Did We Miss Something?
Chicago police officials have moved about 150 officers from one of the department's crime-suppression units into the most dangerous districts to focus on the violent crime plaguing those streets, officials said.
The so-called saturation teams have been divided across the department's five geographic areas and float around the districts as needed when crime heats up.
But a recent review of arrests for the teams showed they were not always tackling the violent crimes happening in the communities they were assigned to. Officials said they were also concerned that the teams were often operating under the direction of a sergeant, not an ideal for monitoring officer conduct.
So now the teams -- 145 officers and 12 sergeants -- are being assigned to the districts with the most calls for police and the highest rates of violent crime. They will answer to district commanders, who will decide where to send them, police said.
And what the heck was this quote?
- Officials said they were also concerned that the teams were often operating under the direction of a sergeant, not an ideal for monitoring officer conduct.

You are a fucking FOOL if you do anything resembeling "Police Work"!
Great...Looks like this is where J-Fled fills another MSF team and continues to screw the districts and citizens of manpower. More sillyness.
Who wrote this press release and how drunk were they when it was released?
you are likely confusing inebriation with willful ignorance, perhaps with a dash of political agenda for 'flavor'.
A patrolman being paid director's pay is a much better route to go... This department is falling a part right in front of our eyes...
SOUNDS LIKE A MASS DUMP TO SHIT HOLE DISTRICTS!
THE OLD VOLUNTEERS HAVE NO RIGHTS?
BE CAREFUL IF YOU ARE IN A LOVELY DISTRICTS ON MID-NITES AND THINK U ARE GETTING OVER BIDDING TO AN "ELITE" UNIT.
Too funny...19 more working days of this nonsense! Be safe and keep laughing at their antics. They are dumber than the criminals we arrest!
My head is spinning.
nd who exactly do the anonymous "officials" think the officers were reporting to? Have they no knowledge of the chain of command? Officers report to Sergeants. Sergeants report to Lieutenants. Lieutenants fall under the oversight of Captain. It's called a "chain of command.
------------------------------------
Uh, the deputy runs the show to show off his bs 1-bag arrests at the down town meetings. No Lt. necessary.
I just examined the City budget. I saw district managers are in it. Over $3.5 million to CAPS. Exempts making on average over $150,000 a year. These are just numbers in terms of salary that do not include City pension contributions, health care, vacation benefits, etc. As a PO I could cut $30 million without blinking an eye. Transparency in government is always amazing. THE PENSION IS GOING TO GO BANKRUPT WITHOUT ACTION TO ELIMINATE THIS WASTE.
This is a misappropriation of resources. Police need to be stationed in the nice areas to keep the gangbanger thugs out. Let them stay in the ghetto and do what they want. The residents of these neighborhoods have already given up; why should limited police resources be wasted trying to keep animals from killing each other?
Two investigators from Cook County were on their way to pick up a prisoner in one of the southern states when they were stopped for speeding by a trooper in southern Indiana. They were in an unmarked cage car with M plates and he wrote them. Sometimes I can't believe were all on the same side.
OFF TOPIC....
Jody had a news conference on the wrong incident. Just to show you how incompetent these people are. IAD stripped 7 coppers and knew that ther incident happened out south. However, JFED spent more time planning a press conference than taking time to find out what incident he was talking about and had a press conference talking about an non-incident in 001. IPRA is going crazy on this one.
********************************
is there any truth to this??? if so whats the deal with the 7 coppers stripped and for what? what a joke weis and this department is... this was from a post yesterday.
014 is falling apart!

This is total bullshit. The saturation teams reported to a sergeant who got their deployment orders from the Area Deputy Chief who is higher in the food chain than the district commanders.. Contrary to what the story reads the Officers returned to their districts of assignment. Which means if officers in area 4 that were deployed from 010, 011,012 & 013 were always in 011 now those officers went back to where ever they were detailed from which means that 011 lost 12 bodies. So instead of being deployed to 011 while on saturation they went back to yuppyville in 012 and 013 etc.... Oh well? Officers weren't really hurt.
***off topic***
Thanks LT. L at safe-city! Your efforts to keep the PO's working this detail a little bit safer are definitely appreciated, and the common sense is definitely overdue.
Did saturation have that many po's and sgt's? Weren't they made up of 10 po's and 1 sgt? 5 areas + CCG = 6 teams
All this turmoil, all this stress. I hope this helps:

