Nice One Hubie

  • Aspiring "principals for a day" were asked this year to give Chicago Public Schools something more than their time.

The registration form for the Thursday event asked participants to pledge at least $1,000 in cash or services to their assigned schools, a move that has prompted 40 to 50 calls to CPS headquarters.

But while the form explicitly says "REQUIRED," district officials said they were just strongly suggesting that participants cough up some support as part of the newly launched "Say Yes to CPS!" campaign.

Schools chief Ron Huberman said the school district is not trying to force any of the volunteers to pay for their participation.
Huberman was on the wrong end of a recent federal court decision regarding hundreds of teacher layoffs conducted improperly. Then there's that fixed OEC radio deal with Motorola keeps popping up whenever crooked contracting is mentioned - Huberman's signature is all over that paperwork. It's a wonder he hasn't been indicted federally yet.

Did the mayor come up with his "charitable contribution" to be principal of the west side high school he always goes to?

Let's see, take a day of my time and volunteer at a school and pay them to do it?

Sorry booberman, something just came up at the office and I can't make it, maybe next year when your gone.

Hey Ron maybe cut the HQ and school office staffs. Leave the teachers be.

I think a better question would be where does the money go when it is given? Channel 9 mentioned this in a story this morning and states that over a million dollars were raises in this manner.

Maybe all those outfit guys can kick back $1000 from their rigged contracts and be principle for a day.

Maybe we can give Maggie's girlfriend the contract for all the books bought by the schools in turn for her $1000 donation. That is if we aren't already buying all our books through her airport book stores.

Why, yes. Yes, it is.

One could even call it 'pay to play'.

Say what you want about that Motorola deal, but Jimmy A was one of the hardest working city employees on the payroll. Yes, he should have known when something smelled funky, but IT WAS HUBERMAN who masterminded that deal. He's the one who had to show that he could make things happen. Fire wanted a new radio system (and we can debate their perceived need all day long), he was going to get it for them, so the mayor wouldn't take heat about bad words on the radio. Come on, Huberman's the guy who should be looking for work.

A relative of mine paid close to $1,000 at a school fundraiser to be principal for a day. She goes online to fill out the form and it won't register her unless she says she'll give at least another grand. Since she already did, she called the number and said so. They told her, too bad, cough up another grand.

She filled the form out saying she would, but told the principal it ain't gonna happen. The principal was very embarassed.

Funniest thing about this is the application form demanding the $1000 minimum is still available at

http://www.pfad.cps.k12.il.us/OnlineApplication.aspx

Surprised this wasn't removed immediately when they got caught with their pants down.
