Lake Street Bar Problems

  • Chicago Police are hoping to review security tape from a West Loop club to figure out what led to a shooting that left a self-employed music producer dead and another man wounded.

Bryan King, of the 9700 block of South University, was shot inside Transit Nightclub at 1431 W. Lake St. about 2:30 a.m., police said. A second man also was shot.

Chromium was another mob/political connected joint that saw more than its share of violence and they were supposed to shut down a while ago. It can't be the old Grand Avenue crew because they liked things quiet, right?

That industrial corridor, as they call it, is like the "Wild West" on some nights, if you get my gist.

Just to add to an earlier comment regarding the GM Barry at the Transit:

This POS tells his criminals/bouncers to basically beat the shit out of anybody giving them a problem. Then, once the police show up they are instructed to lie to the police and claim the patron has battered THEM and that they wish to file a criminal complaint against the patron for battery.

Not to mention, whenever something occurs requiring police intervention, this jagoff sticks his face in the middle of it and tries to undermine the investigation by trying to take witnesses away, bribing witnesses with free party nights, and getting in the officer's face while they are conducting their investigation.

This guy is a born POS who thinks he can rule the block any way he sees fit without the police having any authority to enforce or investigate. This is the same POS who tries at every turn to act like he's buddies with the DC, thinking he's going to get some special consideration because he plays nice to them.

Well Barry, you shithead, it ain't ever gonna work boy. No one gives a shit about you, you WON'T EVER be getting any special treatment from ANY bosses in the district, and your bullshit little bar will be given the due attention it needs to be put out of business.

From the police perspective, they will do everything legally within their power to provide complete documentation to have you shut down to all involved parties. From then on, it's up to YOU and your SILENT partner to line the pockets of the corrupt ones downtown to keep your little shithole open to the bangers.

Good luck shithead.

Here are a few facts that might clear up some questions regarding revoking liquor licenses.

1) The Chicago Police Department CANNOT revoke a liquor license, NOR can it demand that an establishment shut down. These rights are held by the DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS AND CONSUMER PROTECTION from City Hall.

2) The DBA is notoriously "consumer friendly". Regarding the Chromium case, they repeatedly ignored numerous requests from the CPD to have that place shut down, UNTIL AFTER the homicide happened. If you remember, the heat came down on DBA for that place, not the CPD.

Wow! Great list. I can think of 3 more factories that were on side streets just off Lake. Imagine the jobs that the city would still have if just half of those places were still around. Imagine the taxes the city would be collecting.

I read that the U.S. now has about 1,200 foundries, China has 13,000. And we wonder why the economy sucks.

Corporation Counsel does as shitty a job as the Mayor who runs them. AS long as Daley runs the show, you will get Mara Georges, Ronnie Hubieman and all the others who run this city into the ground with Daley.

UNtil you stop Daley you will get hacks running departments instead of experts.

Many liquor license establishments are havens for crime, drugs and are gang or mob owned. The police department does not train their supervisors or require them to enforce the ordinances. And, if a sergeant or lieutenant really tries to do so, he will get slapped down. The citations go no where at the hearings and any charges that do make it to the license commission drag on for a long time and then are either dismissed or settled with a minor penalty, that is, unless you are not connected. Then hell comes down on you. There never has been and likely never will be, a push by the city to close down bad news joints as many are connected and pay the alderman or other officials.

The City should post "Dangerous Tavern to Drink In" Signs near these places, and watch how fast they clean up their acts. Or Just pull their licenses. We already have one CPD Sgt. in grave condition due to an incident at T.R.s Pub, we don't need any more, as responding Cops dealing with hostile drunks and wierd-o's will obviously be on camera and will be sandbagged by the Lib-Turd News Media for doing their jobs, so warn the Public with a sign, and clean up after the Animal is done running amuck.

Chicago was the manufacturing hub of America at one time. When a city or country loses its manufacturing base and becomes a service economy they are doomed.

Someone should tell the Mayor that his Father's head tax resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs in Chicago. Just think of the tax base that evaporated overnight.

Until the US decides to retool and manufacture their own goods, we will continue to decline and eventually become a third world country.

Yeah, thanks, I ran my finger down several pages real quick looking for "Lake Street," just as an example. There must have been hundreds of factories, on the side streets too as you say, and they ran all the way west out to Maywood "back in the day." Probably 95% of them are gone now, vacant lots or A.M.E. churches or methadone clinics...or these horrible "clubs."

It's easier to see why things are the way they are if you have some idea of what they were before...the guts have been torn out of this city, and condos and Starbucks and banners on lampposts and "multicultural academies" and Olympics aren't going to save it.

Where in human history has there ever been something called a "service economy" -- something that could magically coast along without any production, without any creation of wealth? There still has to be ore dug out of the ground and cloth woven and soap made somewhere.
