If they are going to keep the bullshit spot of "CAPS Sergeant" then they might as well have them handle the crossing guards.
After all.. they work Monday through Friday in most districts.

This way if a kid get's run over while crossing the street it will be on the video and we can automatically send out a citation for a $500 fine. It's not about making the city safer. Some wish that these violations go up and not down as it generates cash flow for the clouted businesses.
Probably for two reasons. One sgts and civilian supervisors get the same pay in the end. Two they need a real supervisor to write up medical abusers. Big crack down coming on medical abuse.

Great if you replace some of the lockup staff who have been riding the gravy train their entire career in 011, it would not be the worst thing that could ever happened. For countless number of years they have done what ever they want without supervision and go home early more often than not, and of course make po's wait in the cage forever to take their prisoners. Keep in mind that our current contract's expiration date (30 June 12) and most, if not all the negotiations towards the new contract will commence AFTER the G8 & NATO abominations.
Just the talk by the rank and file of "sitting back and letting the city burn" will surely be used by Rahm and Company as justification to float concessions/give-backs from us never before seen in the history of public servant contract negotiations. After all, there'll be no cash for the police when all discretionary monies will be earmarked to rebuild riot-scarred Chicago.
And any type of loss, whether property (or God forbid - lives) will be placed squarely on the shoulders of the CPD no matter how admirably the department performs as a whole when the shit hits the fan.

I feel sorry for some of the crossing guard supervisors. Most are retired coppers who took the job so they can retire early and use their new spot for the insurance to hold them over until they are eligable. Now they will be cut loose without insurance. Most districts are dumping te responsibility to the 2w because the Caps Sgt is just way too busy assigning community concerns to the watches to follow up on.

Remember, that old position was used by a LOT of aldermen as a way to secure votes. Most (if not all) TMA positions were filled with people who had the recommendation of their aldermen. You want a job? You become a TMA and to show your eternal gratitude, you then became a "volunteer" on some alderman's re-election campaign.
Then Rahm show' up, lays off a number of these political hires and then re-hires them into another position.
He now becomes the savior to all who had been laid off and a reminder to all aldermen that if you play ball, you will still get your perks.
Keep an eye on who the city re-hires for the civilian lock up position. All those aldermen that have towed the party line will get their people hired.

Think about that!
It will be hilarious when they have TMA's at the desk and TMA's in the lockups and 1 'bonding officer' so I guess anything not related to bonding out prisoners will be done by the TMA's.
Approve inventories, drop dope in the safe, and get prisoners ready for court as well as all walk in reports will be done by these guys supervised by the 'watch coordinator Lt' because the Capt. will be the XO and the bonding officer will not be in any 'acting' capacity, so will have no supervisory capability.
Can't wait for the 1st scandal--watch how fast sworn will be back in the lockup and on the desk.
Don't forget citizens, we have 3 watches and 25 districts at the moment, and our relief factor is .9, so for every officer on the street we need 9/10ths of an officer to cover for sickness, days off, etc. So, getting rid of 25 lockup keepers gives you the equivalent of about 13 bodies on the street, divided by 75 total watches gives you dum de dum.....
.17 of an officer on the street in each district on each watch !!
Now don't you feel safer with the .17 of an officer on the street, the G8 coming and lockups closing?
Our Xing supervisor had this figured out about 6 weeks ago, when she looked at the budget and didn't see a line item in it for her.

It takes a lot of balls to run up the cities debt on credit, awarding all your friends no bid contracts, giving the money to them and then when the cities credit card bills come in the mail you throw your hands in the air and exclaim who is going to pay for this?
It takes even bigger balls to lecture the people on obligations while blaming the last guy for all the evil credit binging, then awarding all kinds of perks that are not a part of "the last guy's: employment agreement or contract.
You know what I'm talking about.

The state pensions are $85 billion dollars underfunded. That bill is used as extortion for give-backs, cuts, and tax increases.
We give trillions of dollars to the banks as a bailout. No hard work involved. No earning it. It was a gift from the taxpayers. And that is used to extort higher taxes and cuts to the public
Then the city with the $85 billion dollar shortfall in pension money uses that as an excuse to borrow more money to make pension payments. The city borrows the money by issuing bonds and selling those bonds to the banks that just got the free no-strings attached trillion dollar bailouts from the tax payer. We should be all happy though...because the banks gave the city a good interest rate that the taxpayers will have to pay back from the free taxpayer money that the banks got in the first place and that the fed is holding over our heads as a financial debt crisis.
Now tell me that we are not all indentured servants under this plan.

Debt piled on top of debt, credit on top of credit. A crisis is created out of it and the taxpayers are being extorted to pay it off. I did not ask them to borrow all this money and to not follow their obligations by not paying into the pension funds. Why is the fiscal mismanagement now the taxpayers problem? Why aren't the lawmakers going to jail for negligence, fraud, racketeering, failure to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities?
Instead, we now have these lawmakers giving us three choices when it came to the pension mess.
1) we can keep what we have and contribute more letting the city off the work and it means we take a pay cut because more of our disposable income is spent on this.
In fact we are already paying more. We're paying more along with every single Illinois taxpayer (except the favored corporations ) with the higher 66% personal state tax increase.
2) we can accept a lower pension. A cut.
3) we can choose and 401K style plan and help give money back to the corporations that are extorting us all for more tax breaks.
The political apparatus will tell us how proud they are to give us this ability to choose and to have more control over our money and did you notice all the choices are cuts and losses?
I have an idea. Sell that states and the cities assets to raise the money. Take that glorified Daley plaza and give the naming rights to China in a free trade agreement. We can call it the New Red Square instead.
Cut the politicians wages and benefits. Sell the State Capitol and the other great Idols that are worshiped under this system.
How about raising the money that way? Don't give us you have a choice .. a knife in the back or a sharp stick in the eye..Go back to work and work on something else because this is all crap.

