Voting for Judges
We've been asked to post a list of judges that are worthy of your vote. We say "your vote" because we don't ever vote to retain judges. We only vote "NO" because there isn't a choice labeled "HELL NO." It's kind of cathartic to just run down the list and vote "NO" 80 or 90 times. Our dream is to have 10,000 cops voting "NO" on every single judge. The system would be in disarray overnight.
In any case, we're opening up this post for anyone with particular horror stories of judges who deserve to lose their spots. There must be dozens.
In interest of fairness, we'll even let "good judge" postings go through even though we won't be voting for any of them.

As I agree with the post I would like to pat my "Yes" vote out there for one particluar judge that is running. I have known Alan Murphy both on and off the job for the last 18 years. As an ASA he was a right thinking American and as a sitting judge now, he is in our court. I feel the same as most about most of the judges but I believe this guy deserves our support.

Funny to hear Epstein's name for the appellate court. I had two trials in front of Epstein. Epstein did everything in his power to help a black defendant in a jury trial. Jury found him guilty in about 1 hour. Epstein was seriously pissed.
I had a bench trial in front of Epstein for a white defendant. Epstein found him guily in less than 10 minutes.
Both defendants were as guilty as sin.

The female Judge Sullivan at Skokie is the worst judge I have ever seen. I have never seen her find anyone guilty. I remember sitting in her courtroom once and the whole court heard her say "I know your guilty but I don't want to send you to jail, finding of not guilty". This bitch should have been removed from the bench immediately!!!!

This happened to me, too. 3 years turned into time served while I wasn't looking. Can't remember the judge's name, Room 600 26th and Cal is where it was in June 2009. Agg Batt to PO while on probation.
In felony court, at least br 48-4, if it isn't over 2 grams of rock/heroin the judge throws it out, unless a dlivery charge. And if it's not over 60 grams of weed, thrown out! What's the point? How many No prob Cause arrests can u get??? Nothing wrong w/ the paper work, just the judges power of control!!! Judge Ryan. I don't want to talk smack on judges, but it gets to me everytime I hear good cases being tossed and more jags gettn let go!!!!

Luckman at br 29... few months ago, had a guy up for a second cause hearing. Had a ONE MILLION dollar bond... guess he had an ammo cachet at his crib. Anyway, in strolls private attny Lopez (the mob lawyer that always wears hot pink socks and ties--the guy from operation family secrets)... Luckman is clearly impressed that celebrity has arrived. They joke for a bit before Luckman asks state "why does this man have a one million dollar cash bond?" To which an angry state replied "we discussed this in your private chambers..." Luckman says "well, the police have his ammo now, so he's not a risk" Bail reduced to....100,000 D!! 10g posted, bad guy out. What a pushover. Later, luckman wants to hold a guy in contempt because he blamed the CTA for his tardiness. Luckman told everyone that he used to be council for the CTA and that it is chicago's finest institution, it is never late.

Is their any way that you could list this category long-term? It seems that Epstien is named the most. Could we narrow it down to a few judges (good or bad) so we can concentrate our focus. It would take much less commitment or work than aquiring signatures. You could ask the readers to supply anecdotal information about a particular judge and the rest of us could email them to friends and family. This would help combat the liberal media backlash that will certainly rush to defend these judges. Even if we are unable to stop them from being elected it would cause them to spend more money during the election and certainly send a message.
My own experiences with Lynn over the past 18 months have been pretty fair, he's chewed out the asa's for keeping me and my partner late, being midnight officers and he has put the defense in check during testimony several times on while I was testifying, he's kind of soft on the criminal, but he seems fairly straightforward towards us.

Judge Linn let a POS thug off on a murder. The thug kicked his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and killed the baby. Linn said he didn't mean to kill that poor baby, so he only found him guilty of battery on momma.

I'm really glad you brought up this topic. I never vote for Judges unless you absolutely know what they stand for. There are just too many liberal and worthless judges out there who are nothing more than political shark lawyers looking to make a name for themselves, and their status. Why are we saying "NO" to this judge and that judge. There is no judical retention on this ballot. This is a PRIMARY election. Each party is only picking the candidate to run for a specific office. The judges are for vacancies, not retention.

