Then there's this brainiac getting convicted - at least they label her as "former" CPD:
A Cook County judge today convicted a 38-year-old Chicago woman of attempting to deposit a $1 million bogus check.
And not only was the defendant in Wednesday's bench trial a former Chicago police officer, but prosecutors say she attempted to deposit the bad check in her account at the Chicago Patrolmen's Federal Credit Union.
Circuit Court Judge William Lacy found former officer [...] guilty of forgery, attempted theft and official misconduct.

I think Killacky Senior retired as a Chief or Assistant Deputy Superintendent. He was promoted beyond a District. I do recall that.
As for this the Cabbie's overall story it sounds credible. I wish I could say my BS meter went up, but it didn't. He strikes me as a working guy who is pissed off, rightfully, that he had a weapon pointed at him.
I'd venture a guess that "daddy" was called and the Irish exempt mafia went into full cover up mode.
Generously, I would say 1 out of 10 cops has some "clout".

The problem with CPD over the past few (or many) years has been its management -- or mismanagement.
Too many bosses with names on political donors lists. It's probably an old practice but it's time to change all that.
But if you think about it, it's very machiavellian. It's this type of situation (government by long serving politicians in Crook County) that made our Founding Fathers create the separation of powers (executive, judicial and legislative branches) and later term limits.
George Washington set the tone when he only served two terms, not because he couldn't serve more. But because he knew change was good for the system.
People like Daley, and the Strogers, need to be voted out. When the likes of Daley stay in power too long, they start to consolidate and blur the separation of powers with all their patronage jobs.

However since I was not a city inspector of cabbies I wouldn't really know. McPier workers aren't the only one's scaring tourist's out of Chicago, these jerks do a good job too.

The Detective Killackey is actually 3rd generation. Grandfather was, and memory is starting to slip, I think Chief of Detectives and possibly Dep Supt of Investigative Services. Father was Cmdr of 9 and a Deputy Chief. It doesn't sound like he is getting too much help on this though. It is always good to wait and see what the whole story is before condemning.

VERY FEW people with 3-5 years on this job have learned enough to make them proficient in day-to-day operations of the CPD, let alone experienced the gamut of police work referenced in promotional exams, which would in turn enable them to know the correct answers to some of the questions on the test - especially if (in the case of Matt C. and friends) these clowns went right to a tact team off of probation.
Same with JK III. THERE WAS NO WAY 99% of these tools knew shit about a mittimus, how long a juvie can be held in secure custody and CAPS (just to name a few that came to mind) without studying the material beforehand. There's people with 30 years otj that have worked all over the place and in different capacities that wouldn't know shit like that unless it was spoon-fed to them or they stumbled up it in some obscure G.O.
The rest of us peons bought and studied "recommended reading materials" which covered dozens and dozens of GO's - the clouted were given recommended reading consisting of just the G.O.'s that would be referenced on the test...AND THAT IS A FACT AS TOLD BY AN OVER-SERVED MATT C. ASSOCIATE WHO ALSO MADE SGT. OFF THAT TEST.
So save the bullshit of "he tests well". I'd "test well" too if I were allowed to study the answers before the big day came.

Although I haven't seen or talked to little Jack in a few years now, I can tell you that when he first came on the job, he thought he knew everything and made no secret of the fact that he didn't need to "learn" anything. There was also a lot of talk & concern about his drinking. He was in his mid-twenties and there was no mistaking that he was well on his way to a big problem. It was bad then; can't imagine how much worse it is now -- unless of course he's been to rehab since this incident last April. Anybody know?

To all the supporters crying about "you werent in the cab with him"....I didnt need to be in the cab. When the cabby describes the pistol to a "T" and knows 3 of the "detectives" button in the proper sequence upon the immediate interview just after the incident is reported, HE OBVIOUSLY HAD THE GUN AND BUTTON CLOSE ENOUGH TO HIS FACE.
I dont care what anyone says...anyone with half a brain can figure out just what series of events played out in that cab and when Jackie Boy got out of it. Of course I wont elaborate here so the trolls dont try to figure it out, but there's no great mystery to solving this incident.
A grown man, drunk or not, should have enough common sense when situations like that arise. A SMART grown man with common sense wouldn't have let it get to that point to begin with.

Was this Jack Ass part of the tac team from 011 where something like 8 or 9 guys made detective? We have one or two of these "Wiz Kids" in Area 5 who claim it was all LEGIT, but mathematically the odds are ASTRONOMICAL for that many members of one group of ten people (ALL FROM THE SAME UNIT AND SAME TEAM)to make detective. Of course the Wiz Kids assigned to Area 5 could not find their ass with both ass and have very little police experience, but they CLAIM no one on their team had the answers. However, the floating integer in this mathematically impossible equation was none other than Pete DEVINE, Dick Devine's son, who was part of that tac team. BUT, HEY, I BELIEVE IT WAS LEGIT!!!!!!!!!

Old Jack was cohorts with the gang sgt's dad who happened to run this department. The same dad who gave the promo test to his son, not once but twice. First time the kid shaerd it with the whole tac team and second time he shared it with just a few. You see, he is getting smarter.
It's all legit, the same way a now Sgt. was able to take the 98 Detective exam in Peoria because he was getting married there. His groomsmen took the test as well. Amazingly they all got promoted. The Sgt had the gall to write Bill Nolan a letter thanking him for pulling strings which FLOP posted in the monthly newsletter. Shit never changes...

Ok, lets for just a minute assume JK III made detective "off the list". He was only so high up on the list because he was privy to the contents of the test long before it was administered to him.
Just like Matt C. and all his buddies who worked on the tact team in 011 with him. Several scored exceptionally well and were promoted off those respective lists.
VERY FEW people with 3-5 years on this job have learned enough to make them proficient in day-to-day operations of the CPD, let alone experienced the gamut of police work referenced in promotional exams, which would in turn enable them to know the correct answers to some of the questions on the test - especially if (in the case of Matt C. and friends) these clowns went right to a tact team off of probation.
Same with JK III. THERE WAS NO WAY 99% of these tools knew shit about a mittimus, how long a juvie can be held in secure custody and CAPS (just to name a few that came to mind) without studying the material beforehand. There's people with 30 years otj that have worked all over the place and in different capacities that wouldn't know shit like that unless it was spoon-fed to them or they stumbled up it in some obscure G.O.
The rest of us peons bought and studied "recommended reading materials" which covered dozens and dozens of GO's - the clouted were given recommended reading consisting of just the G.O.'s that would be referenced on the test...AND THAT IS A FACT AS TOLD BY AN OVER-SERVED MATT C. ASSOCIATE WHO ALSO MADE SGT. OFF THAT TEST.
So save the bullshit of "he tests well". I'd "test well" too if I were allowed to study the answers before the big day came.

Considering the fact that CPD promotional exams are pass/fail and the pass score bar is set at 40%, I am surprised that anyone is complaining that " clout study guides" were floating around. Anyone who can't score at least 40% on this exam has been sleeping though their career and did not bother to study at all.
