Shortshanks Cares About Us!

  • Last Friday, as Daley awaited the Supreme Court ruling, he continued to fret about the dilemma the ruling would cause police officers, firefighters and paramedics arriving at emergency scenes.

“What does a first-responder [do when they] come to your home, if you have 50 guns and you pointed a gun at your wife? You have a legal right to a gun,” the mayor said.

Um, Mayor Asshat? It's illegal to actually point a gun at your wife. Seriously. Look it up. You were the Cook County States Attorney for how long? What a fucking stupid argument Shortshanks is attempting to make.

And as for the pretend concern, the fact is any cop who has worked the streets has responded to a location where there was a gun. And if you maintain situational awareness and keep things under control, you usually never even saw the gun. People don't run around broadcasting they've got guns in the home. If they did, the CPD would have taken it away and they wouldn't have it when they needed it.

The fact is that legally owned firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens are seldom a problem. Legit citizens don't usually have run-ins with the police and don't need the police around to live upright and moral lives. What they do need is a means to defend themselves, their families and their homes when the government can't. Like when there hasn't been any police hiring for 2-plus years and manpower shortages are becoming so acute that even the aldercreatures can't make excuses that sound like anything but BS.

You know....like today.

Ironic that Tricky Dick & Co. will do all they can to eradicate (at least) one of our original Constitutional rights, just before the 4th of July!

Happy Birthday, America!

(and to our forefathers, spinning in their graves, I apologize that this ass has gone as far in government service as he has!)

The very same thing we do now: Lock you up!

Daley should know all about pointing guns at people. He committed an aggravated assault on a reporter at a press conference recently.

There's a gun at EVERY job I go to: Mine.

20% of police officers are shot with THEIR OWN gun. If he's so damn concerned, how about some actual TRAINING.

We have no fear of the upright, law abiding, captive tax payers who have firearms in their homes or on their persons/in their vehicles as they go about their business!

Shortshanks doesn't give a flea-shit about first responders... Or anyone else that hasn't pledged loyalty to Daley Inc. or the Chicago Democratic Machine.

His insane babbling about lawful firearm owners pointing guns at children in the presence of Police is purely the talk of one who lives in coo-coo cloud land.

This prick would be a prime candidate for an involutary admission by the Police if here were ever caught wandering the street... Of course he would always manage to chew through his restraints and flee.

This little prick is DERANGED and the voters of Chicago SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES for continously re-electing his ass.
CITY EMPLOYEES INCLUDED!

The current sorry-assed state of affairs is a damning indictment of the character, intelligence and morality of everyone who has ever pulled a lever or campaigned for him. Shorty is gearing up to run again and of course the municipal worker ass-kissers who have taken it without a kiss, handshake or lube (reneged labor agreements, cut hours, multiple weeks of unpaid days = pay cuts/give backs) will be ringing door bells for crumbs from shorty's ass only to be forced to forfeit those same crumbs later because of "budgetary concerns."

The l'il crime king has destroyed this city making it an UNLAWFUL immigrant sanctuary and catering to non contributing, tax absorbing mutts who are the main ones spraying bullets and bullshit all over the place.

Shorty will spend this city into abject poverty defending the indefensible gun ban (hooked-up lawyers, lobbyists and the usual cabal with the same last names that have gotten their dicks wet on the tax payers while getting fat at the municipal trough... kickbacks anyone?) and will throw up any bullshit argument. But it's all back of the bus kabuki theatre & 3 card monte exposition designed to distract people from making him answer the really hard questions that he hates like, Where is the approximately $12 billion to $15 billion of municipal treasury that has gone *poof* since he's been in office? Why are so many of his Daley Inc. associates going to prison?

Et cetera, ad nauseam et ad infinitum...

I heard Daley say that crap on the news too, I was dumbfounded upon hearing it ... he made less sense than a drunken shitbum trying to justify his misdeads to the police. Only the reverends seemed to know what he was talking about .. and if that is not a red flag I don't know what is.

Huh – didn’t know that civilians were not allowed to post. I guess that makes me a rule scofflaw all the way around.

I don’t know what the big deal is. Your boss has got everybody in an uproar over nothing. If a person is against guns – they won’t go buy any. If a person is for guns – they already have them. So there is not going to be a big run on them. Just means that I can bring mine home from my desk at work (out of the city limits), because – you know – I am a stickler for rule following (misdemeanors scare the bejesus out of me).

The only thing good that will come of this is… well nothing

Just tired about reading about the BS.

Thanks – stay safe out there…

Richie cares so much for our safety that he's worried a about a gun law because NOW we have to worry about a gun in every house. I thought we were trained to believe that every disturbance, domestic, traffic stop, street stop could turn dangerous and that someone may have a gun. The amount of domestics handled in the ghetto districts is unbelievable. How many of these callers have criminal records, including UUW's? I would bet a lot. The gun law has nothing to do with how I will answer my jobs. Always assume there is a weapon.

