125 Years
The maximum sentence, but in reality, barely adequate for the crime committed:
- A reputed gang member was sentenced to 125 years in prison today for the 2009 murder of Chicago police Officer Alejandro “Alex” Valadez in June 2009.
Shawn Gaston, 22, sat expressionless as the maximum sentence was imposed on him at the Cook County Criminal Courts Building.
“There is no sentence that can undo what Mr. Gaston has done,” Judge Jorge Alonso said in a courtroom packed with members of the Valadez and Gaston families and Chicago police officers.
Too bad the judge was restricted to only 125 years and not a public flogging, hanging, drawing and quartering. Rest in Peace Alex.

now he goes and hangs out with his gang buddys and he'll be out in 30 years for some reason that they make up in the future...F them he should die too..
Prayers for the Valadez family.
In valor there is hope.
Nice to see some bosses made it, I guess they learned a lesson from the trial that went on over the summer.
He'll be out on parole in less then 10yrs in CROOK county...RIP Alex

Ald. Mary O'Connor really went to bat for the police at the budget hearings. Staffing levels, equipment, vehicles and officer safety. Finally a politician looking out for us and actually representing the ward.
That is total bs. She is to afraid to speak up

The ravens should be picking at his eye sockets as we speak.
Nah, it's 100% on the 80 years for the murder and 85% on the additional 45 years for the attempt murder. Shawn will leave IDOC feet first on a gurney. Rotten SOB. Would have been better had he never been born.
Shameless attorney on Ch 2 last night saying he was a Police Officer that worked homicide for years. Said there was no evidence that his client did it and he would appeal.
The criminal justice system is broken. The attorney is there to make sure his client got a fair trial and presented his defense. He is not there to get him off at any cost. He did it and he will pay.
His attorney is as without a soul as his client. May they both rot in hell.
The Police Family lost a good human being, his parents did the right thing and raised a hero and upstanding citizen.
Too bad the offender's parents cant be charged with not being responsible and not raising a normal human being.
My condolences to the Valadez Family.
Just remember it was Quinn who took away the MAX sentence..........and it will be Quinn who lets him out early.....
Oh, don't forget the Ass Hole defense attorney who was laughing about the verdict on TV.....
On the plus side...
With any luck he'll get sodomized before he gets shived.

BE ADVISED -
The bosses couldn't give a flying shit about any PO on this job, dead or alive. One that showed up at Mike's wake snubbed us in a HQ elevator about 3 months prior to his murder.
I think public flogging and hanging should be performed in Chicago. I wouldn't want to to be visible to everyone, so if they just could erect some temporary walls around Daley Plaza, that would be terrific. It would defenetly teach some "shorties" to stay in line.
How about 120 years at HARD LABOR. Don't we have that provision in this state. Let this worthless asshole make big rocks into little rocks with a tiny hammer. Give him something to do until he gets his real justice on Judgement day.
125 years of shouting and braiding other men's hair and trading packages of noodles for packages of noodles as the seasons change outside, unnoticed.
See ya.
125 years isn't enough for this piece of shit, GOD bless Texas, they do it right!

Doesn't he have to serve at least 85% of his sentence? If so, that means he will be in for 100 years, past which point he is unlikely to trouble us.
I'd rather have a DP, too, but most of all I want the sentence that will be applied and will keep the perp off the streets.
If we can apply the DP properly, that is only in cases where there is NO doubt of the perp's guilt, I'm all for it. But if we can't apply it evenly and can't guarantee that an innocent person will not be executed, we'll have to settle for longer-than-possible-lifetime sentences.

That would be against the political correctness doctrine of the Democratic party.

I vote for firing squad. I hope this might serve as a deterrent for other gang-banging pieces of shit before they shoot at the police.
Just think though, that fucker is going to have a miserable life--he's only 22. He's done.
OT - Tom Cross and Pensions - Round 2
From Springfield Journal Newspaper
Illinois House Minority Leader Tom Cross, R-Oswego, said he will be ready to call a bill to set up a three-tiered pension system for state workers during the second week of the legislature’s veto session, which starts Nov. 8.
Cross said the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, a group of the city’s top CEOs, has brokered a deal in which House Republicans would provide 30 votes for the pension bill, Senate Bill 512, and House Democrats would provide another 30. Sixty votes are needed for legislation to pass the House.

