Jody lies to the public once again. The truth is: Old boy drove a squad car, checked out a ticket book, checked out a police radio, was assigned a locker, walked through the entire station including the mens locker room, answered 911 calls, grabbed dudes off the corner and put them on the hood of the squad car, assisted other officers on jobs, handled a traffic accident and yes - played with the cool lights and sirens. Come on Jody - I know you and Daley lie about every single thing but you could at least tell the truth about our fine security set in place in all our districts. Let the public know just how fucked up this department really is, come on!
A thought occurs to me, is it too late to write up the curfew on this kid? This just shows you there's more trouble to get into around the station than on the street. Be safe. All this will pass.

It said in the Suntimes that the kid was being held for psychological exam. I also think that everyone invovled needs to have the same exam. This department is so management heavy it is funny. There are way too many exempts. The more exempts there are the greater the ineptness of the departments leaders. All (most) of them got there positions since they knew someone or had a phone call, NOT because they can manage people or be effective police officers. Hence, year after year, decade after decade the dysfunction has grown. It is this dysfunction that produces or allows events like this to happen.
Answer to this problem: 1) Get a real Superintendent who was the police and who can manage people (won't happen because King Daley can't control such a person), 2) Get rid of King Daly, 3) Cut the exempt staff by 1/3 at least, 4)Exempt personal should go through a two week course on how to manage people and deal with their own issues (017 boss could have used this, among others), 5) In order to make Det. at least 6 years on, Sgt. at least 10, LT at 15. Get people in these spots who have worked the streets, not whiners who tried to get out the first chance they could.
Twenty years ago when did you see Sgts. with 5 years on, or LT's with 10 or less. I have no hope whatsoever that things will change or improve. I do believe reactionary decision making by exempts who never were the police will continue as a response to such events. Morale will continue to slide and more embarrassing stories will occur.
Its January in Chicago and the city has to rent a snow making machine to make snow! WTF just send some of those top notsh S & S guys to plow the sreets from curb to curb and use that snow.
I was in juvenile court when Vincent Richardson plead not guilty of impersonating the police. The judge gave hime a continuance and Vincent Richardson replied that he would have to get permission from his watch commander to have a court date out of his regular court key.

I was in juvenile court when Vincent Richardson plead not guilty of impersonating the police. The judge gave hime a continuance and Vincent Richardson replied that he would have to get permission from his watch commander to have a court date out of his regular court key.
He then asked the States Attorney to sign his Time Due slip!

To all the miss/mr know it all police who make the comment"only in the 3rd Dist.";fuck you..I happen to work in 003 and i agree we have a whole lot of "Dogs"but so do the other 24Dists. in this department.There are many very good officers in 003 who do their job exceptionally day in/day out.I will compare my Compl. History(awards) and police wit with most people on this Dept. who all they do is whine.I know the female officer who worked 395 that night and it could of happened to a lot of other people on this job but i know most of you are perfect and never made an honest mistake before in your careers.Capt. Johnson is one of the only bosses on this job who care about the "Blueshirts" and should of been in a Commander before our current "Burger Queen".Maybe it would of been better if John Franklin would of stayed.I never post on this blog but its a shame all of you are throwing these people under the bus without knowing all the facts.I shouldn't be surprised because i know all of you are perfect and have to vent by poking fun on an anonymous blog.Now i cant wait for everyone to rip on me so go ahead. signed,Still proud to be CPD.
Only a softball would stay in 003 when there is any chance at all to get out. Complimentary history means nothing to the real working poice; we all know it's a popularity/clout contest. I've been on this job for 27 years, and 003 has always been known as the station with the dumbest police in Chicago. This whole incident is no surprise.
So he lives in the suburbs. Big deal. I've lived in Las Vegas for ten years now. Take the red eye in and out. Just show the star and I'm good to go. Suckers!
