Thank GOD, burn in hell you worthless piece of human(I use that word very loosely) garbage. Too bad the death penalty doesn't exist in this stupid state anymore.
Nice job by all involved including ASA Jim McKay (sp?)and his partners. Pray the good judge does the 'right thing' at the sentencing portion. R.I.P. brother Nate.
R.I.P. Officer Taylor & may God watch over & bless your family in your absence. Thank you for your service to this city. Now hopefull this guy nevers see the outside of the walls again.
Gov. Quinn should be on trial for abolishing the death penality. This is a good example of why we need the death penality. Now the son of bitch gets to live in jail the rest of his life, like a king for killing a cop. Just ain't right.
big surprise. Defense rested. Wouldn't put the uneducated , iliterate, ignorant killer subject to cross exaimiination, or put his arrest record in front of the jury.
"Thou canst not move across the grass But my quick eyes will see Thee pass, Nor speak, however silently, But my hushed voice will answer Thee. The Lord holds the hand of Officer Nathaniel Taylor this evening.
Off topic: The WEISel makes the rounds on Ch. 2 news with the Chicago Crime Commission's new 'Gang Book." I guess it's gotta be MUST READING if former Supt. jughead sez so!
I'd like to say this has restored my faith in our "criminal justice" system, but it will take a lot more than this case. I hope this jagoff never sees a day of freedom again.
Rip Nate, and we lost another good man tonite. Sgt Scott Jaske of 014th District. He put up with a lot of shit till it finally got to him. He like many used to love this job. At the end he hated every stinking minute of it and it ate him up. Stress kills.
Nate is gone forever, and this pile of dung gets to breathe on our dime for 40-60 years. I hope that all the young officers on the job remember to go to the parole hearings in 20 years or so. Make sure that the phrase "never forgotten" has meaning.
God bless Nate, his family and every name on the wall in HQ.
CBS starts out tonight with their cop bashing, how it was inappropriate that the police in the courtroom cheered the verdict, booed the defense attorney and congratulated the prosecution. I swear to God, if you police and you talk to CBS about anything you are a gigantic asshole.
The turnout for our side was fantastic. THE ENTIRE WEST SIDE OF THE SEVENTH FLOOR WAS SRO for Closing Arguments and that was after Judge Ford allowed time for the Bailiffs to have 3 extra pews moved in on each side of the room. Perhaps more remarkable, it was virtually the same situation @ 16:00for the verdict and that with only a 20 minute notice. To anyone worried about about the Judge... DON'T BE! If DEATH were on the table, Judge Ford would oblige. Expect the MAX. The one thing that worries me at this point is the inevitable appeal. Cooper's Atty's essentially conceded all charges but for Murder of PO and wound up losing that too. If the jury had any doubt going to close, his lawyers convicted him. Get a .45 if you don't have one. SEMPER FI NATE.
Alvarez gets a lot of grief on this blog. But when it comes to the prosecution of cop killers she brings her A game. She assigned two of the most experienced and effective prosecutors to this case. They were reassigned from their supervisory duties to make sure this rotten cop killer was convicted. Kudos to Jim McKay and Brian Sexton who put on a very tight case which left no doubt in the minds of the jurors. God bless Nate and his family.
God forbid something ever happens to any officer, but if it did and the offender was grabbed and charged there is no two ASAs better than Brian Sexton & Jim McKay.
These to guys are the best of the best and I've watched both in action for years. Job well done boys! Area Four Detective Division.
The assistant public defender was very upset that the police officers in court erupted in cheers at the announcement of the verdict. I have a suggestion for the judge in sentencing this cop murderer. Every day for the rest of his worthless ass stinking life he has to listen to a soundtrack of the officers in his courtroom erupting in loud cheers when the jury found him guilty. His own purgatory.
Rest in peace Nate. You leave behind so many who love you and miss your warm smile. Your way of caring for all whom you called a friend. And you called so many of us friends. Your daughter is beautiful. She and all of those who love you are your legacy. May we never forget the way you lived. Because of you, the world was a better place. We miss you forever.
Wish you were right...there was a death penalty, those sentenced to die were commuted by a democratic scumsucking government. Soon, they will find as they already have begun to explore, that Cooper is useful to them to vote for more thieving democrats, and a reduction in sentence and release will buy that vote.
You can't actually believe any democrat would side with a cop over a minority murderer....can you?

Semper Fi Nate
I am happy that the Justice system worked in this case.
I wish a jury trial had not be necessary and that Nate was still with us.
To all PO's...if you can, MOVE out of the areas that have all these thugs.
I willingly live in an Apt with my Wife in 2333....rather than own a house in 014 or 020.
Its safer.
FEED ME!
Sgt. Paul Jaske 014/3rd Watch died this afternoon at NW Hospital.
Rest in Peace Buddy
This brings a little closer to a very said incident. My pryers go to the family, on another hard night without their loved one.
I'd like to say this has restored my faith in our "criminal justice" system, but it will take a lot more than this case. I hope this jagoff never sees a day of freedom again.

R.I.P. Nate. Justice was served.
Another one enroute to Menard for 80-100 years.
Thank you Govenor Quinn for taking the death penalty off the table. Cop Killer/ Death Penalty. DUMP QUINN!!!
10:37, what's this about get a .45? What are you talking about?

The perp will be back on the streets in 5-10 years to do something much worse.
Just a FYI it was another numbnut govenors brainfart that started the No Death penalty ...Jim Ryan... Lets not forget his Thanks too!!!!

Burn in hell you savage mutt.
Cooper is guilty of First Degree Murder of a Police Officer. The conviction carries a MANDATORY life sentence. He can get nothing less.
After 1995, every convicted murderer must serve 100% of his sentence. There is no parole for murder in Illinois today.
There will be no parole hearings for Cooper.
Rest in peace Nate. You leave behind so many who love you and miss your warm smile. Your way of caring for all whom you called a friend. And you called so many of us friends.
Your daughter is beautiful.

Too bad "Old Sparky", a.k.a. " The
Kilowatt Couch " beat a hasty retreat from the County Jail after
it was finished with James Dukes.
With Jim McKay and Brian Sexton prosecuting him, and Nick Ford the Judge, things couldn't go worse for this asshole.
You couldn't find 3 better people involved in this jagoff's trial.
Ex A/1 V/C
If any of us votes for any of the jags who voted out the death penalty, shame on you. Rest in Peace, Nate.
There will be no parole hearings for Cooper.

Governor Jim Ryan? You mean George Ryan you mush. Ryan didn't end the Death Penalty by law, only by practice. Quinn ended it by law.
Great job Jim McKay, Brian Sexton and Pat Kelly (former police officer) on getting some justice here.
