While I completely agree with you that we need to hire more police, your comment that things were better under J-Fled is just sad. ToMAto ToMAHto. Under J-Fled guys were so scared about being federally indicted over nothing they quit being the police. Under McJersey we are being stripped of manpower to dangerously low levels. Who is worse? Ya right, most cops ragged about getting rid of the desk spots, too bad there will be no where for you to go when you get close to retirement. A small percentage of officers posted comments about hiring more police vs. getting rid of anyone in an admin spot. We got what we asked for. Sad thing is that this Mayor thinks, (courtesy of all the truly dumb people who continually talk negatively about this person or that person or this unit or that unit does nothing, etc. etc.), he thinks we are all a bunch of idiots that hang out in donut shops. You guys will never learn. You are your own worst enemy.

Any copper out there who thinks the dept. runs better without specialized units is a total goof, I beleive that when someone makes statements like that they are jealous, a dog ass, or just a miserable person who hasn't proven himself as a good copper . Sure many people get to specialized units via clout, juice, whatever you call it, but some get noticed by the bossess as just being a good worker, I' have spend 80 percent in specialized units but I work. At the present time we have no manpower to respond in the time of a real emergency, I worked out at O'hare for the Flight 191 airplane crash back in 1979, we responded there within 45 minutes of the crash bec ause we were working days in the Task Forc, I responded to the Cook County Jail when prisoners excaped, They had 100 people from TRU and SOS there within 20 mins. So I'm sorry to tell you that placing everyone on Beat Cars is not going to make it, This city will have a disaster sooner or later, like a train or L crash and I hope that you don't lose a love one because the police response was slow. Lay off of the specialized units .

There was your chance, to bury the hatchet between CPD and the FBI, to end years of tension and mistrust.
And what did the REAL 1811s do? Ran away. And wouldn't let CPD HBT enter, who may or may not be as well trained or armed as you, but certainly wouldn't run away from a fight.
Detective Airhart suffered for the better part of a decade before passing away due to his injuries received on that day. I wonder how many of the REAL 1811s came to his funeral, or made a contribution to his family.
Alas the REAL 1811s had another opportunity to repair the relationship between CPD and the FBI when Jody took the helm in what really was an orchestrated attempt to keep the D.O.J. from directly monitoring the CPD and potentially causing Mayor Richie II embarassment and hurting his dream Olympic bid. Instead, it was a money grab for Jody who looked at the bottom line of his contract. He uneccessarily and viciously directly contributed to the conviction and incarceration of Bill Cozzi and yet shattered any hope of trust from "his troops".
Jody was such a failure, that after running the second largest police department in the country into the ground, he is virtually unemployable, working for only 1/4 of his previous salary for the Chicago Crime Commission.
So please Mr. REAL 1811, spare us your crap. You are not the police, just as we are not agents. Someone in your job is not automatically qualified to do ours, nor are you better.

NO THANKS. We've already seen that play out here in Chicago with one of our own many years ago, Chicago Police Detective Joe Airhart. Remember him? He laid on an apt. floor in a downtown apt. bldg. with a gaping gsw to the head, when you feds fled the place and left him, until you SWAT'd
up to go in and 'rescue' him hours later. Joe never recovered from his injuries. If I'm ever held hostage by anybody here in Chi, I'll take my chances with CPD SWAT; you guys can watch their perimeter, thank you very much!

And, my hat is off to the CPD exempt member that stood up to the FEEBS on that day in 2001 and told them, "Joe Airhart is a CPD Detective. He is one of ours, so stand down. We are going to do everything possible to get our detective out of there! You are welcome to watch professional local law enforcement in action, but step aside and we will do our jobs!"

On that day in 2001, Terry Hillard, John Thomas, Phil Cline, James Maurer, and Joe DeLopez were all there and not a one had the testicular fortitude to do the right thing, with Hillard being biggest culprit because he was the Superintendent of Police and he allowed the FEEBS to cut his balls off on his home ground, so don't just blame the FEEBS.

Jody Weis was horribly unqualified to be superintendent of any big city police force. Moreover, he is an egotistical, pompous, self-aggrandizing person (not 'man').
In order to validate his appointment to superintendent, he intentionally sought a target, even before he was formally hired by the City, and went out of his way to vilify and destroy Bill Cozzi.
He decimated this department and destroyed its morale. Destroyed it. He repeatedly proved he is no leader of men.
If he is, indeed, 'better' than McWayOutOfHisLeague, it's only because BOTH of them were NEVER qualified for this position.

Did you see him on the news last evening? I was disgusted. He was receiving some award for excellence in law enforcement from some organization. It made me ill.
I have to look it up so I make sure I never, ever donate anything to the organization responsible for giving the coward J-FLED an award for anything, unless it was Bekins or Mayflower or Allied giving him an award as a thank you for being hired to move his shit to Siberia.
