's why I waited/tried for so many years to get on with you guys. I really thought you were the shit and I wanted to be one of you. That was back in the early 80's, different world now....But I still wish all the Real Police in that town the best.

For annual renewal and pursuant to H.R. 218, the Illinois Retired Officer Concealed Carry (IROCC) is now requiring a color photo of the retiree no larger than 4" x 6" taken on a white or light background, specifically citing a blue or gray background as okay. No polaroids permitted.

What city locations would provide the cheapest and quickest way to get one photo?

(Years ago, they used to have those photo booths in 5 + 10 stores.)

You can then submit the photo via eMail (jennette@letac.org) or U.S. mail.

Thank you.

Concealed Carry is a great thing. It enhances personal safety as well as that of the public at large and reduces crime. But the key issue here is will the law contain PRE-EMPTION. Meaning that the state law pre-empts local ordinances.

Without pre-emption, this is as useless as teats on a bull as far as Chicago is concerned.

here is a classic example of pissing moaning bitching cops not knowing what side to stand on... John Bradley recently proposed a gas tax increase to help fund Illinois infrastructure. His logic was that since gas is back down to a reasonable cost, citizens of Illinois would not notice a moderate jump in the price... not enough to stop driving, anyways... This is the same ideaology that OPEC and other Arab oil producing nations subscribe to. Hence, $4.50 a gallon this summer! Anyways, this conceal carry is just a smoke screen for his gas tax... it is an age old political tool if something you propose doesnt get the attention you feel it deserves, propose something ridiculous and your first idea will seem plausible. So there will be no conceal carry here, but your gas taxes will sky rocket enjoy

IROCC allows you to simply email them a photo of yourself even after taking the qualification. Simply title the photo with your ID so they don't screw it up. Call them or ask when qualifying. Take your own photo digitally for it or go to any Walgreens, CVS, etc, for a passport photo and get it digitally from them to take with. I am sure they will complicate it soon enough, but for now it is easy.

Chicago politician Bobby Rush (former black panther) introduced a bill which is in direct opposition to the Bill of Rights. Because he violated his Oath of Office (Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution) he should be removed. Why is there no outcry? Is it because he chose to violate the 2nd amendment and not the 1st or 4th? Wake up people, it's all part of the same document.
Illinois and Wisconsin, the ONLY two states that have politicians willing to guarantee their criminals a safe working environment. Maybe the pols in Illinois have more in common with the criminals than with their constituents. And why is this Constitutional Right being taxed and licensed? Taxing and licensing a Right is beyond Legislative authority and should be challenged.

WHY I CARRY A GUN

A old timer in the PD once said to me son, 'there comes a time in every mans life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin'.

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life
hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police Protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.

Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin' !!

The requirements should be simple. If you want to Conceal-Carry, you must: 1. Clear the backround check. 2. Pass a Law class that covers, among other things, legal responsibilities and consequences regarding carrying/using the weapon, along with Use-of-Force training. 3. Range instruction comperable to Police Officer training. 4. Liability insurance for any incidents involving the weapon for which the gun owner may be liable. Most people willing to go through the above should be responsible for safely carrying/handling a weapon.

--------------------------------
The reason is that, since all their attempts to ban guns have basically failed they are going to try going after ammo. They want "micro-engraving" of serial number's on the casing, and on the base of the bullet, if you can believe that shit. The problem with all this is that most of them are so ignorant of anything related to firearms that they A) think this is workable or B) know it's not but want to tie things up in knots if they can get such an inane law passed, knowing it is next to impossible to comply with. Estimates are that production of a cartridge would take 5 times as long and make ammo A LOT more expensive, and this would be just fine with them......BUT....the micro engraving on the (lead?) base of a 9mm hollowpoint is unlikely to survive what happens to that projectile when it makes it's way through some bonehead's bone head anyway.....did I mention that this is unworkable? :D

If illinoiscarry organizes another Second Amendment Freedom Rally downtown this summer, everyone should plan on attending. I was there last year and it was a great turnout. Men, women, cops - Suzanna Hupp spoke, as did a few others such as Peraica. Daley was out of town that day, conveniently. It got a few seconds of coverage on the 4:00 news, none on the nightly.
Hopefully it'll be bigger this year!

I cannot understand why the National FOP has backed Attorney General Eric Holder ("Nation of cowards"), the racist gun-grabber?

Eric Holder signed an amicus brief in the Heller case that supported the District of Columbia’s handgun ban.

Eric Holder argued that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right.

Eric Holder has supported national handgun licensing and mandatory trigger locks.