The quip about this new thing about rollback judges is so true, especially in the last 6 months at 26th and Cal. My partner and I had thought we did a very good job getting all inventories and being present in court when notified. The ASA's congragulated us on a job well done after the defendent was found guilty in a bench trial in one of the 3rd floor rooms. The judges name escapes me now. But I distinctly remember the court room being in on the 3rd floor. Now the kicker is when I get my disposition paper it is signed by the ASA saying thanks for your help but the defendent got a finding of not guilty. I thought I had read it in error but nope. I called the ASA and when she called me back, she told me that this is becoming a frequent thing. I explained to her why? The ASA said she thinks that it could be a sign of the times with the jails being overcrowded. Well....I call another ASA that I knew well from another courtroom and ask him. That ASA informs me that he is seeing this happen more and more to in 26th and Cal and believes off the record that envelopes are being passed. Good grief......so now are all judges suspect? What is going on. The ASA's gotta know something. A new law enacted recently that we don't know about? One thing after another at that 26th and Cal for sure. Oh yea don't forget to timestamp your slips too!!!!!
VOTE NO on Thaddeus Wilson. As an attorney he defended police fighters and other criminals. He also sued the city on behalf of thugs. Coincidentally, he does, or used to, share an office with Alderman Brookins, who in his spare time also defended criminals and community terrorists.

Nearly every judge talked about on this blog is not up for anything. The most importat thing is to make sure Epstein and Sullivan don't get their seats.
I’d vote for Doran over Ed Harmening (same race). Ed Harmening sr, his father was Tom Hyne’s patronage chief. You know, the one the 19th ward precinct captains used to love to hate.

Judge Linn has a real good opinion of himself too.
Yes for Fitzgerald and Angie Petrone, Both Cop friendly. Worked with Angie Petrone when she was an ASA. Knows the law and is tough. Won many very tough cases in her career as an ASA. Always was there for the PO's.

Nick Ford is one of the best. He caught some miscreants breaking into his car and chased them down himself! Way to go judge, always supports the police. Definitely on our side.

If one guy says you are an asshole, he might be wrong but is entitled to his opinion. if two people think you are an asshole I might begin to wonder if maybe they aren't right.
But just look at all the people on this list who think James Epstein is an asshole. That can mean only one thing: Judge Epstein is an asshole! A defense attorney through and through, liberal who bends over backwards to spring the guilty.
Thank Judge James Epstein (then lawyer Epstein & husband of Judge Joan Corboy) and the law firm of Corboy and Demetrio for Jeremiah Mearday going from one day being a west side dope slinging thug to a dapper young lad all dressed up in a Burberry trench coat and a Brooks Brothers suit.
If not for Epstein and the Corboys, Mearday just might have landed in IDOC a little sooner.

As I agree with the post I would like to pat my "Yes" vote out there for one particluar judge that is running. I have known Alan Murphy both on and off the job for the last 18 years. As an ASA he was a right thinking American and as a sitting judge now, he is in our court. I feel the same as most about most of the judges but I believe this guy deserves our support.

What is really sad is I think a police actually posted that.
At the VERY least he should take a hit for putting up campaign signs right across from his courthouse, where all the defendants have to stand and wait before he tosses their cases.
If you don't like it when he throws out your dope case without any questions from the defense attorney, wait till he starts hearing appeals of cases you've already won.
Just say no: Judge Calabrese at Branch 35-4. He goes out of his way to cater to the badguys. The private attorneys for the bad guys are his friends, and you will get sued after your case is tossed.
Ford is the judge version of the hair gell crew. Big goof. Chiampis became an asshole overnite. Desierto has no balls and fucked over a policeman.

in my own experience with him he tried to have me leave the court room by telling me it might be a long day because the defense attorney was tied up on another case, he literally haulted court,walked down from his throne after seeing me in the first row and said that to me.
i told him not to worry bout it im on days and have until 4
the transcripts of his racist rant is hard to believe, the asa was also shocked but upheld our side by using the law... the same thing that got the person locked up in the first place.

Thank you to all of the active law enforcement who will post the names of judges that they deemed not qualified. I agree wholeheartedly! It is really nice to have a forum (Thanks SCC!) where I can get the skinny on the good, the bad and the absolutely terrible judges and be informed when I enter the voting booth.
I just saw a warm and fuzzy television ad for Epstein that made him out to be the best human being on our planet. I am so glad to have the real story and will thoroughly enjoy voting against the POS. My vote against Epstein will be for the guys that got screwed over in the Jeremiah Mearday incident. Bye-bye Epstein!
