The historic, now boarded-up building that once housed the Chicago Defender newspaper is in foreclosure, and, as a result of that, five of the city’s struggling pension funds could end up losing $1 million.
A failed plan to rehabilitate the Art Deco/Moderne building was one of the deals put together by former Mayor Richard M. Daley’s nephew, Robert G. Vanecko, and his politically connected partner, Allison S. Davis, in a start-up real estate investment company that five city pension funds hired in 2006 to manage $68 million in retirement money for teachers, police officers, CTA employees and other city workers.
Jail would be too good for these leeches. If we could demolish the Defender building with these jagoffs inside it, well now you've got our attention.

This guy needs to be put in prision! I complete forensic federal audit of all his income and business deals must be done. He had access through clout that no one else had to land these deals and get the money. People need to be educated on what really happened to the pension fund. The everyday working copper has no control over the pension money. We put into it every week and that's the last we see of it. Daley appoints the majoriety of pension board members so Daley gets what he wants from them.(just like city council.) The truth needs to be told and the public needs to know. What they did to the fund is wrong and should be illegal.

Yeah, Moscow has a "fast district" too, just like Rush Street. They'd be right at home. Not like Patrick was over there studying Russian Orthodox icons or something.
I'm sure he "made his time pay," so to speak -- all sorts of valuable new international connections for the Daley family.
It says a lot about the University of Chicago that out-and-out criminals are inducted as "Distingushed Senior Fellows."
I'm going by memory which can fail me but I seem to remember reading Vanecko & Davis got $12 or $15 mil in commissions on the 60 some million.
Generally, financial managers are paid 1% of the amount they manage. That would put the commissions at about $600K.
My reccolection on the cut to Vanecko and Davis is vauge but I seem to remember it was a real nice cut of pension money those two freshly minted real estate experts walked off with.
The whole thing is clearly criminal.

For the record, Daley was in business negotiations with Intercounty Titile as Intercounty was being bombarded by accusations of kickbacks by none other than Robert 'Bob' Creamer and his "Activists" in the mid 90's. Stephen A. Daley was a consultant for Intercounty's biggest competitor, Greater Illinois Title of Chicago and was on Creamer's Board for his Activists. When Daley didn't get the kickbacks he wanted from Capriotti, he had him locked up. People forget Rahm was Vice Chair of CHA while serving as Managing Director of Freddie Mac. These guys pitched the "Plan for Transformation" as the answer to the neighborhoods they helped destroy. The reality is the plan was about the displacement of many people for profits. In 1995, there was $6 million in residential real estate sales annually within a Two block radius of Cabrini Green. From 2000 to 2005, $1 Billion. Rahm knew they could tear down these buildings and he even had a ball in motion to prevent/slow down the people from coming back. Henry Kaufman oversaw the development of the "Mortgage Backed Security" for Solomon Brothers in 1983 and just so happened to be serving on the Board with Rahm for Freddie Mac. Tear down the housing, move the residents away and give them mortgages somewhere else, generate $994 Million in real estate investments (Most of which were probably grossly overpaid contracts in order to fill larger bonuses) and rake in the money from Taxes, Title, Commissions, etc.
Take into consideration the "Developers" were given huge bonuses as long as their plans included 30% of the property to be used for low-income families. Thats a lot of money.
Consider the recent testimony from Sharon Spalding in the Laquan McDonald case. She testified about the "Code of Silence" but she also testified Terry Hillard's police department ran alliances with Gangster Disciples in Stateway Gardens after DV Urban won the bid to redevelop it. Consider for just a moment if you will, Terry Hillard created a private security firm who offices in the same building as Norfolk Southern's lobbyist in Washington D.C. Consider Mr. Hillard's involvement is making security measure recommendations to Norfolk Southern in their Freightyard in Englewood. Consider the only company in the entire country responsible for neglecting to secure weapons in their freight yard is also the only corporation buying over 85 acres of distressed property from the City after the weapons they lost contributed to the depression of the property they buy. How do gangsters find a railcar full of weapons in a 105 acre freight yard without a tip from security? Look up CREATE. It is the name they are calling the railcar expansion. It is the only place in the country where six railroads come together an we are told it is the most violent neighborhood not by design?
