Not Guilty Coverage
A whopping one article that we've seen. In the Daily Herald. By Chuck Goudie:
The most dangerous place for a Chicago police officer is:
a. Face-to-face with a heavily armed drug gang.
b. Trapped by gangbangers at the end of a dark alley in Englewood.
c. Cornered by some lifers carrying shivs at Stateville prison.
d. Sitting in a Cook County courtroom.
The correct answer is d.
Or at least it was last Friday.
Goudie outlines the case against the shooter, the blatant disregard for human life exhibited by the shooters, the amazing restraint by the officers. It's a good read and our amazement only grows when we see a paragraph like this:
- There were more gang members in the court gallery than there were police officers. Some cops have complained about that. But the way I see it, gang members have nothing better to do. Their only inconvenience was having to get out of bed before noon. Police officers have jobs and were out there pulling shifts, dealing with the transfers and realignment that have been undertaken by new police Supt. Garry McCarthy.
A subtle poke at G-Mac? And then this closing left us wondering if Goudie had been the subject of a bodysnatcher-type abduction:
If Mr. Green, now 23, resumes the same line of work that he was in before his arrest, he may well have police visitors in his home sometime in the future.
Then, if Green starts shooting at police, the 12 people he'll need won't be jurors.
They'll be pallbearers.
Like we said though, one op-ed in the Daily Herald. Not exactly anything that's going to get anyone to sit up and notice much. This needs to be bigger.

Talked to one of the guys on that team that was not shot and he said they all are pissed and the family of the two who got shot are pissed. We ALL should be. These guys are workers and they are also pissed that G-Fledmac comes out with his BS about the MLD's when they shot a 4 year old but has said nothing about going after the GD's who had a member shot TWO cops. Guess Father Faker and his ilk are GD's and G-Fledmac does not want to upset his buddy

Not a bad article. It's a shame how the CPD seems to be too scared to mention this. How this thug is free is a travesty. The dept. Should let us know this is not acceptable and investigate what happened in that courtroom. The judge should have to answer a few questions as well. I am outraged as a policeman who has worked in this city for 22 years.

Hopefully someone will follow up with the jurors to see what happened during deliberations. This wasn't a hung jury so I'm guessing they found reasonable doubt somewhere.

i was on the edge with the idea of leaving this city and state and being an police officer somewhere else. this was all i needed to move. i suggest everyone else do the same. its just not worth it anymore. call me a quitter all you want but i call it intelligence and common sense on watching out for my well being as well as my family and friends. in due time, good bye chicago. now at least ill feel sorry for all of you elsewhere and not be joined in the misery.

Off Topic , but had to answer a poster from yesterday about Ozzie Guillen wearing our hat. I have the pleasure of working for the Sox as my side job.. Ozzie is possibly the nicest, kindest and funnest person I have ever met. He spends most of the pregame talking(his passion) and laughing with the cops, ground crew and hard working concessions people. Ozzie LOVES the C.P.D. and rolls in laughter from our war stories and is infuriated by the bad ones. He is truly a class act and if you have access to tickets to a game and are near the dugout you will see him keeping the game as it should be... FUN. Go Sox!

where were the hundreds of police officers already in court on other cases . they could have stopped by for a few minutes or stayed after their case was continued.
Simple question.
Where was the leadership for these officers at? Where was their Sergeant? Their Lieutenant? Their Commander? Their Chief? Did any of them send out a fax, text, E-mail, AMFN, or notify the FOP or the Court Section?
Somebody had to have known about this case in their Unit and somebody should have been ordering people to attend each day at court. Hell people should have wanted to show up on their own if they had know. Even the officers there are not that selfish and stupid to know to show up. All of those people in that building are not buy or deep undercover officers and even if they were they still could have shown up. They have to go to court at some point on their undercover missions so that lame excuse does not fly.
It seems that their own people cared little about them and now after the horse is stolen they want to lock the barn door. This now effects us all because they have piss poor leadership. You have told the GD's that the GD's can shoot members of the CPD and get away with it and if you do not think that effects us all on this job you might as well retire because there are more GD's out there than there are CPD.
It took Chuck Goudie to bring this to light, Chuck Goudie! Until now he has never been known as a friend of the police but he just did more for these officers and the rest of us than any of the leadership we have going. I work in that same building and the day after the court case was the first day I heard about it, where is the leadership? And when is the zero tolerance going to come from McCarthy to let us obliviate the GD's? Guess if it is not news worthy he does not care because he is typical politician, this guy is NO policeman.
Expect NOTHING from the FOP. Same B.S., new face.
Shame on the FOP for not bringing this issue up PRIOR to the start of the trial.
The FOP was called out for the shooting and never followed up with the court dates.

Could he really be a good guy that likes the cops???? Stay tuned...

That's because Gmac is not a cop anymore, just a politician that only chimes in for political purposes. The MLD shooting was a large media event so he stepped to the plate just like a politician. A Forensic Audit of the Depts Books to see where funds for hiring and the Federal Funds for respirators went. 5. A march on City Hall or Large Informational Picket to bring this to light from local and national media. They're all in on starving public safety of manpower and resources... Hence they starve the people of anything remotely resembling public safety and the people don't even have the good sense to recognize this.

On everyblock.com today there was a heated back and forth after a citizen asked if anyone knew what had happened after he called 911 about two black males -- one with a baseball bat -- chasing and hitting another male at Division and Maplewood. Some liberal got all over the original poster's ass about saying the criminals were black. A self-identified black woman (who has a photo associated with her name to confirm said fact) then took the liveral to the woodshed as to why cops need to know race.
I'm definitely using the Pictionary line the next time a witness won't give it to me straight. Here is part of her post. Enjoy.

Probably had no idea that it was going on. It would take a miracle to have a message about the trial passed along to everybody. Would the court Sergeant know about the case? And, if so, could he/she not inform those signing in about it?
I am of the opinion that the one presently working there would have done so, had he been aware of the case.
