Shades of Rahm

This opening paragraph is priceless:
  • A top administrator at the City Colleges of Chicago recently resigned under pressure, leaving a $120,000-a-year job but taking away a valuable life lesson: Don’t play games with the city’s residency requirement.
Really? If he had just left a box in the crawlspace of a house that isn't even on the tax rolls, he'd be f#$%ing golden, right Mayor Emanuel? Honest to pete, does anyone at the Sun Times actually read the previous articles written by their "reporters?"

Because I looked and it never says whats a resident. Talked to a couple of bosses and that can't tell me.

You think you guys have problems at CPD, CCC Chancellor Ms Hyman (AKA the meter reader) is west side native who still remembers her roots. She had juice when she was at ComEd and giving some obscure job in Business Strategy. Rumor was Meeks was her juice and the goofy ComEd CEO supported her.

During Ms Hyman's tenure she has "kept it real" at CCC in many meetings by raising her hand as she "mother fucked" the upper administrators. Really. She is making about $230,000 and zero education management experience and from looking at ComEd's org chart, she had two or three people reporting to her. Not surprisingly, Daley picks her.

She is a loose cannon that was put in place to blow CCC up, hire Rhams friends and contributors and then Rahm will pick someone else to lead.

If you go look at all the Board Reports which are required to be listed www.ccc.edu/brpublic from June 2010 on, you will see all the money she spent hiring the expelled CPS flunkies and the Rham connected Civic Federation brain trusts.

All but one of the college presidents have been replaced with outsiders or with folks that are connected in some way to Rham's or Oh-My-Bama. The hires will allow Rham to repay political favors and ingratiate himself with future heavy weight political donors.

To give you a taste of Ms Hyman's grasp of the English language, back in August 2010, Ms Hyman was addressing CCC's staff and faculty for the first time. She was speaking about the importance of students obtaining a bachelors degree. Unfortunately, Ms Hyman announced the importance of students obtaining a bachelorette degree. Fucking priceless!

Penny wise and dollar foolish isn't that how the saying goes?

Fires a $120K/year admin and then throws the money away on alderman and ex-mayor security details and drivers -- drivers making runs to out of state golf courses.

I'm not impressed.

More money probably left the city and the state on one little golf outing than is being saved here with this show of force.

You should of videotaped the firing and sent it to Al Jazzera, that's how they do it now days ya know.

This is chump change compared to the scams being pulled off by Illinois corporations running there little downstate offices with nothing more than a fax machine and copier, $14 million dollars and still counting, channeling all their sales thru those offices to avoid the city of Chicago and Cook County sales taxes.

I imagine the corporations will get away with nothing more than a hand slap at most -- as long as their campaign donations are in the right place.

http://capitolfax.com/2011/08/24/airlines-sears-taking-advantage-of-downstate-tax-havens/

Or how about our own Illinois state congressmen awarding Scholarships to people outside their districts violating the laws?

They just going to get a hand slap too and then back to business as usual?

Talk about residency violations how about bringing that money back into the neighborhoods where it rightly belongs!

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-08-26/news/ct-edit-tuition-20110826_1_tuition-waivers-scholarships-bruno-siblings

Sweat the little stuff and broken windows. HA! It's corruption from the highest offices.

Take JP Morgan.

When you're a corporation no-one ever gets indicted and sent to jail for violating the law. Why? Campaign donations I guess how else would you explain it..

US Treasury Reaches $88.3 Million JPMorgan Sanctions Settlement

The U.S. Treasury Department announced an $88.3 million settlement with JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) for apparent violations of international sanctions programs, including Cuban assets control and anti-terrorism regulations.

The Treasury said that JPMorgan through its correspondent banks maintained prohibited financial transactions with sanctioned entities in countries including Cuba and Iran.

The JPMorgan payment agreed upon by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, known as OFAC, involves “egregious” violations for five years, according to a Treasury Department statement.

Or, could you mean 'STATUTE'? You claim to be the police. Don't you know the difference?

Tell your bosses the guidelines for IAD are 'where does he spend the bulk of his time'. That means, more than half. It means, where do you hang your hat, file your taxes from, pay your electric bill, have a lease, pull your car into the garage, do your laundry, sleep, receive your mail, register your car, greet your neighbors over the fence...

Unless things have changed in the past few years, the definition of what is residency for a city employee was settled by the courts. The city can require the employee to live in the city, but they cannot require the employee's family to live in the city. That is, if you have enough cash to have two homes you can have your wife and kids live any where you want, and you can go to that location to sleep on your days off. And, believe it or not, there are more then a few who are doing this.

Ok, hater, because they fired all the civilians and there is NO ONE to do the work. If no one had any activity, then there would be less administrative work to do. SO, don't write tickets, ANOV's, contact cards, TSSSSS cards or make arrests; then you will have done your part to insure no one has to do anything 'administrative'

Now, if only they didn't need someone to handle CL#'s or find people for details or assign people to various in service classes, or file supervisor's logs, we wouldn't need anyone doing administrative work in the front office.

But, to get paid and know what car you are on tomorrow, someone still has to do A&A's and worksheets....

You are correct. It is commonly and informally known as the 4 of 7 rule.

And for everyone calling for FOP to act at contract time in regards to residency, simply stated, an ordinance or a law cannot be negotiated at the bargaining table.

Also, if you think discontent over residency began the day you came on the job, you are naive. Many attempts have been made over the years to eliminate, change, alter or diminish residency, but all have failed. The city has all the loopholes closed and the escape hatches all tightly secured. Without a change in the law, you are just spinning your wheels and getting red in face over something you are unable, incapable and presently unequipped to change.