It's incredible but I grew up in Englewood, basically poor white trash. It was so much fun to watch an episode of LITB, which was more like a time capsule of our past. People weren't ignorant. They didn't waste their time watching TV for hours and hours.
We never lived like the Cleavers but it was kinda nice to see how to act and behave. Our homes weren't perfect but they were clean. We had to IMPROVE ourselves to reach the level of the Cleavers. Wally and the Beve didn't have to even THINK about anything like gangs, dope, guns, police or jail. Girls stuffed their bras, kids were polite and everything could be fixed with an ice cream cone.
Everyone used to say things like "60 years from now we'll be going to work in our flying cars and robots will take care of us." Instead of better, we have this awful reality. Living in a city that is teetering on chronic civil disobedience. A city full of people standing with their hands out, waiting for money they never earned.
God bless Mrs. Billingsly for setting a benchmark in a time between WWII and Vietnam. Kids could be kids and we all hoped to make the world a better place. We now know that the days of Ward and June were possibly the pinnacle of our culture in America.
Those were the days.
(p.s. Fuck you Jody and MASTERS MASTERS MASTERS. Free Cozzi.)
The nerve of those police officers, not assigning themselves a sergeant to report to. Bunch of "rogue" cops no doubt.
And which whorehouse, gambling joint or opium den were the sergeants hiding in while these police officers were out there all alone?
Then why are there sergeants?
With in-car cameras, GPS, and PDT's a couple of lieutenants can handle it.
Next they will be saying that cameras in the sky will prevent and solve crimes.
Oh yea...

assign them all to one unit and make CW the commander, they will all run back to districts as fast as they can, problem solved.
Wow EB, that's an outright lie. They were sent back to their districtl of assignment to work the watch, stop blowing smoke! I know you don't really think you have a chance in hell to be the new sup!
This is ALL smoke and mirrors...
THE TRUTH:
Arrest activity DID go down in a certain Area when they put this wiz kid in charge of 'predicting crime" They put these guys in 2x2 boxes and they were told not to leave. Even if nothing was happening in the box, the guys were told that was considered a success since no one got shot in their box. Truthfully. Sgt's DID bitch about cops being held to boxes and that activity was suffering, but the exempts said activity was not important - be VISIBLE. Also, certain areas had a CAPS Lt. in charge, moving these guys around for CAPS related bullshit and running personal errands at HER whim. They don't want good Sgt's being in charge, but it's ok for CAPS Lt's who were supposed to be in charge to never be around?? I have no problem with disbanding the unit (nothing lasts forever), but don't blame it low activity and por supervision, blame it on the stupid f**** at HQ
So the elite officers now have to work with the dogs of the district?
Rumor has it that RayRay is heading to MSF in charge of the new platoon. Its a way for him to get back in the same unit as swat without bumping out the swat lt. After JR retires from his spot, RayRay can then move up from inside the unit.
What a bunch of lying pieces of crap, for the last 3 months of our existence (Area1) downtown Ernie gangbanging Brown had us in boxes in areas with no crime so naturally arrests plummeted and they are going to say activity caused the disbanding BULLSHIT!!!! When we complained that the area we were in was dead with only 2 calls for service a month we were told "dont worry about arrests just dont you leave that box" And our orders came from the Deputy not a Sgt, these wanna be political hacks lie lie lie lie what a shame

AGREE 110% The animals are now running wild,as the politicians use "OUR TAX MONEY" as a free giveaway to the non-working and illegal scumbags!
TRU is next......
Officers to be sent to MSF or used as backfill in various southside shitpits based on clout.
For the person saying we need to keep coppers in the homefront.Couldnt agree more butthe problem is 016 is coming in with such bs arrests ,the brass dont think theres a problem. The commander isnt gonna say anything ,that makes him look like shit. If the guys in 016 would start coming in with good shit besides drinkers,1 baggers ,then they would have an argument. They actually have a few good guys there with around 15 up to 25 or so, years still working. But the young guys that started out there are useless ,they dont listen and dont wanna learn. So you would think bangers would stop at Belmont knowing all coppers live in 016. Heres an interesting thing I heard .There are more off duty related felony arrests ,than those made by pos actually on tour, thats a fact in 016. Its something like 70 percent of felony activity is called in bu off duty pos.
All of the CAPS officers who DID NOT stay in the CAPS office got taken care of. NOT ONE, NOT ONE PO from the 023rd CAPS Office will work a watch in the 23rd District. A foot post was created for one on 2nd Watch w/ weekends off, 2-3 school cars were created for the rest along w/ a SGT. to supervise these school cars, on 2nd Watch of course w/ weekends off. Oh and by the way there are NO High Schools in the 23rd District and the one semi HS we have already have 2 PO's assigned to it. Lets also not forget the "quality of life car" whose start time ranges from 1200 to 1700 hrs depending on what the PO's feel like working. This car takes NO JOBS at all. Are there any similar stories out there from other Districts?????

