ACLU Sues for What Now?
Chicago is a city of haves and have-nots when it comes to police protection, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois sued in Cook County Circuit Court, saying the city is failing to deploy cops equitably across the city’s neighborhoods.
The number of backlogged 911 calls is unevenly large in neighborhoods with the biggest minority populations, the lawsuit said.
“Disproportionate numbers of delays in 911 calls have a devastating effect on a neighborhood,” said Harvey Grossman, an ACLU attorney.
Well, if your clients didn't act like assholes every single chance they got; if they understood the meaning of the word "emergency;" if they didn't waste officers' time with nonsense and bullshit and noncooperation and making a scene rather than solving the problem....

Maybe the ACLU can sue the government for me too! I feel that whites are being severely discriminated against! We need to see more white murder victims. The ACLU has arbitrarily decided response time is the determining factor. How about we decide 'cops per square meter' is key? Or, cops per dollar spent on taxes? Or cops per lunar eclipse or placement of the constellations?
Maybe, in 016, the residents call for REAL crime, while the residents of 011 call because some young man 'won't mind me, and go to school'. The residents of 016 shouldn't be deprived of police coverage because of that. (No, I don't live in sixteen.)

The 16th district is dangerously undermanned and these liberal pricks want to sue for more police protection? How about the taxpayers? What do we get? When a beat car is stacked with multiple jobs due to the never ending back log of bs, than of course the response time to the third job will be longer than the beat car in white neighborhoods where they get one job a night. 2. People with bats and knives fighting. Or people with bats, knives and sticks fighting.
3. Oh yes, the ghetto domestics. One party wants the other party out of the house.
4. My kid won't go to school. Or another family member disrespected me.
Most calls for police service in the shitty areas of the city are total bullshit and total nonsense. People in the hard working areas of Chicago actually know the meaning of emergency. These ghetto rats don't.

Because I pay more in property taxes than those representing the neighborhoods that are claiming to get less (all of the sudden/ghetto). But what they don't understand is, the neighborhoods that DO pay more in taxes than they do, also don't have any more police servicing them either. I saw my taxes go up on my second installment, my exemptions go down, my pay stay the same. I pay for my food, kids, and a place to live, they don't. I think the ACLU has it all backwards and should someday help those that try to help themselves

Excellent post! I live on 2211 and your point is right on! I'd like to add the lack of CFD ambulance on 2211. I would bet a vast majority of ambulance 17's runs are east of Western. Why? Because the folks on 2211 don't call CFD for the stomach flu or hangnail. My elderly parents call me to take them to the hospital in an emergency situation. In their eyes, "what if someone in worse shape than me needs an ambulance"? A lot of your old-timers who were not raised under the "entitlement" system really looked out for each other, and always thought of the other person.

WRONG! They're gonna use this as yet another reason to strip the homeland of their well-deserved police service and give it to the ghetto-dwellers who call the police for any and every reason.
They need to break it down to the types of calls that are coming from these third world districts, not just the raw number of calls.
It takes time to get a police officer's response in the 16th dist too!!! I waited 1/2 hr for a police response. I called the dist after calling 911 again. they said they only had 2 cars and they were on calls.

The neighborhoods "with the biggest minority populations" are responsible for the majority of crime in this city. And crime statistics, however watered-down and manipulated to the contrary by the CPD Crime Killing Wizards support this claim.
And while I'm assigning the blame where it ought rightfully be placed, allow me to state another obvious spectacle. The increase in criminal activity in neighborhoods that were traditionally crime free is directly attributable to the very same minorities that still do, or once did, hail from the neighborhoods the ACLU is bitching about. I offer up the south side "misguided yufes" that make the trek via the Red Line to "wild" along the Mag Mile and throughout the Central Business District as the most glaring of examples.
It doesn't a crystal ball (or even a pretend police officer assigned to the Crystal Ball Unit) to see that the spread of the "cancer" can be directly linked to the demolition of public housing, the dismal housing market/foreclosure rates and the overall piss-poor economy.
Cancer spreads to areas of a host whose defenses are weakened, hence the uptick of these emboldened assholes doing their "thang" in places where they'd never dream of doing it before. Less police = more cancer...SIMPLE AS THAT.
Community organizers in areas being plagued with crime and the miscreants causing it because of stripped police resources (read 022, 016 etc) need to file their own class action suits. The city's number fudging, admission of under-hiring for years while budgeted for more officers and blatant stripping of police resources from those who pay the lion's share of taxes might be a good basis to get the ball rolling.

