Use for Inspectors

How about instead of having the Inspectors come to roll call and write people up for silly shit, further destroying morale and not actually securing police facilities, J-Fed has the Inspectors go around to each and every police facility and write up building violations?

These could be code violations or safety violations. Doors that don't close, broken windows, nonfunctional thermostats, fire alarms, keypads, lockup doors, broken stairwells, bums in the lobbies, plumbing, collapsing structures, etc.

Then they could recoup money for Daley's "Quest for Olympic Fire" by SPAR-ing Commanders and Deputy Chiefs who are supposed to be responsible for their facilities.

Sorry, but it's not fair to write up a D/C for building code violations. All they can do is report it and request repairs.

I work in a 'newer' building and it's been a bitch trying to get the union window people to come out and stop the rain from coming in. Can't get a union plasterer because there's only like two left in the city. Can't get carpentry work done without an act of Congress.

Basically, the bureaucracy has it all tied up in knots. So what else is new?

Inspectors cannot go around and write up building violations that is the job of the building inspector, and when they'd lost their very trained and knowledgeable 19yo haven't been hearing too much coming from their office.

You have pipes coming out of the wall connected to nothing??? you have control panels that personnel know nothing about, you have lockup alarms sounding but where is the shut off. Inasmuch as many would believe this is an engineer problem (and I agree) its a bit moronic to sit there whilst the alarm is sounding and not being able to do anything about it for the 3-12 hours it takes for the engineer to respond.

The Inspectors are supposed to insure that police facilities and equipment are up to snuff; this is one of their primary responsibilities.

So since this whole 14 year old thing took place, the Commander in 007 has assigned a P.O. to sit in the hallway near the south enterence. His job? To check id's of those in civilian dress.

So instead of securing the door, the solution is to have a hall monitor. And this is for all three watches. This dept is truly an embarassment with no real leadership

My locker door keeps closing on me.It never stays open without proping something agains it. Maybe Big Bird, who's hunting in area five this period, can come by and hold it open for me evrytime I need to get in it. That would make him really usefull.

They don't give a shit about real security! That would cost real money to fix. Nope, they will only continue to pay buffoons like Big Bird a hundred thousand dollars a year to write up police officers who wear cargo pants with the wrong hat/outer garment, neck wear and other garbage like that.

It's all about appearances, not substance.

INSPECTORS SHOULD GO WRITE INTO THE WATCH CDRS OFFICER AND START WITH ALL THE PAPERWORK> MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER> IN THE MILITARY THE IG OR INSPECTOR GENERAL CAN GO ANYWHERE AND INVESTIGATE ANYTHING>ITS NOT USED TO WRITE UP SOLDIERS FOR UNIFORM VIOLATIONS-SEMPER FI!

The problem is trying to get things fixed. Only a city electrician can change light bulbs. Or a city plumber to unstuff a toliet, these are things the janitor should be allowed to do.

The bosses of this department (jody, brust, masters) have never worked at a station so they cannot possibly answer any security questions about any district station. The city sure isn't going to spend a nickel to improve security glitches, so this leaves the commander of each district on his own to improvise ways to fix the problem. Commander Calloway in 007 has been a great boss so far. Talks to the troops, is fair and socialable. What has he done to alleviate the parking lot door problem in 007? He has placed a PO in the hall and has put a desk in the hall to somewhat block entrance. A traffic horse is being used to limit access to the processing rooms. He has done the best he can with the hand he is dealt by this shitty command staff. The 3rd largest department in the USA and the 7th district has to utilize a flimsy desk and splintered traffic horse to strengthen security. Wow

scc - you hit the nail right on the head with this topic. Inspectors listen up.

You sir/ma'am are obviously NOT the police because if you were you would have a pass that allows you to park in the actual lot. And before you start bitching, be greatful that you have a parking lot to park in.

So instead if spending some money on real security they choose instead to spend $225,000 in yearly salary and take an officer off the street, all three watches, to watch the back door.

Isn't that what Chester used to do in Gunsmoke?

Will that be a bid position? Get the FOP rep to file a grievance, it should be a biddable position.

"Use for Inspectors"

Get the fucking inspectors to guard the goddamn police stations and check ID's of people coming in, full time. Then they will be performing a useful function, unlike now.

The buildings are like everything else in this department. Ask a district manager to see the facility report for a few months; you will see there are problems listed on it, month after month, that just never get fixed....All these reports do is keep a file drawer full. They are created and submitted because the dept. says they have to. The actual fixes come from somewhere else.

We've been without an elevator inspection certificate since the building was put up 3 years ago. I just hope I'm in it when the *%^*$$ER falls!!!

The district managers serve the function of being spies for the Mayor. The Mayor is very distrustful of the CPD and needs to have a spy in place to monitor each district.

No cages in cars for the Working Police in 005, no pdt's, crappy cars go to the working police. 1st and the 16th all the way!
And why do we have to have 2-3 officers as hallway monitors? This is a waist of manpower. Bosses use your heads...

Homan, no handi-cappe parking any where, must be the only lot in the city where all the gimps have to walk a block to work!! Can we get some relief? Half the people in ERPS are handi capped drivers? Pam Z will here of this next.