Congratulations in advance, Officer. Be careful and stay safe these next 19 days. Wishing you and your family a happy transition.
I was on one of the area teams that got cut. We all went back to our original districts. This is all BS
Why is this news?
Are Loe and Ernie battling out forth top job?
God help us if either is put in charge.
The day needs to come when we put this union back together. Those who decide to voluntarily leave patrol are responsible for weakening contract protections for the rest of us. This includes tact and gang teams and the now former sat teams. They're not the same as ETs or dicks who at least took a test to get where they are. Too many officers are using their clout to make things better for themselves at the expense of the rest of us.
I propose that those who have left patrol should no longer get the protection of patrol. Tact or gang teams who need the police can simply pull out their phone and call 911 like any other shitbird. We'll get to them as time permits.
Keep Working!!!
WTF this shit gets stupider by the minute. A2 Saturation and midnight tact team had great number. We gave the Deputy just what he asked for and carried him for years. What a stupid decisiin to disband. Now the same shit starts with a different group of officers. We aint doing shit. We are dead in the water and will not do a damn thing until we get a new Superintendent. What a slap in the face for us. Fuck Jody and DA. DA did not try to help his people get anywhere. Partners were split up and back on the beat. Im talking about officers who had 3-5 heads a day quality arrest and guns. That says a lot about the people you work for. Dont mind working the watch. Let MSF and the crew handle the biz.
I guess the textbooks don't apply to Chicago! The basis for Community Policing is the premise based on the Kansas City Study of the 1970's, that increased police presence does not reduce crime. So why is CPD going to deploy the personnel when the academics say it will not have an effect?
017 has CAPS POs and a SGT still Way to Lead Mikey
That's just it! There is no Command in this department! Too many chiefs and not enough Indians!

I watch the weather channel, news (Al Jazeera, 6 PM on Channel 20-3, I think, is one of the best in the world) -- and LITB, Andy Griffith, and other black-and-white shows from the time when programs ended with that "seal of approval" from the National Association of Broadcasters; a notation that the show met some kind of standards. I think this was declared unconstitutional around 1982...

Saturate the areas that are already saturated? Englewood has FIFTEEN primary beats and it's one of the smaller districts. Cops tripping all over themselves and still you can't put a lid on the bullshit.
A car dedicated to the row houses at cabrini.....and for what?
And the nicer places in the city? You're lucky to have one cop covering a square mile.

HAHAHHA......... I just watched the Sunday eve. news and both NBC & WLSa re saying that the fucking nit wit that leads us created another unit, This one started as a piolt program in Area 1 with the Gang Enforcement Guys and now its moving to Area 2.
More guys with take home cars to "mentor" the violent gangsters---THIS IS FUCKING HYSTERICAL!!!! Didn't we used to have a school patrol unit-- I wonder what the ratio of violence is compared to when the School patrol Unit was around.
Off Topic: It appears early on that Emanuel is the front runner for next Mayor of Shitcago...perhaps the FOP leadership should meet with him. Whoever wins the election, it's clear that MASTERS
(3M) must go. It's likely that Masters has already reached out to Rahm and networked with him, if they aren't friends already, but 3M has done far too much harm to the CPD behind the scenes which he will never take the blame for. Enough is enough, he's gotta go, even if Emanuel becomes the next Mayor. I'm sure Rahm can find a suitable space under the Mayoral desk for someone with 3M's unique talents after he's been sworn in. 'ANYWHERE EXCEPT 3510.'
Perhaps we should all wear shirts with that slogan imprinted on the front, with a 'sworn credentials' diploma from a South Suburban PD.

I feel it's better to boost MSF because at least when they come into a district, whatever problems exist with district coppers who feel that thier arrests will be taken or stolen by MSF, TRU or whoever is Baseless, I would welcome the help, especially when the do nothing Dog Asses, which every district has never help you out. Remember it's not these coppers in specialized units fault that they are assigned there, under the MSF system anyone can interview to get there and believe what you want, but it's about 95% legit in getting there, I'm a Sgt there and I see it all, strap on a pair of balls and get yourself into a unit and appreciate when extra help comes to your district. Sadly, yes. You are not alone. But who cares? I'm happy I have a job. And like every other job I've held, it's what I make it. There will always be those out there who will, for one reason or another, be taken care of. It was no different when I was in the private sector.
If advancement on the job is held up for lack of clout, then just stay where you are. You can then concentrate on other things in life, like friends and family. If that doesn't do it for you, enroll in college. Hell, at least if you do that you can get the city to pay for it!

