Suburban Paper Scoops Locals
The Daily Herald evidently has someone who owns a calendar on staff. They're the only ones who covered this until late yesterday afternoon when Channel 7 picked it up:
Police say an internal department investigation on how a 14-year-old boy allegedly was able to impersonate a Chicago officer is complete.
But police spokeswoman Antoinette Ursitti said Monday the findings won't be made public until Supt. Jody Weis (WEES) can address them.
Ursitti says an investigation into the Jan. 24 security breach includes surveillance video and witness interviews.
The incident was embarrassing for Weis and the department
Which is probably why the Department would be happy if this all went away and no reporter anywhere ever asked about it again. Rumor has it some persons involved underwent retraining yesterday at the Academy.
Meanwhile, Department facilities across the city are pulling officers off the already manpower short streets to sit in front of doors that don't lock properly for the low low price of $60,000 per year. Instead of this ($1,000). Or this ($300 and up).

Try again SCC, last time I check we have three watches, each of which has to man the door, for a bare minimum of $180K per year per district involved. Not to mention some stations like area 2 have two different doors being manned, whats $180K X 2, any reporters smart enough to add that up. Come on Olympics, this city sure knows how to spend some cash.
All I know is that in 005 we can't man the all the beat cars and we are downing 2 people to sit at both back doors. Hell lately several beat cars a night are now 99 units WTF!!!
I'M BUYIN THE CHEAP VERSION FOR THE HOUSE
$60,000 a year to sit at a door? Try a lot more then that. 60,000/52 weeks= 1,153 dollars/40hrs a week= 28.82x24hrs=691.68 per day x 365 days= 252,463 dollars a year. Thats a fairly low figure too considering the average salary is higher then 60,000 per year.
There was someone out from downtown looking into our station. He said that the City building head stated that it would cost over a million dollars to put lock/key pads at all the(rear) doors of every police station…Where can I put in my bid for this contract?
I heard that the station security is going to be a bid spot or maybe special!
That's what happens when you run the dept by merit and who you knows
Maybe if the stations weren't built by political hacks the locks would work on the 10 foot tall doors.
You try and tell me this media is not kissing ass, 20 years ago there would be … "Exclusive Investigative Report" at 10...
These idiots in the media need a map to get out of a phone booth, selective reporting, then it becomes sensationalism not journalism.
Here a clue, there is a major shortage of personnel available on the street, there is one person to go to first and interview, JFED, now you get BS, then go to his boss, Shortshanks, but heres a clue, you will get BS’d, so bring your boots cause it’s going to get deep, then tell the people what you surmised between the two and what you see on the street… now go do your job kid.
$60k to watch a door? Write tickets to whoever pisses me off?
Where do I sign? I know you guys get treated like crap, walk around with a target on your back and risk your life daily but YOU GUYS HAVE JOBS AND BENEFITS AND (maybe) A PENSION!!
Get home safe every night, we all don't hate you.

Refuse to work 99 on midnights!
Mayor dick does not care. it's all taxpayer money. ask loevy and loevy.
That's what they get for having morons design a police station.
The back doors of A2 can't be opened from the outside, from the inside, you push the bar to release the lock. The doors also to function as Fire-Escape routes, so what's the point of having guards on the back doors? Perhaps the desk dollies don't want anyone walking down THEIR hallways past THEIR Offices?
head of iad has recommended 5 officers be disciplined for the incident with the 14 year old kid. and jagoff pleaded not guilty in court. at the end of the day, the officers will all take a big hit and nothing will happen to jagoff. the judge will tell him "don't do that again" and he will magically be rehabilitated and sent home to momma.
I really liked being a hall monitor, er...I mean "Station Security Facilitator" for my district!
It was a great job plus I was able to catch up on my book & broke out my DVD player.
I checked off at the end of the day with a big fat ZERO!
come to the 011th dist. someone put up giant ADT stickers on all doors and windows!!!! LMAO gotta love cops!!!
WE CAN PUT SGT A.B. IN 014 AT THE DOOR, THEN SHE CN' SCREW WITH ANYONE. DANGEROUS
careful kids...LT in 011 beefed on a PO who asked to see her ID...she flashed her gun and said "this is my ID" then went to the WC
Wow, the Herald gets a scoop.
Not bad for my utterly worthless hometown paper.

just what do you think they are going to do to a juvenile for such a minor crime? they barely lock them up for premeditated murder.
think of it as a good object lesson. next time someone tries this, they may have far more sinister motives.
In 003 the burger queen has the back door locked, so the hall monitor has to get up and open it every time some one needs to come in. She had a sign in sheet for the officers to sign cause they were hanging in the station too much. Made the Sgts sign in also. What a waste of paper.

You can put your bid right up your a** !!!
That contract and every other contract is already spoken for by the outfit or a "friend" of the outfit. Count on it.

This is how stupid this shit has gotten SCC. I work in 11 and the other dat an officer assigned to SWAT walks in. He is wearing the green uniform w/ SWAT and city flag patches on the shoulders. he is wearing a vest with a star and name tag on it. THE DESK SARGENT ASKS HIM FOR HIS POLICE I.D.!!! Oh, did I mention he had his M4 rifle slung in front of him? The guy said to the Sarg...but I'm in full uniform and the Sarg asks to see it again and the officer complies. HEY SARG YOU ARE A JACKASS. IF THE GUY WAS NOT THE POLICE WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE AT THE DESK WITH NO VEST AND A REVOLVER. HE'D HAVE MOWED YOU DOWN BEFORE YOU HAD TIME TO PISS YOUR PANTS.
A/3 is in some kind of personnel check from the inspectors.I don't know why, but, I never saw the inspector. The pussy sergeant and patrolman walking around like kings, asking fellow sergeants and patrolmen questions like they were 2 year olds made me want to puke."We are here to fuck you , now talk to us".FUck you, you are all young ones your day will come.

Easy soldier... Don't think for one second that 35th Street/IAD won't be testing Station Security all over the City and jamming the desk crews for failing to challenge people entering the facilities after "the impostor".
This result was inevitable. Just keep the Star/ID handy & flash the desk upon entering... Trust me! The desk crews want this extra burden a lot less than you do ! ! !
How about the sign on the back doors of one of the stations,(not verbatim)but here goes: "DEAR MR/MRS UNDERCOVER INSPECTORS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING YOUR ID'S SO I WON'T HAVE TOO ASK YOU FOR IT" and this sign is laminated.Gots too luv cops humor, you guys rock man because it took someone with a big pair to put that sign, lol hahahahahaha.

Supposedly, they're auditing how man people are really needed inside. They're going to be auditing a lot of units to determine necessary personnel.
