Mope-Rah Makes Sense?

We still won't link to her because we hold grudges, but Mary Mitchell appears to be coming down on the side of the NRA on this issue all of the sudden:
  • When Mayor Daley starts blaming "texting" and "drinking" by suburban high school students for a string of North Avenue beach arrests, it is time for the citizens to seriously get on his butt.

  • While preventing the city's downtown from becoming a ghost town like the downtown areas in so many other cities, Daley is faced with another daunting challenge: How to keep huge chunks of Chicago neighborhoods from becoming crime-ridden ghettos.

But Daley's stubborn defense of his handgun ban is clouding his judgment.

  • There aren't enough police officers to protect and serve; enough good parents to raise the children; enough jobs; enough recreational activities or enough grandparents to take up the slack.

Today, there is a noticeable lack of the things that keep communities safe
Yeah, no shit Mary. If you had been listening to us and our readers three years ago, you'd have been ahead of the curve instead of playing catch-up today. We and others pointed out the poorly thought out stance the "reverends," community activists and media were taking years ago painting the police as the enemy and ignoring the elephant in the living room on the south and west sides. Now it's bedlam and everyone is realizing it isn't going to get better without some real solutions starting with cops and armed citizens. Cameras, prayer vigils and more misspent money isn't going to do it.

Welcome to the party - finally.

Personally, I believe Chicago is worth fighting for. It's easy to be cynical to the point of fatalism but in the end, I do believe that. The *only* people who are capable of taking up this fight are the police and the citizenry who draws their line in the sand and refuse to budge from it.

Obviously, denying the citizenry an effective means of defense makes everything that comes after immaterial- since you've created a victim class- but really, it goes much deeper than just being armed.

We must support the policemen that work in our communities. A kind wave or a thumbs-up goes a long way.

We must not be afraid to call 911 when 'something's up' in our area. Aggregate 911 calls translate into allocated resources.
Every LINK Card carrying shitbird does not hesitate to call 911 over every conceivable domestic squabble or parenting issue, yet the good people who actually pay taxes let things like burglaries and assaults to unreported! This must stop. Call, call, call.

Most importantly, though, we must send a message to city hall that we support our police 'when the gloves come off' against the thugs and that Chicago is not an easy place to be if you're a parasite, criminal or goon. When Section 8 comes into a neighborhood, the police and citizens alike must send a message to them that you're being watched- closely- and we strike back viciously if you think you will victimize our families and communities.

WTF? A point like this SHOULD have been made in the 80's and 90's with the crack wars...

...it's 2010, the housing projects were built and torn down, and NOW-- now she's calling for neighborhoods not to "become" crime-ridden ghettos!?!?

Problem with Mitchell and all the reverends is that there's a disconnect with those values and the ideal way of life that they hope for. Electing garbage politicians who vote for liberal agendas wont correct the problems of urban America.

Being anti business by raising taxes wont bring jobs to your community. Putting liberal judges on the bench wont put the fear of God into criminals. Appeasing teachers union and not having a voucher system wont fix your schools.

The politicians in place love the status quo. It gives them job security. Jesse, SR and Jr, Danny Davis, all the aldermen, the reverends make a ton of money off the heartache of people.

Unfortunately an uneducated populace is doomed.

I agree with one of the other posters that Mitchell is back/forth on issues.
For a couple of years, it seemed like she had gotten more racist than ever for a few years (RE: Chgo Tonight appearances) and had gotten difficult to believe some of her statements.
Who knows---perhaps her bout with cancer has made her see things in a more balanced fashion?
In the end, we all know Daley is wrong. We can all see that he has flipped out and cannot see what is really going on any longer.

Mary Mitchell has selective memory at best and is a pandering yellow journalist at worst who has painted herself into the corner of irrelevancy for defending the indefensible for all these years.

As surely as there are no atheists in foxholes when red hot iron, shit and body parts are flying around, a sworn Police-Hater undergoes a conversion of convenience by immersion because she's "seen the light."

Amusing, but not so much...

...So now, after all these years of defending savagery and pandering/giving material aid to those who live a throw-away lifestyle of willful ignorance, artfully dodged responsibility and non-existant impulse control while vilifying the eternal mother-lovin' shit out of the POLICE who are COMPELLED to respond and fix it/make it go away/make sense of nonsense & ghetto fuckery?

Muthafuckahs PUH-LEEZE! Go away but kiss our ass first before you leave!