Well then I guess it's all legit. The Sgt said so! LOL!
I've been stopped by officers out of state a bunch. I take motorcycle trips and speed quite often. Sometimes I get the professional courtesy, sometimes I get the ticket. Mostly I have gotten the break and an admonition to slow down. If I get the ticket, oh well, I am a big boy, I know the rules.
That's how it works.
If any CPD officers don't realize that when you speed, at home or in a foreign jurisdiction, you or your family have the possibility of receiving a citation, well you should know that.
The eternal and all encompassing cloak of traffic violation invincibility for police officers and their family just doesn't exist. Don't get pissed because some officer somewhere else does their job.
Personally, I got fed up years ago of stopping the second cousin twice removed of a retired cop I never heard of and I was expected to bend over to let that person go after committing numerous traffic offenses.
The professional courtesy goes only to coppers and only occasionally family members in their own jurisdiction. Only if they are polite and if they are not drunk and if they have not injured anyone else.
Drive carefully is the best way.

Indiana state police wrote my daughter a ticket she said she was just passing another car i asked how fast daughter said 80 in a 70 but trooper wrote her for 90in a 70 zone. My daughter told her I was cpd why did she write my kid? MAYBE BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER DESERVED THE TICKET AND IT MAY OF PREVENTED MY DAUGHTER FROM GETTING KILLED/INJURED! Sorry no sympathy from me, think about why? We are all stopped some coppers also who are big jagoffs, the star out the window, the "you know who I am type", Maybe just maybe the coppers stopped were being jagoffs! Personally i have been stopped in Indiana and let go,but about 4 years ago i was stopped in Indiana going 30 OVER and the young copper wrote me a ticket, did he have to know but 30 over was excessive! Do I write coppers NEVER, am I mad at every other copper in a town where a member of their dept writes other coppers no!

Such a casual assumption in so much of the press.

ASA cars don't have 'Sheriff' plates. Those plates only go on CCSD cars! Jesus, working coppers on duty in a SQUAD CAR being cited for traffic while running prisoners back and forth? Is this what this job has come to, when we can't even respect one another, or provide each other with a MINIMUM of professional courtesy? The only comforting thing about this is in knowing that Chicago doesn't have a monopoly on hiring idiots.
Watch for a young hispanic PO on the Evergreen Park PD when driving through that suburb. This kid plays 95th & 99th st. and swoops down on everyone. He's well hidden until he emerges from his hidey holes. Remind your loved ones to drive the speed limit when you go through there, even when the speed limit drops down to 25mph on some streets.
Maybe. I work in 007 and I am not worried.

I've read the "outrage" over cops writing cops with some outrage of my own. Why, oh why, should a police officer get a break for speeding, etc., when a civilian would not? Could it be his/her superior driving skills? Nope, don't think so unless he/she is a graduate of something like the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.
I was driving up the Interstate in Florida several years ago when I damn' near got run over by a Ford Windstar van with New Jersey plates driven by a slob on a cell phone with his wife's fat ass in the windshield while she was turned around whaling on one of the kids in the back. I managed to get out of his way before he actually hit my back bumper and watched with amazement as he weaved in and out of traffic at a stupid rate of speed, endangering not only his . Being a good citizen, I called the phone number for the Highway Patrol to report a possible drunk driver. A State Trooper passed me with lights and siren a very short time later, closed on the maniac in the Windstar, then shut off his lights and siren, dropped back and exited. When I expressed my disgust, my wife asked, "What did you expect? He had an FOP badge on his plate and a police department sticker in his back window."
Guys, the law is for everyone, remember? Isn't "clout" something you complain about? Same thing.

Be careful in Kentucky also. Couple of years ago on a family vacation, my wife got a ticket from a Kentucky State Trooper. We were both polite and respectful. I said that I was CPD and showed him my star and Id, but it made no difference.

There are 2 districts in the city without a homicide. 014 is one of those districts. Stop bitching. 014 is now a retirement district. But, you would not know that, because you have never done a lick of police work.
Ray Ray is a Blue Falcon Stay clear do nothing for this guy. Mr USMC never deployed never earned a commission. A big FAKER. He will be done in 7 months with no MASTERS MASTERS MASTERS
Nobody even wants to be a part of this Circus anymore, they're just stuck. R.i.P. CPD, a once great police Agency in a onec great City, in a once great Country.
Just re-arranging the chairs on the upper deck on the Titanic.
OT but a little birdy told me the 4 year wonder boy Director of Predictive Analytics is now officially in an unfunded position. Seems he wrote a grant proposal for the unit and well, um, New York was awarded the grant. Ooooops, so now what?

How about back in patrol? Isn't he a blue shirt? The "directorship" was fun while it lasted. Save this dept some $.

What does that mean? Tell your loved ones to drive the speed limit? You mean your loved ones speed every where and need to be reminded? How many ODPO drive through Evergreen Park at a high rate of speed? Why? How many serious violations must Evergreen Park or other suburbs ignore from ODPO? Where is the common sense? We are our own worse enemies.
