Here's a complete write-up -- there were about 20 cars in this chase. Not only was everyone around endangered by him tearing off up the sidewalk, and by the necessary police gunfire to try to stop him, but there were apparently two other people in the car with him as well.
I wonder if his face got all scratched up by the woman coming over the back seat at him, shrieking "STOP, MIGUEL! THEY KEEL US ALL!"

Anyone present can file a formal complaint with the Chief Judge. However, the FOP can send out press releases and put pressure to get the judge dumped.
You need some documentation, all officers present signing an affidavit for example. And court notifications proving all were in court. Some civilians swearing it occurred would help too.

Weis is an ego maniac. He attends a police awards ceremony and can't let the officers get their time in the limelight. Instead of waiting for another time he has to do a "Look what I did". That is a sure sign of a poor leader. When Chicago Police Detective Joseph Airhart was laying on the floor in an apartment with the bad guy still inside and Weis' FBI crew backed out and left him there, I'm sure Weis wanted to call a press conference because that is all he is good for.

You'd probably want to:
1. Call the court reporters office and order a copy of the transcript.
2. You, the person who feels insulted, would file a complaint with the Judicial Inquiry Board.
3. The FOP would probably not get involved - it's not a contract issue, or a potential lawsuit.
or, you could visit the judge in his chambers and ask him why he called you an idiot. I'd guess you get more mileage the second way, but that's just my opinion.
And, anonymous or not, I would always stay away from calling a judge by a derogatory name - like it or not they are the ones with the power of contempt - as well as all the power in court.

The agency justified not going through a formal bidding process in May 2005 when Ron Huberman was executive director. Huberman, a longtime lieutenant to Mayor Richard Daley who is now chief of the Chicago Public Schools, said today in a telephone interview that he only led the department for 13 months.
In a follow-up written statement, Huberman said he “was disappointed” that employees of his at the time did not follow proper procedure. “I regret that some of this misconduct occurred during my tenure,” he said. “As a City commissioner who has always made it a priority to ensure that all policies and procedures are followed, I should have reviewed the document in question more carefully."

On FOX news they said the guy spit in the sgts face ,which is a crime because it could cause bodily harm. So he also said it would justify his actions,but all he had to do was add it to the report.So if it was justified ,why would anyone have to report the sgt.Im going by the news now,who said he was justified to strike the guy. An open hand stunning blow to the face is a perfectly Justified Use of Force according to the department Use of Force Model against an active resistor (handcuffed or not as taught by the academy). Judge Luckman is a very fair judge. I find it surprising that he would have said that, unless the officers in question were being idiots. I have witnessed in my years officers who think they can sit and chat and not pay heed to the rules of court. Luckman has always made himself available to the police, and yes he still signs warrants.

What happened to due process and probable cause? Jfled convicts before the investigation is completed? What about the family ties between the alledged victim and IPRA investigator? Will Jfled ask for an independent investigation? Where was the good deed?? Ask Cozzi.

Luckman called a young PO an idiot cuz the PO had a weed case that derived from a traffic stop. So all of the traffic tickets along with the misd charge were sent to Br 29. He asked why the PO sent the traffic tickets to his courtroom and called him an idiot. "Officer you are an idiot." His clerk then leaned over and told him that was the proper thing to do in this case. So Area 3 Office go fuck yourself. This PO did the right thing and was insulted by a judge who doesn't even know the clerical procedures for his courtroom. Fuck you Luckman and. Props to the young PO who acted professionally!
For all the Luckman controversy, whether you like him or not, he will be retiring in February. (I happen to like him).
As a private citizen that reads SCC blog, I think it's time to get a gun permit and a few guns.
Police don't want to do their jobs because of mistreatment by Jody Weis and corruption in the department. I get that.

100 percent correct.
In my 20+ years I've seen lots of people locked up and charged with Battery for spitting on someone. I've seen dozens more case reports written up for battery when the offender was not on scene, some by teachers who were spit on by students. What if that offender had Aids, Hepetitis or Tuberculosis? These diseases could be transferred by saliva if it were to hit the Sgt in the eye, or land in his nostrils or his mouth. A head strike is a proper response (as shown in the 'Use of Force' Model) to stop the offender from repeatedly battering you by spitting on you again. J-fled has no clue, as usual. This is why I and many others will only do the minimum required every day when we work. You gotta be nuts if you're out there being pro-active while this clueless idiot is at the helm. If you've ever seen the movie 'The Caine Mutiny', J-Fled is just as nuts as Captain Queeg.

I was also in court this morning and the group of officers he was referring to should be ashamed of their behavior.
How many time do these children need to be told to quiet down? The entire call they were speaking loudly, joking around and laughing. We are supposed to be professionals yet these officers were acting far worse than the civilians waiting for their cases to be called.
I don't condone Luckman's choice of words but these officers are lucky they were not held for contempt!

Awards ceremony????? Have you been to one lately. Out less than 20% of those receiving an award even show up now. I remember when you couldn't find a seat and every copper who got an award was there. Many of times I have gotten felony approval on an offender for spitting in a po's face. U have to be persistant and it helps to get medical care. Also, if an offender is an assailant, handcuffed or not, you can use and follow our use of force schedule. I have maced and struck an assailant who was handcuffed. It was all documented and there was never a problem. Granted, I was never on tape but you can do it within our guidelines if he is an assailant. I hope it works out for those involved.
