Merry Christmas

To all our democrat acquaintances:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes.

To our Republican friends:

Merry Christmas and warmest wishes this holiday season.

note: updates will be slow today due to holiday commitments.

O/T-

Fire Commissioner Hoff went into the rubble to help dig out two of his lost firefighters after a roof collapsed on them. He emerged wet, dirty, and full of soot.

Question- what would Weis have done if it was one of us?

12/23/2010 08:16:00 AM

Gotta run...

12/23/2010 08:40:00 PM

Hoff as always a firefighter and bleeds fireman. J-Fled was never a police officer and just bought a uniform and said he was. CPD "Given not Earned," Sadly is the new motto.

*****************************

also, hoff's father who was a fire chief in chicago died on the job doing the same exact thing. I think His father died on the job in the early 60s when a roof collapsed on him killing him. Hoff also has been there and done that from what ive heard. The reason that fire got a good boss is because old man daley, and which was passed down to the current daley loved the fire department and had many friends in the fire dept community. daleys old man just tolerated the police which led his kid to just despise the police... hoff's father was also personal friends of old man daley and hoff and daley were childhood friends up through college. Sure, hoff may be connected to daley but at least this guy took his lumps and actually did the job..unlike j fled that coward... oh yeah, merry christmas I better go grab my .45 because I hear someone comin down my chimney!!!!!

Dear Friends,

An Executive Order that I issued last year encourages the celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah and prohibits any censorship of these religious holidays.

As you may know, in the past, state and local officials in Arizona (and elsewhere) have attempted to strip both Christmas and Hanukkah of their meaning, including establishment of policies forbidding state employees from placing religious items of celebration at their desks, re-naming of Christmas trees as “holiday” trees, and renaming of Menorahs as “candlesticks.”

Under my administration, I will call things what they are...a Christmas Tree and a Menorah... and will gladly allow both Christmas and Hanukkah to be celebrated at the State Capitol. I encourage my colleagues and fellow elected officials to do the same.

Merry Christmas! May God bless you, your home, and all of Arizona.

Sincerely,

Jan Brewer
Governor

Count the errors. (I count 7)

Maybe his GD buddy "urban translator" Gator Bradley can help us understand it

As we along with our families prepare for the holiday season, the temptation is for us to slip into a more festive and relaxed mindset. Ove the past two weeks the number of shootings and homicides in locations that are historically problematic should serve as a stark that we cannot afford to relax or be consumed by the holiday festivities. Now is the time to be more vigilant. Please ensure we focused on the bad guys and that we targeting them with laser precision.. Let's get the bad guys and lock them down!!!!

To the posters regarding Bobby Hoff, a little trivia for you....... The movie "BACKDRAFT" was loosely based on his father, he and his brother. Bobby Hoff was the little boy in the beginning watching his father die in the fire when the helmet rolled infront of him and then played throughout the movie by Kurt Russell.

Bobby Hoff is an outstanding HUMAN BEING, days before he was sworn in as the head of CFD he took the time to send a CFD plaque to the small fire department I am a volunteer with, sending condolences for the passing of the founding member of this one horse town volunteer Department. What an honor they felt, and the tears coming down their face when Bobby Hoff's letter and beautiful plaque arrived. The plaque now proudly hangs in the hall of the firehouse as the FIRST Plaque you see!!

God Bless you Bobby Hoff and Jim McMahon!!!! Two incredible human beings and firefighters!!!

Merry Christmas to All.

Off Topic but Important,

This could have been a repeat of an incident some time ago in the 10th District. An MSF cop on his way home from Homan Square after 0300 finds himself followed in his car by some gang bangers out to do some damage.

Only this time the Dispatchers and everyone else were on the ball.

Offenders in custody. In previous incidents shots were exchanged and officer went to station to get help.

These assholes know the districts are low in manpower and the "special units" are all gone at 3AM. So that is when they go hunting, sometimes they get other gangbangers, sometimes they get a couple of Irish students walking home and sometimes they confront a ODPO.

Stay safe, be aware when you go to and from work, carry your gun and a lot of ammo. Have a good cell phone with 9-1-1 on voice dial and the local district desks. Make sure your car is in good shape and always wear your seat belt and think about wearing body armor to and from work.

Have to say I met Robert Hoff once at the carwash. No driver, he was driving himself. Very down to earth and a very friendly man. Didn't even realize who he was until he was leaving. Thought at first he was a lower level boss in the Fire Department. Too bad he didn't become a cop. That is the type of boss I would work for any day of the week. Seeing how he was at the scene of the fatal fire a few days ago shows you how someone truly leads by example and cares about his people. Maybe with some luck and God's grace J-Fled will be replaced by someone of Hoff's character. A true leader and gentleman. It would be a true boost of morale to have a boss who remembered where he came from and truly respected those under him.

