- Chicago city workers are less likely to report job-related misconduct than their counterparts elsewhere, largely because they don’t believe the problem will be fixed and they fear retaliation from bosses, a new survey by Mayor Richard Daley's hiring compliance office reveals.
The last hundred years or so have only reinforced this lesson. It's almost part of Chicagoans genetic makeup at this point:
- The survey also found that a paltry 17 percent of Chicago’s workers believed they will be rewarded for following compliance and ethical standards.
We're surprised it's that high. And the topper?
- Boswell ordered the survey, which cost approximately $40,000. The survey took the pulse of more than 1,800 workers and was conducted in August and September by the Ethics Resource Center, a private, nonprofit organization. The survey's error margin is 2.2 percentage points.
$40,000 for a survey. While the mayor is crying broke. So that breaks down to $750 for postage, probably under 1,000 responses to achieve a 2.2% error margin, find some hungry grad students to compile the data for beer money and White Castles, we assume Boswell walked away with at least $30,000 for four months work. Who is he connected to?
He could have cleared almost the entire $40,000 by going on Amazon.com and buying "Boss" by Mike Royko for a buck.

consists of doing what is right and "calling out" those who do not.
There is no quicker way to lose a job,or ruin one's career in Chicago than to point out misconduct or criminal conduct by others. It's also a good way to end up in the E.R. or even the river.

I would like to report a crime...wait, that's not a crime in Chicago. Nevermind.
It didn't even cost $750. I took the survey, and it was an electronic survey, distributed on the City email system.
How about all the extras the new Jody exempts get. Clothing allowance and duty availability for Jody - Brust - Masters - Daly. Someone told me that each of these new - and I repeat new - employees get the full 25 working day vacation. I thought newly appointed members get 20 straight. Guess I was wrong - or so I say wronged. As a PO with less than 10 years this really pisses me off. Can anyone confirm they actually get the full 25? Great job these guys get: 6 figure salaries along with 5 weeks vacation right off the bat. Larry Yellen are you reading this? How about Dave and Pam? How about any news media - these new "experts" are bleeding the city dry. Shitcago at its worst.

Yes its true. While we have to wait a full term for our five weeks these "special" folks get theirs right away. Another fine example of Jody and his Feebs at their best. Were's the oversight? Who authorized this? Why were the City of Chicago's policy on new employees not followed? Why? Why? Why? Teacher - teacher call me. I know why, because they don't have to live by the rules.