Check your damn calendar...it's a Sunday. Revenue hasn't had PEA's on the streets on Saturdays since 2009 and has NEVER let us work a Sunday.

I've worked for Moravec when he was assigned to the 3rd Watch. He took care of those that worked and didn't fuck off. When he called a few of the dogasses out for laying down on jobs the race card got pulled out. As far as I'm concerned he can be a little abrasive, but he has always taken care of those who do their job.

Believe it or not, a majority of them, not all, really do give a shit. Quite a few have Sworn spouses or family members. It's easy for someone to pick and choose who you want to talk shit about. From what I've seen, no one ever wrote about what a great job a dispatcher did.
This doesn't sound like the MORAVEC I know. Yeah, He can have a big mouth from time to time, but He'll watch out for his peeps and will ALWAYS help out if someone needs it.

Oh, please; catch the phone calls from the crossing guards who aren't coming to work today. Tell the early sergeant which corners now have to be covered by sworn police officers. Do A&A sheets on a computer. Fifteen minutes, tops.
As usual, the only real work involved will fall to the patrol sergeant and the beat officers.
Most TMA's could screw up a one car funeral. This will go down as one of the city's dumbest maneuvers ever.
I feel bad for the desk crews. They're going to be dealing with nothing but problems from these inept mouth breathers.

The worst kids are usually the kids of fellow cops who are big time bosses. They can get away with anything and something goes wrong they always call out their mom or dad and it'll be all ok.
Leave Hipiap alone. He brags about all these tickets he writes but forgets to mention a few things.
He writes the most tickets (always number 1), but he is also in the top 5 for the most contested tickets, and the top 5 for the most dismissed tickets.

What would make better sense is to redraw school boundaries so the least number of children have to cross major streets to get to school. This was proposed years ago and rejected by the school administration.

Yes, the Crossing Guard Supervisor in the Third District is an idiot. She always thought that she was the police but only amounted to a crossing guard. Good Luck with your resume you Dumb-Ass Crossing Guard, nobody is going to hire you because you have no professional skills and are a complete failure in life.
First off, just because some lock up guys have time on the job, doesn't mean they did real time on the job. For instance, two guys who work lock up in 009 on a very busy watch with a high arrest rate insist on having about 1 prisoner about every 45 minutes or so. They both have worked nothing but lock up, desk, or academy and seem to be really harsh with fellow p/o's. I'm sure one will retire and im curious to see what the other will do. I wonder how he will act with all the fellow officers he would love to give a hard time to. I'm all for replacing these guys with civilians. Put these guys on the street where they belong or let them retire. Enough is enough. Second, our life line on the street is our fellow officers. When we need help, it's our own officers who come and save the day...not the civilian dispatchers. P/o's ask for help and officers arrive without being dispatched..plain and simple. Our true life line is police officers which is why we need more on the street.

It's amazing all the hate I see from CPD about PEA's...when damn it; we are all City Employees doing our Jobs...be it PO or Water or yes...even Revenue.
The instant assumption that it is Revenue PEA's out on a Sunday doing the Job is disappointing when one considers that PEA's raise revenue to help pay City Employees like the Police and Fire and other needed Services.
I get that no one likes getting a parking ticket. I even understand why the Vast majority of PO's on the Job don't feel like pulling out a Parking Ticket book during their shift.
But our job is to Find and Write violations. If we know that a certain Starbucks or Dry Cleaner or yes...even a Church or Mosque or Synagog has a High level of repeat offenders, we go there and do the Job we were hired to do if we find violations.
WE are put into a position where No one likes us....we get ordered to patrol City Lots for City Sticker Checks. We get ordered to send boot trucks into the same areas.
And we get the occasional thank you for ticketing for street cleaning scofflaws and residential parking scofflaws.
I've been a Mouthbreather since Nov 2008. I've worked in 015 and 014 and 018 and 019 and 023 and 001 and 007 and 008 and 013 and 009 and 024 and 002.
I worked the Biliken and South Side Irish and all sorts of South Side African American and Latin and Humboldt Park and numerous other fests and parades and ball games as a TMA.
I'm the one you see on a Bike 90% of the time in 019 and 018 and 023 and 014. Yellow and Black Revenue Jacket. I give courtesy if I get it.
I have much respect for those that call themselves Police Officers.
But....
Don't hate the workers that had to settle for the job because they didn't have clout to get somewhere better. Or can't get into the Police Department because City Hall is full of idiots.

You have no fucking clue what a police officer does on a daily basis. Writing parking tickets is about the last thing on a long list of things do to on a daily basis. It is also the last thing anybody including the "CO" gives a fuck about. The only stroke I see here is the guy who boasts about his ticket writing prowess on a police blog.
I live on 811 too and know of the child and family you're speaking of. There is no excuse for anyone talking to your wife like that, especially a minor. But you don't have all the facts about his "dad." I believe he's actually the childs step father and a really nice guy. I'm sure he would prefer the child not get any "passes" if he is out there talking and acting like a savage.

Police entrance testing has been so poorly attended for the last ten years that they were hiring about 50% of applicants, if not more. Standards are at an all-time low.
Beale himself said that with the addition of a requirement for a paltry two years of college the number of applicants went from 30,000 to less than 3,000. You must have some serious issues that were revealed in the testing if you haven't been hired. Getting on the job is not difficult.
With the crossing guard supervisor gone, does that mean we can use that new squadcar she has parked in the corner of the lot that NO ONE else can use?