Not that short of time. But as we have seen in the past where a certain Alderman from Humbolt Pk. attempted and is still attempting to have a Policemans killer released. This killer is still a gang leader and you have to wonder why he would want this killer released.
As a certain liberal news media outlet ststed a few years ago 85 percen of Cook County politicians have ties to the street gangs.
I am family member who works for the king )Rahm) 4/5 closed. 200 detectives to the districts starts jan 08 2012 spread the word
4/5 can move by bids then a city wide bid for the remainder of openings. SVU will take over sex crimes, CITY WIDE Homicide unit CITY WIDE CMO area 4 will be the spot JISC center north and south in 2013

I too call BS on this. Mary O'Connor is afraid of her own shadow. From what I've seen, she lets her staffers, Dan Stapleton and that m/4 do her fighting for her.
Since the guilty verdict is in...it is now time to get the Civil Suit going.
Sue the shooter and the attorney.

For what??
The POS shooter has nothing and will die in prison. Unless you think he might someday inherit some money, why?
As for his attorney: I am sure he would have liked to pull Gastons tongue out of his head. But being attorney means you sometimes have to defend a client you don't like, even if you hate him and want to kill him yourself. All attorneys in Cook County may catch these cases when order to do so by the court.
Yeah it sucks, but life sometimes does.
Goodbye motherfucker
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to Shawn Gaston or any other cop killer that comes close to evening the score or adequate punishment
One Alex Valadez is worth 24 Octillion Shawn Gastons But thaths justthe way things go
RIP Alex Rot in Hell Gaston

GREAT, NOW EVEN THE DOPE DEALERS ARE READING SCC AND ASKING FOR MORE INFO ON WHAT THE "POLISES BE DOIN" ON THEIR BLOCK.

You must be the attorney's son. He laughed about the verdict in his television interview. He touted the fact that he used to be a police officer and that there was no evidence. He then filed an appeal so the family can be tortured further.
He wasn't forced to take this evil client. He wanted the fame and money that comes with getting a cop killer off. Lots of clients at the door if he can pull that off.
His job is to present the facts of the case and provide his client's defense. A lawyer's job is not to obfuscate the facts and try to WIN a release while rubbing Lady Justice's nose in the dirt.
Don't you dare throw off the 'life suck, that's the way it is' bullshit. This lawyer, and all like him are as bad as their clients and I hope they rot in hell along with them.

Most Prisoners get a job in the Joint as I recall...they have to be paid for it as well. And they pay the inmate between .35 and 1.10 per hour to do them so they can earn cash for smokes and other goods at the commissary. Sounds like Income to me that can me garnished.
That's over a Grand in income per year for a Cop Killer that needs Garnishment.
For What?

I'm certain that the cash paid to the attorney was 100% legally earned by the supporters of the asshole perp.
Thirty years in Homicide.(1979-2010) A#1,2,3,5,606. never saw this guy in court, attorney at work, 26th st., cafeterria, or when I worked A#1,2,4 SOG. Lets knock this off at appeal BEFORE he claims he was a major dick in homicide. His bio says:
Made dick after 2 years-went immediatly to INTELLIGENCE
Then he wasulsent to DEA TASK FORCE
Then back as a dick where he worked while he finished Law School. (HACK,-political)Then went to the ASA ON LEAVE OF ABSENCE, UNTIL HIS WIFE GOT HER DOCTORATE FROM HARVARD. Check this out FOP..When he claims to be the police....let it be known that he sold his soul to the devil for the almighty dollar/bondslip. How many cases or grand juries did he testify at. How many people does he have on death row.
May this piece of shit get ass and mouth fucked every day of his worthless life.
Death to cop killers. Nothing short of that is acceptable. RIP Officer. The good truly do die young.
