Toddler Burning Bridges
- Cook County Board President Todd Stroger was sending a message to House Speaker Michael Madigan when he recently fired two of Madigan's top political operatives from their high-paying county jobs, county sources said.
Madigan, like Mayor Daley, has not made an endorsement in the County Board president race and isn't expected to do so, Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said.
But some of Madigan's Southwest Side foot soldiers have circulated nominating petitions and are actively backing Stroger's chief rivals: Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District boss Terrence O'Brien, county insiders say.
Stroger isn't pleased that Madigan has withheld his backing, county insiders say. He took political revenge first by firing longtime Madigan loyalist Richard Bono, a $99,187 county Forest Preserve District maintenance superintendent who also collects a $30,353 city pension.
How many other "double dippers" is Todd going to fire? We only hope he does as much damage to his rivals as possible before he loses his seat.

I'm starting to like where this is going.
Say what you want but all the others running against him are all machine candidates. So the dem machine is covered no matter who wins.
Madigan's Alderstooge, Frank Olivo, gets a State paycheck besides his $100,000 plus check for voting how Madigan tells him too at City Counsel. Think Quinn has the guts to do a Stroger on him?............me either.
Good let them fight Madigan is the most evil man in Illinois. Madigan Daley and Burke. The Irish have so much to be proud of.
The "Toddler" has figured out that Madigan wants him gone.
Madigan has been providing support to both Dorothy Brown and Terrance
O'Brien in getting sufficient signatures on their petitions.
He has utilized Dominic Longo and the so-called Committee for Better Government on the northwest side.
Tactics like this make me believe the best candidate is Toni Preckwinkle as we need to get rid of the sleaze in the State of Illinois.
I guess Todd Stroger sees the 14% popularity poll writing on the wall. He's going down and he knows it. I guess he figures he might as well take down a few a**holes with him.

if stroger is voted out, won't he still be collecting at least two pensions, (chicago alderman and county board president)?
so we'll be paying his dumb ass for decades to come while he goes and lays on the beach somewhere to avoid the high county and city taxes here!
I wonder if he managed to sneak into the police pension, as well?

Jobs hell, how many can he rotate in and out of county jobs to qualify for pensions? At this point it is pensions, not jobs that count. The looting has already begun, loot and salt the earth, make them need that tax increase.

Stroger had no problem hiring Luis Farakhans nephew for a high paying job after Farakhan endoresed him. Stroger should dump Farakhans nephew who was recently hired.
