Manager Resigns
- It was a day of mixed emotions that began with the Cubs announcing Piniella was retiring effective Monday to return home to Florida to care for his ailing 90-year-old mother, Margaret, and ended with an ugly 16-5 loss to the Braves.
Typical Cubs. And even Lou leaving can't inspire them to put forth the effort to win a game.
As someone said, the owners aren't going to be improving the team until the seats aren't being filled. In the Blackhawks case, it took a procession of losing years, thousands of empty seats and the death of the owner to change fortunes. The Cubs have the losing years down pat and a new owner. If season ticket holders start returning their tickets or refusing to renew? They might actually win something this century.

Feel sorry for Lou winning world series then retiring from the worst team in history. The cubs are like Chicago just shitty.
I would have rather seen J-Fled resign at a news conference!
VOTE DALEY OUT 2011
How about having the Cubs retire as a baseball team?
You really can't compare the Blackhawks and the Cubs when it comes to filling seats. Those Hawks fans stayed away because they were actually fans of the game and couldn't stand to watch the lousy product on the ice that was passed off as an NHL team. In the case of the Cubs, however, the Wrigleyville groupies care very little about the quality of the product. It's more about the beer and the "experience."
If only Daley and J-fraud would do the same!
Since Lee was traded, Theriot was traded Cubs 20 plus games out why should Pinella stick around for more aggravation?
Hawk fans stayed away until the Hawks weren't known as the "Cubs on Ice".
103 more years...I love it.
If Lou Pinella can't take the Cubs to the World Series, then nobody can. I really thought that he was the guy that was going to do it. But it was not to be nor will it ever be. Of that I'm sure.
the real cub fans
You could put the fucking 1927 Yankee's team in Cub uniforms and they'd lose. Best mgr in the 60's Leo the lip with a loaded team (3 hall of famers) couldn't win it. Lou comes to town full of piss & vinegar and after 4 long futile seasons he ages 10 yrs and leaves town crying. Over 100 yrs and they say they are not jinxed. I say BULLSHIT
