Nice Story

We don't see these stories very often, probably because most cops don't want the publicity. But we've seen it hundreds of times and that's no exaggeration:
  • Tondonlia Brown and her two young children escaped a Christmas morning fire, only to return to their South Side apartment and find burglars had stolen their gifts and many of their possessions.

Just as the holiday was looking grim, Chicago Police Officer Michael Lawrence stepped in with toys and a gift card. He had responded to the burglary call, and after talking to Brown and the children, he couldn't get their plight off his mind.

We're sure we'll get the same comments that are appearing in the BreakingNews.com article about "how did the papers find out about this?" Who cares?

These Acts of Kindness are played out 1000's of times daily by the Men& Women of The Chicago Police Department. You NEVER hear about it, although most of us might prefer it that way.

The article never mentioned whether Rev Pfleger or Rev Jackson have offered monetary support or temporary lodging yet??

Amazing, how all you ever hear about from the MSM is how bad the police are.

Coppers have some of the biggest hearts out there and this once again proves it.

God Bless this officer!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

Officer Lawrence. I am proud to say you are my brother! God Bless you for what you did for those kids! I hope the department acknowledges you for this. But I doubt it.

In over 34 years of service with the CPD, I saw these things on almost a daily basis. Officers buying food, milk, toys, clothing etc for many people. Women and their children who had to leave the home due to domestic violance and who ended up in the station awaiting transportation, poor, lonely old folks, crime victims etc. I miss associating with these kind people now that I am retired.

This is coming from a person who is not and never was a cop. I have learned over the years that police, firemen & bikers are probably the most generous people around. And I am sure that this happens regularly but without the publicity. This time the report went back and the victim was the one that offered up the info.

This is the type of story that, had it occurred in NYC, the NY Daily News or Post would have run a big story praising the copper's good will. If you want to read good, often politically incorrect pro police stories, log on to these NY papers' websites and note how good the writing is and how and then compare it to the shit being published in our two hapless papers here.

I hope his act of kindness is considered by Jody and his merry band of Reverends should this officer ever be faced with suspension time. Instead of awards, selfless acts by the police should win then a "get out of callback" card.

It was a good story until I saw the officer on the news. This happens everyday and most cops don't go on the news. Nice gesture but should have kept it quiet. Now he looks like he has something other than helping someoneout on his mind.

I have to agree with the comments about how often these deeds are done by members of the CPD who never say a word and don't want any publicity. As I always said, if you want the publicity or credit for the deeds, then you are doing them for the wrong reason. I personally know of three different incidents this Christmas that officers have helped families and all were in the westside districts Keep up the good work

Wow I didn't see any of the do gooder Reverends rushing to the aid of this young mother and her children, but they sure do rush to get some negative air time against the police dept. I wonder if Jesse or Rev Meeks will send officer Lawrence an atta boy for his outstanding gesture of good will. Anyway, You make be proud to be a member of this fine police dept.

It's also too bad that the media doesn't pick up on the real clergy who work with the real police in helping those in need. We know whom to call in our district, which pastors will help when asked. Which ones will help find some candy or toys for a special party for needy kids. And it's never the fake ministers J-Fed stands with for photo-ops. Keep up the good work, and go home safe after watch!

What a kind and unselfish act. May you have many blessings for this officer and thank you for making all CPDs look a little better for this. Happy New Year.

....and just maybe this woman needed a break. Sometimes life hands you a little bit too much grief. I'm guessing this officer sensed she needed someone to show her a bit of kindness. God bless.