Now you fools want to holler for the Police?

What's the matter? Has the toilet of society overflowed so badly that you purveyors of perpetual victimhood and preachers of "everybody else's fault but my own" need the Police to jiggle the handle?

YOU had a material hand in the BIGGEST possible way of this city's descent into utter fuckin' madness by going along with 42 extra-short in making the Police out to be the enemy and YOU know this!

Now the Policeman laughs because you're foolishly burning alive in the HELL of YOUR OWN MAKING while you try to heap coals on our heads just because we have the nerve to wear a silly blue suit and the gall to respond when YOU call!

Now you want to scream "help us" when mere weeks ago you were yelling "fuck you and everything you stand for?"

As we posted on prior occasions, the Policeman, for the most part, is the ONLY one in the public arena compelled to adhere to any modicum of moral or ethical standard. The mayor is not. Neither is the media. Nor are the aldercreatures, runnin' dog rev'runs

(Damnation and Hell will surely seize you decayed preachers of ignorance, selfishness, false and untrue doctrines and the intellectually lazy theology of perpetual victimology. Lead not his flocks astray you Pharisees!)

We for the most part don't really care all that much anymore.

The people crying and yelling for the Police to return to the take no shit, knock heads and kick ass ways of good, old fashioned Chicago Policing just don't understand.

No Policeman in his right mind is going to lay himself on that altar ever again.

There is nothing remaining that makes such a thing worthwhile anymore. Period.

The people have embraced barbarism and spit in the faces of the ones sworn to protect them.

The Policeman has swallowed insult after outrage after insult along with withering attacks on his dignity and pride.

The Policeman has been relegated to second class citizenship and denial of his right to even be human.

Men have taken up arms to set lesser outrages right...

As for Mary Mitchell?

Way too little, way too late and let's too many of the main actors off the hook.

The Police didn't break this shit, it isn't for the Police to fix it.

We said it, too damn bad if you don't like it!

They want the police until they get them. Then they'll want them out.

When will you people learn. They want you to do things FOR them, but when you do police work for society as a whole, they get mad. They say you're dirty. They say you're racist. They say it in unison.

Its not the mayor who wanted a hands-off police department. ITS THE PEOPLE WHO WANTED IT.

Crime is up because we have finally entered the era where a majority of Chicago citizens are no longer committed to justice. They want to be safe, but they do not care to keep anyone else safe. They see crime and if they are not the victim, they could care less. Hundreds of cold blooded murderers released and given hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars because the citizens of Chicago could give a shit about crime when they are not the victim.

They now realize they will likely become future victims. It is too late to help them. No amount of police officers can fend off what is comming.

Justice is comming. He is angry and he comes in the form of the criminals that the people of Chicago have nutured and supported. Justice is comming and there is no stopping him. What will happen will not be pretty, but it will be right, and it will be well deserved.

There is a disconnect between reality and wishful thinking with these liberals. They want what just can't be and do everything in their power to make these things so, even though they are contrary to human nature. Disarm the citizens, you get more violence. But without weapons, it was supposed to be Nirvana! Give people free stuff, they work less. But they now have what they need! They turn waiting in line for free stuff into their job. Why would anyone want to live on what the government will give you? There is more to life than that, but I guess if that's all you saw your parents do, then you should do the same......

Don't get excited.

This is the same lady who wrote a column a couple of days ago about how we mis -judge innocent youths. A woman had called her regarding a makeshift memorial. The woman interpreted it as a threat against "snitchers". Mitchell rode to the scene and saw 3 "youths" in the uniform - White T shirt etc. Mary took the time to talk to the "youths" and discovered that it was a memorial to some kid who had beeen shot 3 years ago. Mary felt this was all very touching and the moral of the story was that we are quick to judge, but if we actually talked to these "youths" like she did we might discover they are sensitive little angels.

The youths professed to have no kknowledge or details surrounding the shooting and she conveniently did not ask about any gang affiliations.

Mary is not the solution -she is part of the problem. Turns a blind eye to all of the negative behavior and only complains about the result when it becomes overwhelming. Her columns have supported all of the liberal policies that have brought this about but she does not see the connection.

So - don't get excited. She is like the battered woman who every now and then just can't take it anymore and wants the bum out - but only for the night. Watch for her next columns - nothing will change.

But, some days at lunch, I confess I do walk around by the Everest "students" so I can get a cheap mild buzz off the blunts that they smoke right outside, open and notorious.
