Officer Doing Better

  • A decorated Chicago police officer was awake and aware this afternoon after being shot in the chest during a foot chase on the South Side, authorities say. A person of interest is being questioned.

South Chicago District tactical officer Del Pearson, 47, was shot just above his bulletproof vest and underwent surgery through the night at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn...

Doctors' first priority was to stop the bleeding, and the bullet remains lodged near Pearson's spine, [...] told reporters outside the hospital this morning. "He's holding his own."

By this afternoon, Pearson was awake, aware and interacting with family members, a police spokeswoman said. His wife, two children, mother and pastor were at the hospital.

Pearson joined the department in 2003 and has received 109 department awards and commendations, including the Superintendent's Award of Valor after he shot and killed a man during an exchange of gunfire in July of 2007, police said.
Exactly the type of officer you'd expect to run after a suspicious person in a craptacular neighborhood intent on mischief and violence. Get well soon Officer.

He sounds like a badass. It is good to know that the city has great men and women like him protecting us while we sleep at night. It is a shame the way the city leadership and a great deal of the city residents treat you guys and take your services for granted. You deserve better, such as a funded pension, a raise, more equipment, and better working conditions.

I am glad to know that he is recovering. Stay safe and look out for each other. You guys are appreciated by many citizens. Godspeed and Godbless.

Ofc. Pearson was out there doing his job on a city street, trying to make things safer for everyone. There is no higher calling.

God bless him and family. We are all pulling for you.

Rest and get better and don't worry about nothin'.

My point EXACTLY!!! When I saw McDildo on tv saying "this is a good cop, how could this happen?" that was my first thought! This IS a good cop, which is HOW he found a guy with a gun, and WHY he gave chase!!! And when he said that, it kind of implied that only bad cops get shot, and good ones don't. It almost sounded like he was putting down other officers wounded in the past, saying they were bad cops. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.......

In response to what some of the posters are saying re cops that "still" do job, 99.9% of you do and that is obvious to anybody living here in Chicago. I'm impressed beyond words with the professionalism you show as we cross paths, or just as an observer of you. I couldn't respect or herald more the make-up of the Chicago Police Officer. Male or female, you wear the "badge" like consummate pros. I'm honored to live in a city of such great training and breeding of cops, generation to generation or new to the force. Not a doubt in my mind you are THE finest a city could ask for.

I was talking to a very close friend that was at the hospital during the whole surgery and what not. He told me that McCarthy was a total embarrassment to the department while sitting with the family. He also just sat there as other family members got there & even fell asleep. On the other hand 1st Dept Wysinger was the exact opposite. Caring and very concerned.

McJagbag was probably pissed that he had to leave the bar to go sit at the hospital & wait for the outcome.

www.breitbart.com is VETTING oboma with a series of daily articles, videos of WHO and WHAT oboma is...this is something the leftist media WOULD not do when he was running for office, and now will NOT do because they are on oboma's payroll and beholden to him big time...in other words, complicit in the treasonous acts of oboma against the USA.

Why are we putting up with this two year wonder? Honestly I think he is blowing us off because he is looking at the numbers on this blog. Get the word out to every one you work with. Go the the blog starting tomorrow and voice your disgust with FOP. SCC please think about starting a thread and see how police officers feel about their union especially since the shooting began. Why doesn't FOP call for a press conference? Funny how the city and FOP are so quiet about what happened last weekend. I hate to say it but it will be a repeat this weekend. "has anyone noticed that the mayor NEVER, EVER expresses outrage, concern, or even mankes a comment, when a police officer is shot?"

You're correct!

Rahm Emanuel is a hollow, callow, cowardly, craven, pandering little shit-ass of a half-human being.

You see... Personal, financial and career peril. The possibility of getting hurt, contracting something ghastly from one of the many human borne & environmental heebie-jeebies we're exposed to or dying from stress, grief, aggravation or being killed in the lind of duty... Rahm says that's what you blue shirts deserve and he's going to make sure you get all of it.

You see... Rahm and his ilk up in the North Shore, the Gold Coast and in D.C. don't have a damned thing in common with those of us here at ground level and they want to keep it that way.

They're so smug, smart and have the world by the pink & the stink at the same time.

They're born and bred to not give a fuck about somebody that won't benefit them financially.

They tend to form mutually advantageous financial relationships. Brotherhood and camaraderie for the sake of are lost on them.

To them, Policemen rate lower than Dude & Co. shooting dice with their dicks out at Chicago & Lawndale.

Policemen mean those big scary and strange men with "OMG! GUNS!" scars, hairy knuckles, cold hard eyes and raspy voices who for all the wrong reasons don't think like they do.

Policemen...

The very word scares the shit out of these people.

They don't understand why but they're scared.

You'll never see a Rahm and an Obama or a Daley and an Axelrod back to back in a pissy/shitty 2 inch flying roach infested 13th floor stairwell at oh dark muthafuckin' thirty on the 2nd week of a killing heat wave fighting for their lives.

You'll never see them standing over what's left of a 360 pound corpse bloated and melted into the shag carpet... Heh... You're the wagon crew... You try figure that funky shit out.

You'll never see them trying to keep from executing a dog-ass who shook an 18 month old to death because the kid wouldn't stop crying.

You'll never see them level, square and squeeze on a funky bastard pulling a pistol from his waistband nor go through the grief and aggravation of revisiting that shit years later because some political appointee head-hunting bitch feels she doesn't have enough Police scalps hanging from her belt.

Heh... Can you imagine the little shit-assed dancer and his ilk who backed into every bit of their much undeserved good luck and fortune saying, "Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and won the silly assed prize?"

The Police are the enemy?

Viva Hate... Every man is left to defend himself according to his own conscience.

Have we come to the point where the rallying cry is "Fuck rationality... Back to the trees?"

We didn't break it and it's way beyond us to fix it but we're being charged for it.

Society has gleefully turned it's back on the peacekeepers and Rahm & Co. couldn't be happier.

Anybody want to be outraged about that?

While I'm thrilled beyond reason that Mr. Emanuel took three minutes out of his oh-so-important life to extend the extraordinary courtesy of a PHONE CALL to a man who nearly lost his life while protecting this city, it still does not address my post.

I want a mayor who pounds the podium and musters up a tiny bit of righteous indignation when one of us is gunned down. Especially when it is happening with ever-increasing frequency.

Even a little acknowledgement of the occurrence would be appreciated.

I have a new found respect for the "Soup". Did you know?
That wounded Officer Dels' father retired from the job years ago and has since passed away. Well after coming on the job Del, decided track down his dads star and see if it was still in use. It was. turns out some copper in a north side district had it. Well turns out Del reached out to this copper and asked if she/he could find it in their heart to part with it. Needless to say she/he wouldnt. In essence they told Del you can have it when I retire. Del kind of upset, understood. Well, while Del was in the hospital unconcious either from surgery or the massive amount of meds they provided him, someone in his family relayed this story to the "soup" (who by the way has been to see Del everyday, sometimes twice a day along with
1st Dep. Al Wysinger). Well when Del finally came out of it long enough to actually speak to the "soup" he handed Del his dads star. What a guy. Well I know Del and when I heard this I just had to ask. Del confirmed it. And being the hard hitting copper he is, i saw the joy in his eyes. Hes got that star on his his hospital bed table in a belt holster. Boss you just dont know how much that meant to Del. And as for that copper who decided to give up that star "God Bless You".
