Still a Threat
- A Nigerian man who said he was an agent for al-Qaida tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane Friday as it was preparing to land in Detroit, but travelers who smelled smoke and heard what sounded like firecrackers rushed to subdue him, the passengers and federal officials said.
Flight 253 with 278 passengers and 11 crew members aboard was about 20 minutes from the airport when passengers heard popping noises, witnesses said. At least one person climbed over others and jumped on the man. Shortly afterward, the suspect was taken to the front of the plane with his pants cut off and his legs burned, a passenger said.
One U.S. intelligence official said the explosive device was a mix of powder and liquid. It failed when the passenger tried to detonate it.
Sadly, this is what air travel has come to. You never know who, what or when these assholes are going to use or come up with. We have to trust in their incompetence in making homemade explosives to remain safe when flying.

Al-Quieda and radical islam is a cancer that is spreading quietly and quickly within the U.S. but the Liberals just don't want to wake up and see it. And now with the prison in Illinois taking in these detainee's they get more of a chance to spread their disease to other inmates.
Delta plane coming in at O'Hare yesterday had the airport alerted, reportedly the pilot reported some type of fire on board. It was reported again on the police radio when the flight was 4 miles out, then nothing. Obviously it landed. Then I heard this on the news on the way home. Just wonder if there was a connection. This happened at O'Hare between 1400-1500 hours.

join the Terrorism Liaison Officer Program. There are no districts or Areas that you think are excluded from this program. It a thankless job based on you extra volunteerism. Every district needs as many Officers involved ad possible. Take the time to watch and listen to the available training videos. Also, sign up for email notifications, and keep urself updated with what's going, regional and national enforcement agencies.
Be vigilant and safe.. Terrorism, in it's many forms, is closer than what any one else might tell you..

That would be the logical assessment.
However, in the real world, with the DemocRATS in charge, they will most likely mug for the cameras, wringing their wrists and saying that some how this incident is our fault. At that point, Airport Special will be cut out completely because the Muslim extremists in this country will complain that they are being picked on.
It's unfortuante, but we should always be on "High or Red" Alert at all times at airports nationwide.

The bastard got on the plane in a foreign country (Nigeria) not the United States. Lax standards abroad are a problem beyond our control.

The article further says that the father was shocked that his son was even allowed to board a plane headed for the US. The State Dept. also admitted that based on his father's notification concerning his son, that a file had been initiated, but that there wasn't enough 'negative info' to officiallÿ place the son on a 'no fly' list. It would appear, based on the article, that WE dropped the ball on this guy, and that the US ducked what could have been a disaster.
This terrorist even picked a seat which placed him directly over the fuel tanks of the plane.

As a non-braniac, I did fact check, the $200 million figure is quoted on Fox and CNN and the schedule for the airport is posted on the airport's own website.
