Kass Homers Again
A nice write up in yesterday's paper, describing bond court for the recent biting attack on an off-duty PO and some of the stories that didn't make the papers:
- One by one, the defendants stood before Ocasio — the 220-pound nipple biter was No. 58 on the list — and often they bowed their heads as Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti read the charges and extensive criminal records. Meek, eyes lowered, they didn't look as I pictured them with weapons in their hands, somebody bleeding on the ground, a neighbor calling 911.
One was accused of using his car to ram a police squad car, then blowing through several red lights and stop signs before crashing his car on the South Side. Police who pulled him out of the wreck found a semi-automatic pistol and several bags of cocaine. Authorities said he had seven felony convictions before this charge, including a conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Then came the two Insane Deuces, street gang members, almost dwarfish, heads shaved, topping out at a little less than 5 feet, accused of standing in the middle of 44th and Wallace, guns in their hands, firing at a car. The car contained a man, a woman and a toddler. They allegedly shot the man in the leg, twice. Their family members stood up in the gallery to protest. A skinny geezer, toothless, wispy hair, and two women, mouths open while listening, saying it was all lies.
Up next was a man accused of beating his girlfriend to a pulp, a thick-set fellow with too much grease in his hair. Allegedly, as he was being handcuffed, he pulled away, swinging the arm with the dangling cuff and slamming it the face of the arresting officer.
A tiny glimpse behind the curtain. Now how about swinging it wide?

I was at 26 and cal when John Kass walked up to ask a question, "Where is bond court". John had his red Chicago Fire scarf on a jacket and blue jeans. I said to my partner "That's John Kass from the Trib". Matt said who. I should have taken a minute and introduced myself and offered my services as a tour guide. But I walked on. Another missed opportunity to spotlight the game. Maybe next time. I do have a CPD soccer scarf that John could replace that Fire one with. What a shame I didn't have the forsight and just stopped. Maybe next time.

Oh baby oh baby. Johnnny Kass rock and rolls with this article. He told it exactly like it is. I was a bit skeptical when John took over the spot for the retired Mike Royko. But the kid has come through with writing really good columns. This article is what makes some of us want to cry out to the world and say see, see what is going on in the city. And nine out of ten times only cops understood what was going on with the criminal element and their inhumanity toward man. But like the ipod's exposure to the world in the last decade. Maybe, just maybe, our good citizens will get enlightened now and see and hear what is wrong with the system and demand change. Think about it.

For those who have never visited the village of the damned picture the banjo playing boy from deliverance. The only difference, take away the banjo and replace it with a firearm and pay particular attention to the white powder caked onto the nostrils. Fucking priceless.

What's the story here? This isn't news, it's life as usual. This is how these career criminals have lived their lives from day one. In and out of a failed system. A system that is supposed to keep society safe not turn a blind eye to failed humans. A shame is what it is. A fucking shame.

West Side shelter takes in Haitian refugees
The approximately 75 Haitian refugees who arrived at O'Hare International Airport Wednesday night are now living in a homeless shelter on the city's West Side. The earthquake victims are at the Chicago Christian Industrial League shelter at 2750 W. Roosevelt Road run by the Lawndale neighborhood's Safehaven Foundation, which provides shelter for homeless people, most of whom struggle with drug and alcohol abuse.
Fuck.....I work in 011 this is gonna suck. Those dope fiends in that place are gonna rob and rape all the folks from haiti. And the gangs are gonna have the kids selling dope and get their parents hooked on the shit. Why in the world woiuld you put refugees in a homeless shelter with dope heads and drunks.
Commander at 007 has the answer to low manpower on midnights. Todays paper has him sending 6 thats right 6 Officer Friendly's to the schools what on days with week ends off That will sure help the guys fighting crime on the midnights

if people actually knew half of what goes on in this city they would flee. after 12 years of working on the south side nothing shocks me anymore. people ask me to tell them crazy police stories like i used too, but i can't come up with any. it is just one giant mess. the citizens should pray the evil doers do not get past the thin blue line and forever change their life.

Manpower shortage? What manpower shortage? I look in my front seat and there are always two policeman there. Good men too! I know their fathers, all close friends of mine! I look out my window and there are always policement there, watching over me an mine. When I or Maggie need an errand run we just call and a policeman always shows up to run it for us. Why I even know my summer home, out of state, is protected, because there is a policeman there as well. So enough of this talk about police shortages. Everything is just fine.

SCC the PO asking for help in that thread showed the true value in your anonymous option. The responders who answered his call should be commended. MANY TIMES the call is not heard, the folks in that thread should be proud of how they responded with encouragement AND resources.

Moved to 57th and Pulaski whaere they opened Westlawn finer foods,john at 1 time was a butcher with his brother and father,that store had the best meat anywhere always quality. The daley jags after knowing john was a reporter started to bring action against the store,trying to close it down,but all the complaints rolled in and the neighborhood got mike madiagn to amke shortshanks backdown for awhile! Then shortshanks and his minions had an idea and set up the store with the under age buy bust bullshit,and the store faced a fine,which was paid. then you guessed it they did it again and wanted to close it down. The pressure was on so it was sold to "pete the greek" petes market (ediie burkes boy) who now employeess mexicans at little to no pay,and guess what no more inspections guess pete's owner "Jimmy" pays off? Paul O'Grady is the brother of Sheila O'Grady (former Chief of Staff to Mayor Richard Daley). DART recently did a phone campaign for O'Grady in Orland Park.
Paul O'Grady is the brother in law of Cook County Lieutenant "Hottub" Mrozek. No relationship known to former Sheriff James O'Grady.