The main point that is sad is Daley's hypocrisy about our safety. We are short. There are 99 units on midnites in 007 and 008 every nite. Same with 005 and 011. This is a safety issue first and foremost. Yet Richie won't hire.

Combine our understaffed department with the understaffed OEMC. No matter what is said about some at OEMC, they are our safety valve and crucial to us on the street. The dispatchers are denied RDO's and made to work mandatory OT to cover the gap. Some are working 16 hour shifts. Some are working 7,8, 9 days straight. A tired dispatcher is a danger to us. Yet, for all his safety talk, this is never mentioned.

So, an undermanned, overworked patrol division is being dispatched by an overworked, tired dispatch center. What could possibly go wrong Mr. Mayor?

I remember when the CAD system we use now was supposed to auto matically tell the dispatcher of the Previous CAll History at a particular address. I've nevr heard one caution alert given by a dispatch, unless someone actually requests a History Lookup. So now are we going to have a CAd database that will tell us that there are guns in the house? Wont be long for them gang bangers to sit down with a scanner and mark down where dem "bangers" b.

Here's the deal: with the City of Chicago firearm ban, we still were pointed at, shot at and unfortunately KILLED with firearms. It didn't help the police or other first responders. It's not the guns, it's the person's behavior that's out of control. Be it guns, hands, fists, bats, knives, whatever, they will fight anyone, law enforcement or someone who cut them off in traffic.

I am a firefighter/paramedic in Chicago. We are taught in the academy to assume there is a gun at every scene. I have been to scenes where there are weapons (knives, shanks, even a gun) and drugs laying around. Its all about scene safety - if we dont like it - we leave. MOst of the time we grab the patient and relocate.

Daley is so out of touch with reality it isn't even funny. Guns ARE out there already! The only thing this law was preventing was the HONEST people, like me, from owning one. I don't have the luxary of a full time security detail....just 1 beat car for a 2 square mile area...if we are lucky....
SCREW YOU DALEY--- RETIRE OR BE IMPEACHED!! Either way just leave..

hey Daley, Quit acting like, and pretending to care about, what happens to Chicago Police Officers. You are a communist, anti-police, out of control, thief of a mayor, who has stolen and miss-spent the City into massive debt and problems. Our big 2% raise tells just exactly how you really feel about us, so just shut the fuck up and quit using us for your political games with your cohorts, the socialist mainstream Chicagoland news media.

If this little prick actually cared about police officers responding to incidents of people with guns he long ago would have made sure that the CPD is adequately staffed. How many people are we short? 1,000,
2000,or is it more like 3,000.
Somebody should send City Hall copies of watch work sheets where
the majority of 1st and 3rd Watch cars are working 99.
Or better yet send them to the media outlets and maybe one of them will the cajones to make an issue of it.

WOW this is a good one. I am not a cop but am a 1st responder(ff) and guess what shit4brains(shortshanks. I have gone on calls where during a domestic battery one spouse had a gun pointed at the other. So this means nothing new to me. I also work in the Englewood area and go on all sorts of calls for someone being shot. Guns have been illegal for how long? And the shootings are still high. I assume that every chouse that I go to that there is a potential for someone to have a gun. It's the area that I work in. But guess what Dick(for brains)? Now I can LEGALLY have a gun in my house to protect me & my family for the POS that come to my neighborhood to commit crimes because of the following reasons.
1) we might have things that they can't get robbing house in their area.
2) they are more hessitant to rob their neighbors because there might be a gun there.
3) because there are very few police in my area because they are always lifted and sent to the ghetto to help because of the HUGH manpower shortage.

I really don't want a gun in my house but I need to do what I need to do. But if you want you can assign a cop to city in front of my house, a cop in back of my house, have a coupole of them drive me around every where I go, And a few to take my wife and kids whenever they want to go somewhere and I would feel the same way that you do. Which is I GOT MINE SO FUCK THE REST OF THEM

Funny coincidence, Gator's name came up just the other day. I was listening to the, (now fired), Steve Cochran show on WGN radio last week. It was just before he was replaced by the convicted felon, (wonder about the Tribune Co.), James Lasky.
Steve had some reporters on and one of them was talking about how the Pawn Shop Star is getting back into politics. They said that the new candidate paid Gator Bradley and his people in excess of $1.oo per signature for his petitions. He had thousands over the required amount.
The problem is that the cost of the process could be prohibitive to challange all the signatures. So, now Gator has a horse in the governor's race?
Think this was a planned event?
Divide and reelect?