This, yet another frivolous lawsuit will accomplish only one thing: More police re-deployed FROM areas like 016 and 022 to places like 015, 007, and 005.
It won’t create any more Officers, just another shuffle of the ones we have now.
Is there a way a counter suit can be filed against them (ACLU)?? This is ridiculous! 2211 is HUGE! Compared to a 611, or 621 for example. I get that there is no beat integrity there due to the fact that the call volume is so high there, but come on! For Christ's sake! There's NO beat cars roaming around 2211 unless they're going to get food on the beat or stop home! This lawsuit is a joke!How about take a look at the stats for calls for service in the areas they're claiming they need more police! WAY higher than in a decent district! Thats a good point. Lets use 008 as an example. Two seperate areas, the area of kedzie to bell and crom harlem to central ave. The area of kedzie to bell is about 70 percent black and 30 percent hispanic. The area of central to harlem is about 95 percent white. lets break down the manpower of these two areas in the same district. In the white area there are two beat cars, 811 and 812. they also have 851 and 841.. two rapids. that area is about twice the size of kedzie to bell. Now, the black area which is about half the size as the white area has 824,825, 823 and 832. They also have the following rapids, 842, 843,844,845, 846, 847, 849, 852, 853, 854, 855,856,857, 5 tac cars and 5 cars from the 806 team(which are ORDERED to stay east of kedzie). So in the white neighborhood there are 4 cars. In the black area there are 27 cars. Guess in which are there are the major backlogs in on a daily basis?? Yep, thats right in the black neighborhood. They have almost ALL of the cars in the district and they have to wait because it is so busy because of all the nonsense calls. If your not a cop and are reading these posts i hope your getting the point. The people who dont give a damn about the neighborhood are the ones getting the most service and abusing the 911 system. They call for anything and everything no matter how stupid it is. meanwhile, the white area as soon as there is a 911 call usually a car will respond. Because its usually an emergency and the beat cars arent overloaded with BU*LSHIT JOBS like in the ghetto. I guess the aclu doesnt get it.

There whole basis for this lawsuit is going to be based on calls for service. I have been preaching to my friends that live in 016 and 017 that they need to call 911 when they see something, then maybe it may make a difference. Call 911 for everyhting you see if you live in 016, 017, 022, and 008 or any other tax paying district. Why should we suffer when the ghetto gets all the service.
Maybe if those officers who take 2 hours to clear a noise disturbance or take 3 hours on a burglary report would clear and take another job that would help , but we all know that will never happen

The squeaky wheel gets the grease in this City, and if your call to 311 or 911 is legit, there's absolutely nothing wrong with asking for the police to come by and check it out. Minority community calls for both legitimate and illigitimate concerns, so you are totally within your right to call for police assistance when your concern is legit. Be sure to do it, or YOUR neighborhoods will be stripped of officers more and more, and then the vultures will move in, to prey on you and yours.

The ACLU ? Tour kidding me, right? They have always been against discrimination, except what they said was " good discrimination", that is quotas and race norming for promotions. Instead of trying to fix the problem of a poor promotion system that was poorly constructed and rigged, they were satisfied with a numbers game that caused a lot of resentment in the ranks. The lawsuit was filed in State court not federal. The ALCU usually doesn't work that way. Rahm has been demolishing all the units and adding almost every cop to the ghetto. NO hiring will be done. More personnel will be stolen from the tax paying neighborhoods and moved to the ghetto. The desired result will be an equal number of crimes across the city. The ACLU wants EVERYONE to suffer equally across all racial and ethnic areas. In other words, more murders in the safer areas and fewer in the ghetto.