A Merry Christmas to you and yours SCC. Enjoyed and got a laugh out of your post. Maybe because it is so true.
On this day, keep the Haymaker, Soderburg, Worthem, Bailey and Flisk families in your prayers along with the rest of our fallen. Keep in mind all of our Service Men and Women who are away from home and fight to keep us free. Remember our brothers and sisters in the CFD who prepare to bury two of their own, and keep Bill Cozzi in your prayers. People who know him tell me he is having a tough time. Even though I am a lapsed Catholic, it galls me that the Department of Prisons cater to the Muslims and Baptists, but won't let him have a Catholic Mass for Christmas. Shows you just who is being discriminated against. Once again SCC, enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for all you do.

Regarding the incident in 010 with the odpo being followed home by shit-heads. Officers, if someone who knows you are the police, then continues to use their vehicle as a weapon against you, (cutting you off, trying to run you off the road), then 2 people approach your stopped vehicle with a baseball bat, you have every right to use lethal force. This situation could have ended very badly for the odpo. as always great job by 010th dist with the quick response and appropriate response when affecting the arrest. I'm sure they were down quite a few cars as we all were.

Copied from Wikipedia The goal was to "give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday" He was just annoyed about Christmas, as most liberals are.

About Bill Cozzi, for some reason down there in Louisiana, the folks that inhabit that prison aren't crazy about Italians, Catholics, Yankees or cops. This poor guy is up against it from the damn guards and the inmates. I hope his sentence is completed soon. Bill is not safe down there.

THE SCOOP HERE: Yeah I'm the Scoop. What of it? If it's insider info you want, here it is. Every Sgt's test ever given has been rigged except one. That's because the accounting firm sent the results w/a messenger that was extremely tall and he put the results up on top of some bookcases on the 5th floor after everyone left for the day. While Shortshanks went scrambling for a highchair or some cityworkers to climb on the backs of to reach the pile of soon-to-be-rigged results, wouldn't you know? The ONE freakin' employee on the 5th flr that does any work at all, hired in error due to being a Daly, not a Daley, grabbed the pile and mailed them out. That was years ago. Shanks fired the acctg firm, fired the lax employee and fired the postal workers for picking up the mail on time. He fires fed. employees all the time.

Some great photos there, but about image 24...

"pathetic?"

A group of Red Cross Volunteers, I assume unpaid volunteers, who may have been out there for who knows how long, who may have been working the scene bringing coffee or other comfort items to the cops and fire fighters watch as the procession carrying the fallen Fire Fighters pass.

"pathetic"? That only two of the group thought to give the hand over the heart salute as the column passed. They were out there, probably unpaid, in the cold doing something good. So give them some slack. Few people these days have any military experience, even Scouting, and they have even cut the Pledge of Allegiance from schools.

If you ever see a group of people, and a procession like that is going by, take the lead, call out, "Ladies and gentlemen! A moment of silence please." If in uniform salute, if in civies hand over the heart.

Stay safe, God Bless the Fallen Fire Fighters, a speedy recovery to the injured, and thanks to all who helped out there.

SCC, can you please post the below information so officers will be aware of this service and to just give citizens a small glimpse of how many extra things we do each day for those that we serve in this great city. Due to the fact that the Mayor/Superintendent destroyed CPD's District level support for victims of Domestic Violence by removing the DVLO from all 25 Districts, our department has very little immediate direct contact with victims during those moments when they may reach out for help. (The first 24 hours) Those that are trained to address this need are often overwhelmed with their case load. We are hoping that we, the Preliminary Investigator, may be able to make a small difference this holiday season.

"The Chicago Police Department responds to over 500 calls related to domestic violence each day. With the stress of the holidays, families living with domestic violence may see an increase in violent episodes. As first responders we often are the only ones to see the destruction that domestic violence brings into what is supposed to be the safety of our citizens otherwise safe homes. When you respond to a home where domestic violence has overshadowed the holidays, you may have the opportunity to restore the peace and brighten a child's day by offering a toy.

The Chicago Police Department, spearheaded by the Domestic Violence Unit, the Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and Bin Donated, is hosting a toy drive to meet the need of some of Chicago's children negatively impacted by domestic violence this holiday season.

When responding to calls for domestic violence, if you encounter a victim whose abuser destroyed or refused to purchase toys for the children, please contact Aileen Robinson of the Domestic Violence Unit at 312-745-6340 with the case report number, the gender and ages of the children and any other information you believe would be pertinent. The Domestic Violence Unit staff will match toys with the children that you have identified. The toys will be available within 48 hours of notification for you to pick up from Headquarters and deliver back to the affected families. We will fill requests until the toys run out.

Over the years we have heard the stories that many officers encounter while working during the holiday season. We want to thank you once again for caring and taking the time to bring joy to a family in need.

We appreciate your support of this great program and remember, sometimes Santa wears blue!"
