Who Kidnapped Mope-rah?
Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
The images of the police officers and firefighters who rushed to the scene that day serve as a tangible reminder that the overwhelming majority of these men and women do their best to serve and protect.
Frankly, two recent incidents involving local police are shameful when you consider the sacrifices of 9/11.
But what responsibility did the Illinois State Police really have to ensure Paz went straight home that night?
After Paz got out of jail, she certainly could have called her sister or a friend and asked for a ride.
From what I can tell, the state trooper who took Paz into custody did his job. He got Paz from behind the wheel and off the highway where she was a danger to herself and others.
Unfortunately, it is easier to see the shortcomings of law enforcement than it is to accept that a loved one’s poor behavior led to his or her death.
I could understand the $1.3 million settlement if police were accused of shoving the illegal drugs down Coleman’s throat. But there’s no claim of such a thing.
So this settlement makes it look like the city is rewarding illegal activity, which can’t be good for police morale.
After 9/11, many of us gained a deeper appreciation for the people who put their lives on the line every day.
I’d say Sunday is a good day to show these first responders a lot more respect.

Believe it or not, Miss Mitchell has written more than a few columns supporting the CPD. Sometimes we deserve the heat we catch in the press, not always, but sometimes.
The first reference was for NYPD, the second was in defense of ISP, and the ghetto lottery comment-- in defense of the tax payers.... Nope she still considers us the white devil
Where am I?
The Twilight Zone........
God Bless the CPD.........
What happened is like always low life lawyers rushed out to the Paz home and told them there was money to be made off of this terrible incident. Who knows why this young lady didn't contact her family. The State trooper was nice enough to give her a ride to the gas station. What she did from there is not the fault of anyone but herself. In the end connected lawyers will get some money for the family minus of course their 40% cut off the top. The State will pay to help out the connected lawyers and keep the family quiet.
"Is this like some "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" type event? Or maybe a "Stepford Wives" thing? Because our jaw hit the floor after reading this:"
For a further expliantion, see above thread titled: "MENTALS GO OFF".
Gotta be the full moon.
I read this article out loud and in disbelief to my partner while at lunch!!! I could not believe what I was reading maybe it was just an article to show respect to the very people she despises to make it look like she cares!! She accused Paz's family on blaming police for her DRUNK DRIVING & blames her family for their wrong doing but HELLO u idiot!! That's what you do every day in your article.......Jerome didn't finish school cause momma & daddy didn't .....Jerome carried a gun cause daddy did.......Jerome sold drugs cause uncle's did.......& Jerome got killed cause SOCIETY refused to help him!!!!!!!!! Same excuse moprah just different words

When Mary Mitchell attacks the Chicago Police Department, I rarely hear or see her differentiate between officers by race. On occasion she has focused on certain Caucasian officers, but she has done the same to some who are African American. We cannot deny that there are goofs on this job, of many races, who bring their personal brand of bigotry to work every day. But you're "White devil" comment is a reach. I don't understand why you would worry about whether or not she names our organization in particular as having done something positive. She HAS done it in the past, but perhaps not with the frequency you would like. I don't agree with a lot of her columns, many of which appear to be in favor of the mopes, race baiters, storefront reverands and police haters. But on occasion she gets it right. Her logic and perspective may be somewhat twisted, but I think she understands the role and importance of First Reponders and how she and her followers are protected by law enforcement.
Accept the compliment as a true professional and leave all the BS at the door. We have enough problems without adding race to the game.
Wish she had gone another step further to find out if this was a politically connected law firm (many of them are hurting right now) that collected on this $1.3 million payout that makes no sense to the ordinary person. This one and many like it.
Ms. Mitchell hails from Maywood,
go figure.
I read the article too and had to double check that I was actually reading her column. Credit where credit is due. I have seen instances in the past where she is supportive of the police, and of course those columns where she just doesn't get it. What she wrote yesterday was impressive.
Wild mood swings and shifts in opinion.
Liberalism is a mental disease.
It is Black Separatist Ideology, no matter what a White person or person in authority do, it is wrong. The most visible leader of this mindset is Rev Wright, the spiritual advisor for our President. Watching the solemn ceremonies on 9/11 I couldn't watch a man lay a wreath believing that we ALL act "stupidly". The fact that the Sun Times provides an open forum for this twisted hate speech is disgusting.
I actually ripped that article out of the paper to read again later--to make sure I wasn't hallucinating!
Miss Mitchell forgets that her own buddies, the ACLLU have sued the police amny times for keeping someone locked up when they are eligible for bond.
Back in the day, we could keep a person for "Safekeeping" but we were sued, so we have to release these people when they can walk on their own.
The ACLU actions have cost more than one life, but thats OK, since they are liberals. You will notive that not one reporter has dared to pick up on that angle.
Mope-rah your such a joke I hope yourself al"moron"sharpton, father pfleiger,Jesse jackass are the next victims of the mob attacks by some m/1's
A 'ghost-writer' I'm sure.

WRONG ! ! !
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG ! ! !
How can I stress this more strongly?
WE NEVER deserve the heat. Sometimes INDIVIDUALS deserve the heat but WE as a profession are vastly honorable, dedicated public servants who do their job day in and day out and do it professionally and respectfully. You are just as guilty as the media of painting us ALL with the same broad brushstroke as the idiots who DESERVE the heat.
Again, you are WRONG!
I could'nt believe it either....but now just wait for the "Boom"
Maybe she backed up the Police on this one, due to the fact the Officers being sued were minorties.
This only proves that her secretary wrote this article cuz maybe mope-rah was at the boat or something. She will fire her secretary first thing in the morning
Her boss told her to write something positive about first responders on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. It will be another 10 years before she wries another column like this one.
009 days (but not for long)

I thought the same thing.
It's unfortunate it takes tragedy to wake some people up
No comment from Mary Mitchell or any Black Alderman demanding Rahm apoligize to Ms . Lewis .
How can a man disrespect a black woman like that , pointing finger in her face while using F word .
This is the 21st century , I guess rahm takes the black vote for granted .
If Lewis can't take the heat she needs to get the fuck out of the kitchen. She's getting a lot of extra pay to take the heat. What if Shields starting crying because the mayor yelled and swore at him? She wants to be treated the same until she gets yelled at? She sets Women's Rights back fifty years. Fuck you Lewis. signed, a woman.
