Ladies, Get a Gun

  • A South Carolina sheriff who called for women to carry guns to defend themselves against assaults said on Tuesday he has received a positive response to his advice.

During a press conference Monday about a rape suspect's arrest, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said women should walk in groups and get a gun.

"I don't want you to go for the Mace. I want you to go for the concealed weapons permit," the sheriff said, according to a video of his remarks.

Wright said women could conceal a small pistol inside a fanny pack when they go out jogging.

"They got one called 'The Judge' that shoots a .45 or a .410 shell," he said. "You ain't gotta be accurate. You just gotta get close."

They ought to call it "The Judge and Executioner." It is one of the finest small guns in existence. And with the .410 self-defense loads? Ouch.

The only way to stop this violence is to put guns in the hands of decent honest folks trying to survive in this fucking jungle we call home. I saw the sheriff on tv and he made some very good points. I am sure the crying towels and spineless politicians would not agree with him but they won't be standing near the victims of crime when all hell breaks loose. Fuck whoever tells you that you cannot protect yourself. The US Constitution says you can! You want to see crime take a real nosedive in Chicago...LET PEOPLE CARRY A GUN AND DEFEND THEMSELVES!

The Wisconsin law just took effect. Fr. Pfleger & Co. (including Rahm) speaking out against "gun violence".

Once again Rahm saying the he personally calls the families of children who've succumbed to "gun violence". (Isn't there anyone who works for the city more qualified than him?)

The only person Channel 5 interviewed was Derrion Alberts mother. Interesting since Derrion was beaten to death.

In the meantime, in 49 out of 50 states those "violent guns" roam the streets.

Taurus makes these revolvers. 45 Long Colt or 410 gauge shotgun shell. You can either use shot or slug. 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch Magnum. Very effective at close range. Price is $500-$600 bucks.

I like the Sheriff's comments EXCEPT for the one about not having to aim the gun and saying you only have to be close. Any gun you shoot must be aimed to be effective. If you miss you're going to have a really crappy day.

Excellent idea. It's time for CCW in Illinois. Pfleger and Rahmmy are pansy assholes. Why is it that the assholes always seem to get their way?

Data has shown over and over again that States with CCW have had significant reductions in crime and especially violent crimes against women.
But the truth and facts never alters a liberals ideology.
Keep this in mind, Daley has ARMED police officers that you pay for, last estimate, $300,000 so far.
It's up to you to defend yourself, do it, no one else can or will.

S&W makes one of these portable revolving shotguns, its called: "The Governor." Thats also the nickname for my sister in law! The .410 self defense load consists of OO buckshot balls and discs. It borders on the in-humane. Then again, so is my sister in law !

Just watched a bunch of YouTube videos, and read material on "The Judge" by Taurus. Pretty badass revolver for close range protection.

Got one, keep self defense loads in it, got my CCW too, but I live in Nevada. Our DA wants to put signs on all the county lines, 'Welcome" FYI 99.9% of our adult population is Armed.

State police to open firing ranges to public

The Illinois State Police will open firing ranges to the public in five locations around the state.

State police ranges in Joliet, Pawnee, LaSalle, Macomb and Pittsfield will be open Nov. 12 as part of the state's "Open Range" program. State gun experts will be on hand to provide instruction and answer questions about firearms. The ranges will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The program is free, but participants are asked to make reservations.

All participants must have a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card and bring their unloaded firearm in a case.

Smith & Wesson make a revolver similar to "The Judge", called "The Governor". It is 6 shots vs 5 of the "Judge". It shoots .45LC, 410 guage shot shells, AND .45 ACP. It is way better quality than the Taurus "Judge". It also has a front tritium night sight.(Glows green at night).

...for something that'll go out of time -- chambers not lining up with barrel -- after a couple dozen rounds. Lots of flashy chrome but not much precision workmanship or good heat treatment, etc. down there in Porto Alegre. Don't take the sideplate off, or you'll never get the lousy thing working again.

If S&W makes something similar, I'd go with that.

That advice "you just gotta get close" is indeed stupid, despite the Chief's overall good intent. Shoot for center mass -- you gotta hit the target to do any good.

A shot cartridge -- of any size - is not a wide-angle death ray.

They often change my mind, though. Can you give some references that I can look at myself? I actually don't trust ANYONE, left or right, any more.

Refrain from name calling; I am a pro-concealed-carry, law-and-order libtard.

Being a liberal I also am in favor of CC and was a member of the NRA at the age of 8 yrs old, that was 54 yrs ago. So keep the liberal name calling BS to yourself. As far as the State Police opening ranges go those must be outdoor ranges as the only 2 indoor ranges are in Springfield and the one at 355 and Butterfield, according to a former Range Officer with District 15 SP. Maybe they added some new ones? BTW there is a new indoor range and gun shop in Lombard, Il. just north of North Avenue between 355 and Main street Lombard, it was formerly on Irving Park road just east of York road in Bensenville. 2 fulltime gunsmiths and a laser tactical range (room) plus more good stuff.

Try Dr. John R. Lott Jr's research published in his two books, " More Gun's, Less Crime ", " The Bias Against Guns "
Dr. Lott held research positions at U. of Chicago, Yale University, University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School.
" He supports his position by an exhaustive tabulation of various social & economic data from census & other population surveys of individual U.S. Counties "
Of course, being pro 2nd Amendment, his work is not w/o controversy.
" Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership" website also provides pertinent sources as does the NRA website.
