Scumbag Media Changes Story
Here's how it read before:
- As for the female officer, ABC7 is told she was treated and released from an area hospital after suffering injuries to her hand and presumably injuries to her face, if in fact she was punched.
- As for the female officer, ABC7's Jason Knowles was told she was treated and released from an area hospital after suffering injuries to her hand and face.
No note about how things were altered. Just a change and a hope that it all fades down the memory hole.
Next, we're sure one or both of the credited reporters (Jessica D'Onofrio and Jason Knowles) will claim it was an unnamed editor who wrote this piece and they had nothing to do with the offending passage. If so, then (A) have your name removed from the piece or (B) resign, seeing as how that person has destroyed any credibility you have.
Anyone who has a listing of ABC 7 sponsors to boycott, post them in the comment section.

Is this officer aware that if she just let this animal run back into his habitat then there would be no threat to take her money, her job, her freedom, or her life?
Is she aware that the Cook County SA would happily put her into prison to the raucous applause of the citizens of this great shithole?
Is she aware the the city will one day ask her to pitch in $1000 to $5000 dollars to cover her punitive damages and settle the civil suit brought by this animal's brood?
Is she aware that nothing would make her superiors on this miserable department happier than passing her case onto the SA for criminal charges? Does she know her bosses, the very ones who asked her to arrest animals, would smile at the press conference announcing criminal charges against her?
Does she know she will get tons of support from her co-workers and that none of it will matter when she stands alone in a civil or criminal case? Is she aware that the memories of some of her coworkers will fade and their answers suddenly unclear or unhelpful when they must testify at her civil suit? Does she know that many fellow cops who were there will report that they didn't see anything?
She has learned a lesson only some of us really know. You'll never be more alone on this job than you are when the heat is on you.

You know I actually called the number to complain to ABC posted by a P.O. on the original thread. I was very cordial but stated my opinion of biased reporting by that reporter D'onorfrio and the person who answered listened to what I had to say and she actually stated "I understand, you are not the only person calling in about this" So my point being maybe many of us called and something did get done...I will give them credit for that, although I will still look at the media as being biased.

None of these businesses will get my money. I will fly any other airline, shop at any other grocery store, furniture store and car dealership. No problem.
I've been on this job over 30 plus years and I cannot remember one, that's one time, the Chicago media has reported a Police shooting as justified.
They always look for & find a " eyewitnesses " who saw the the whole thing, " murder by, execution of, ' dey didn't have to shoot him " hype.
But when the true facts come out, the story is buried on page 50.
Well, ABC 7 was one of the last local news stations I watched, but now I'm done with them too. I dumped CBS, WGN and then NBC years ago, but now I have to add ABC 7 to the list. I guess FOX will be the only one I will watch once in awhile now.
News is truth!

The 'founding fathers' were so confused with their primitive beliefs when they wrote the Constitution. We all know that power comes from the State and whoever is the leader. We got rid of Easter, Christmas is in the works and Thanksgiving is next. We will all read about the myth of Christianity next to the old Greek and Roman gods when we establish our Progressive ways.

After reading the anti-police article the other day I was pissed enough to write a nasty-gram to Channel 7 to complain. Here is a response I received today.
Thank you for writing.
"We covered both sides of the story by presenting what police said in their initial overnight report to our assignment desk and what witnesses told us. We also talked to family members of the suspect who were in support of him. They did not believe the Police.
I do not believe the story was slanted or bias. I have no agenda for or against the police or the suspect.
Keep in mind, Chicago Police News Affairs never issued a detailed response or official statement on -or off camera after several requests throughout the day. I also personally went to 35th and Michigan police headquarters and walked in to seek a statement. I was told there would be no statement.
As for the hospital vocabulary used in the report, officials were only telling us that the officer was treated and released for injuries to her hand. However, since police also said the officer was punched in the overnight report, I felt it was necessary to assert that she was likely treated for facial injuries. This was a line I believed was in support of the officer and the police.
The line "if in fact she was punched " was used because witnesses were disputing the police claim that the officer was punched. I was not there to see this incident unfold. Again, police never gave details about the officers facial injuries.
I have complete respect for police officers and have been a part of the police academy training. I also know how officers have to make split second decisions in a life or death situation."
