Mentals Go Off
A couple of comments popping up.
First regarding a mental in the 006 lobby needing 4 officers to take him into custody.
Second, an out-of-control psycho in the lobby of 011 needing multiple taserings and fighting the desk crew for many minutes before being subdued by multiple officers.
Anyone want to supply details?
And anyone else want to tell Downtown Brown that his policy and the policy of the City of Chicago regarding police stations as de facto shelters are going to end up costing us dearly?
It already cost 019 an officer.

Having been on the scene in 011, here is what happened.
The offender, who has a previous agg batt to the police conviction, entered the station, jumped up on the desk and began waving his arms and threatening the desk officers. He then jumped off the desk and attempted to get through the iron gate and attack the officers. He was immediately tased, but it had no effect. Another officer then tasered him, but it too had no effect. He was tased a total of 39 times and sprayed with OC, and nothing stopped him. He fought nine officers for damn near 12 minutes before they could get him into custody.
Being that nobody was hurt, he was only charged with nine counts of resisting and four counts of agg assault. The watch charged him with burglary, as he unlawfully entered with the intent to commit a felony (agg batt to police), but the ASA rejected charges.
So, to make a long story short, he was I-bonded out of the hospital around noon having never seen the lockup. You gotta love justice in Cook County!
Next time this guy will probably come in shooting. Maybe then the district desks will be secured.
Guy in 011 was high on pcp and allegedly pissed he had to spend the summer at 26th st. for fighting the police. so naturally his first action is to go into 011 and jump on the desk

The politicians who run the city and the police dept. could care less about our safety. All they want to do is put these homeless folks anywhere where they can't be seen. God forbid America will see how we treat homeless men, women, and children in this country. Plenty of folks who had homes last year are out in the street trying to stay alive. Whole families living in vans and abandoned houses. Such a wealthy country and this is how far we have come. How fucking sad!
If any of the Officers are hurt, SUE the fuck out of DTEB.

A nice asp across the face usually puts a stop to this.
You couldn't have just shot the guy? That would have stopped him in less than 12 minutes. Maybe if we were lucky he'd be removed from the earth entirely and save taxpayers some money.
What a sad state of affairs this city has become. Unbelievable. I'm sorry the Dept doesn't give you guys permission to not tolerate bullshit that endangers your lives.

Since the first poster said that no officers were hurt there can be no lawsuit.
So - FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH THE FOP.
I know it's only a safety complaint but if the Dept. keeps getting these and the FOP keeps filing these especially in cases of the homeless in station lobbies and in light of DTEB's order. Well after a few the FOP would be able to file a complaint with the State Labor board.
If nothing else it is a start to try to address this problem.
Tased 39 times? LMFAO I bet he got a wood shampoo from 1 guy really good and HARD, he would have been done in 2 minutes along with multiple broken bones. Go to the wooden baton THAT always has a affect on people.
They should make all the aldermens offices warming centers...lets see how they like piss on the floors, the smell of rotting flesh and the creepy crawly critters that would be infesting the offices!
What is even worse is the fact that we allow people come into the police station and do as they please. For example, a citizen comes into the station requesting a report and I told her to sign in and wait inside the lobby. Her reply; "I don't have to listen to you, just do your job". I told her to follow our rules or leave the police station. If you don't want to follow our rules then you will be arrested for trespassing. She didn't comply and so I took out my handcuffs and the desk Sgt. steps in and says "we can't do that, we can't arrest people for trespassing. This is a public building". This good citizen then laughed her ass off and continued to walk all around our station.
Another situation- the male lock up lets 7 gang bangers out and once they were standing in front of the desk, they were talking shit. "Hurry up and give me my property", "fucking bitch", "you all are full of shit". The desk Sgt. and the Captain allowed this behavior in our own house. If any officer takes out the handcuffs then the desk Sgt. says "it's not a crime to not follow our rules or to talk shit to us".
Jeez, where does the city get these ASA's from ? Amnesty International ? Station one on-site

Since when do yo have to be hurt to make it agg bat? I've been kicked, pushed, punched and never been hurt but always got agg bat charges approved.
They don't care about you, your safety, your health or your life. And when contract negotiations begin, they'll show you just how little they care.

Twenty years ago a homeless individual walked up to a citizen on Fullerton and shot him in the head for no apparent reason and then calmly walked over to the EL at Fullerton and California an attempted to board a train back to the 24th District station where he had been sleeping for the past year. The Officers in 24 new this individual and believed him not to be a violent person.
Happy all the police are okay. Now because dteb let the crazies in the station, how many officers were off the streets because of this crazy man. Supervisors doing paper. Police filling out iod's, Inventory of tasers. Dicks doing paper. And the best part how much overtime was needed. Just wandering..thousands of dollar's I hope.

We don't have a light duty po, but we have only 2 on the desk now. But it's 1st watch and in a nice area, that isn't going to work in the ghetto.
There are plenty of tools in the ASA office!!! My wife did her civic duty, went to jury duty at 26 and Cal, and was kept till 1630. She was asked if she knew any of the policman on the case, she said no but my husband is CPD. They told her to have a seat. At 1615 she was called back, your husband is the police, your dismissed. They could have did that hours ago, but the ASA's made her sit in that rat hole all day, why because they can!!!!

Yes this has been going on for years but and tolerated for whatever reason by the bosses in the station but now DTEB has put it in writing that we are to let these asshole bums in the station to sleep, piss and shit wherever and we are to welcome them with open arms. WTF

Hmmm, sounds like you have the same idiot desk sgt. we do on the west side. Our sgt. believes they can talk police officers anyway they want when they come in. This sgt. even encourages people to get cr numbers on police officers. And if someone is told to get out after motherfucking the police, this same sgt. will apologize to them and invite them to come back inside the police station. It's all true folks. Pretty disgusting.

When it gets out that we now have mattresses in the lockups these lice and mold infested street rats will do anything to get themselves arrested overnight.
A warm cell with a mat and a sandwich and the toilet right there instead of the drafty floor what do you think they will choose. It will be a hands- on hard-times hotel check-in every night.
They will get a complementary wakeup call and an I-Bond and be set free to ply their trades of being a public nuisances.
