Last Night's Totals
- Two people were killed and at least 15 people were wounded in a spate of shootings across the city late Friday and early this morning, Chicago police said.
A man was fatally shot in the head at 12:34 a.m. on the West Side in East Garfield Park, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. The shooting occurred in the 3900 block of West Wilcox Street. The 28-year-old man, identified as Reggie Coles, 1200 block of North Keeler Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Separately, a man was killed and a woman wounded in a shooting that happened about 10 minutes later in the 2100 block of North Springfield Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood, police said.
And it continued throughout Saturday:
- A man believed to be in his 50s was shot and killed this afternoon in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said.
- A man about 18 years old was shot in the neck in the South Side's Parkway Gardens neighborhood tonight, authorities said.

Is it possible that someone feels that the personnel are so ill trained and unknowledgable that they seek safety in numbers? Therefore three to a car?
At a time when there are so few police and so many deaths and/ or injuries inflicted upon officers it seems to me that more units on the street would be a greater benefit than not.

We need a leader/superintendent that will allow us to be the police again and to take back control. things are getting worse. No support from bosses, media, the mayor, fine church groups and liberal citizens. when will enough be enough? we are almost 4000 police officers short. media cover that please, alderman why is this not an issue being discussed and taken care of? instead we waste months discussing walmart? what a joke, build the walmart and hire officers there is an easy 10,000 jobs that the mayor can look like a prince for providing.

Are you new? Strike Force works west and TRU works south, MSF also goes to 008,the reason they're in a car 3 or 4 deep is because they have no cars and the ones they do have are decrepid and unsafe, or sometimes a partner is off and the other partner works three-deep with the rest of the team. Get a clue, they have no resources either..

I know of that part of their patch.
I was introduced to the Montana $20.00 grab by a Montana Highway Patrol Officer too. I was doing 15 over the speed limit on US Rt 12 between Tumbleweed Junction and Sheepdip Creek, or some towns like that. No other cars on that 60 mile stretch but me and the MHP Officer, going the other way.
He stopped me, I identified myself and I learned that the bond for the speeding ticket he gave me was $20.00, the exact amount of the fine, if I should choose not to go to court.
There is a bond receipt right on each ticket.
It was goodbye $20 to the MHP, police or no police, he wasn't even listening to police. They write the US Border Patrol and Customs Officers up there, mere CPD is like another country to them.
I learned from other officers who have been through similar stops that they too had to shell out the $20. The only good news was it didn't go on my Illinois driving record.
Remember, no more unlimited speed limit in Montana. Have a supply of twenties ready if you don't believe me.
Those guys are out there alone doing traffic stops on drunken Indians and cowboys 50 miles from town with no backup. And they were making around $30,000 a year. that was 4 years ago.
My pension will be more than their salary. And the $20 I gave him gets turned in I bet. He wrote it on the ticket.

We don't know what fantasy blog you've been reading, but it certainly isn't this one.
We were never "anti-Dugan." We were "point out the boneheaded moves Dugan and others made." Pointing out errors, missteps and blown calls isn't "anti-anything."
And as for Cline being a prince, he deserved any and every bit of blame we laid at his feet for promoting incompetent and unqualified hacks. That opinion hasn't changed in the least.

After all an outburst of violence was cited as a reason for demoting Dan Dugan. Could there be different treatment depending on skin pigment?