I have mixed feelings on this one. First, I HATE the nanny state further and further restricting my rights and tightening the noose around my neck on all my personal freedoms and choices.
But, as a driver (forget the police part of this) watching adult bicyclists become more prolific, more aggressive, more arrogant, more oblivious and/or more dangerous on the streets, it might be time to make them more accountable.
Can't wait to see who gets the contract for the bike license plates.
We all know what the problems are..now how do we begin to stop this evil, this insanity?
FIRST, we need to remove the socialist/communist/marxinst/revolutionary/islamic sympathizer oboma and his hacks. Period. We must vote for a true conservative at the PRIMARY first, so that we can then vote for a true conservative candidate at the General Election in November, 2012. A true conservative will uphold the Constitution, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, OUR FREEDOM!
Now is the time to join forces with like-minded people, join organizations that promote true conservatives, put aside all distractions and work our asses off for a true conservatie..this is our World War III, and we must work it to win it. As Preliminary investigators, how many calls end up with even a verdict in court? Tell the ACLU even legit calls from citizens, are not, based upon how many complaint signers refuse to prosecute, or do sign but don't show up in court, then how many people act as witnesses to crimes where people are murdered, shot, even raped, not many. Tell them we act as an extension of the courts and NOT marriage councilors, social workers, parents, building inspectors, or civil court judges. I've had people shot, raped, and stabbed and refuse to prosecute offenders, they don't care, they just want us to show up to keep the peace for part of their day. I do believe these people need protection? However, other parts of the city also need protection. And to sue based upon raps issued by OEMC, what about reform onto to the our calls of service, an idea is no more anonymous calls, you must leave a name and phone #.
Remember the people bringing this lawsuits live in an enclosed world of classrooms and temperature controlled buildings. While driving nice cars and protected by security guards who dwell in gated communities. Then work courtrooms, governed by the same people who don't face threats or live in the real world.
Its as those people at IPRA who take the side of convicted murderers, robbers, rapist, shooters, gang bangers, e-cons, liars, drug users, OVER family men/women, never been arrested for a crime, pay taxes, will save your life, chase the guy who just committed a crime vs you, protecting a city. And they will cheer when they get paperwork signed to strip you.
How far from reality are these people? Well based upon years of rhetoric from the majority of our nation's college professors. Real far. Many working class, or poor citizens have said these snippets to me "I love the chicago police"- " you're doing your job" -" arrest all those motherfuckers"- " go over there beat the fuck out of them" "thank you" "I wish you could do something about this, but I'm scared" All officers have heard similar lines or have stories. Not from educated elitist such as the ACLU, but from real citizens of Chicago. These lawyers and judges are modern day kings, princes and lords of the United States from their castles they tell us peasants how to act without a clue. Immune from prosecution and lawsuits. It takes time to get a police officer's response in the 16th dist too!!! I waited 1/2 hr for a police response. I called the dist after calling 911 again. they said they only had 2 cars and they were on calls.

We are City Employees. We have the Legal Right to Sue for Injuries sustained while on duty.
We just have to sue everyone that hits or hurts us while we are on duty....and why this isn't done on a regular basis amazes me.

This is not stupid, they use and damage the same roads motorists do, they have special lanes that they should pay for, not me. They disobey traffic laws. All bikes owned by anyone old enough to have a drivers license, should have a license to ride a bike on a city street. They also need a license plate on the back of their bike for tickets when not obeying the traffic laws for cyclists. They should receive fines for not following the laws that were put in place to keep us all safe. I have seen bicyclists go through lights, ride on sidewalks when people are walking on them almost knocking these people over, pull in front of cars and cuss at the driver. I saw one guy hit a car so hard on Elston Ave, that he and his bike went flying over the car. Talk about a mess, and the bike rider was at fault, he hit the car in the rear end.
So, I agree with Mell for once, all bike riders over 16 should have a riders license, and the bikes should have permits like cars.

Its a manipulation, the ACLU will get a court order in the nature of a "consent decree" requiring the City to hire more police, the mayor will say that its out of his hands and that property taxes have to be raised so that more police can be handled.
Its the same kind of manipulation that Harold Washington engaged in in the early 80's when he threatened to fire about 200recruits shortly after they left the Academy. Rather than let that happen the City Council passed a tax hike.
I'm willing to bet that Rahm was well aware of the lawsuit before it was filed and may even be supporting it. Its that tax hike that is unpopular not hiring more police.

The comment was that a Bike = Mobile Vehicle..that poster didn't say Motor, reading comprehension. There are battery powered Scooters and Battery Driven Bicycles and gas powered pedal Bikes. If I run a Cop over while riding a Bicycle...is it any less serious than if I'd hit the cop with a Harley or a Honda or a Hummer?
The Answer is No.
Thus the Rules are the same for a Bike as they are for a Motor Vehicle...Stop at a Light...Yield for Pedestrians..Stop for Signals...follow the correct flow of traffic..

So, the 16th district has 8 times the land mass as the 15th, and 1/2 of the police per resident (based on number of primary beats)
Keep in mind that 15 also puts up a fair amount of response cars, something I believe is usually a luxury in 016, so the numbers are even worse than they appear.
What the ACLU needs to figure out is this neighborhood has 100% more police per capita than 16 does and that the number of people who call is just out of line! So too bad for your response time.... My response time is long too, because my officer could be coming from 8 times farther away than your officer ever will be.
22nd district, you fit right in the middle of 15 & 16's numbers, so do what you want with that info.......
All of the data I crunched was obtained from the 2009 CPD annual report, which is online, and can be found with a quick google search.

Check it out. It clearly shows that most ghetto districts are geographically small and very well staffed with officers.

No one cares about property crimes apparently. ANd when they discuss violent crimes ... most are probably bullshit "He's jumpin' on me" batteries
