Still Ongoing
Nary a break in sight:
- One person was killed and a dozen others were hurt in shootings across the city from Friday afternoon into early Saturday, police said.
And then Saturday afternoon:
- At least five people were wounded this afternoon and evening in separate shootings on the city's South and Far South sides, officials said.
Can't even take a day off with Obama in town. If the rain hold off....

I remember two movies from my youth that dealt with ghetto violence and racism--- " do the right thing " and " boyz in the hood " --- almost 20 years later this stuff still occurs everyday and nothing has changed--- it will never change, savages will continue to kill each other no matter what program the government or the reverends trot out to try to stop it--- their is a lot of money in dope and their will always be dopes to deal it....
PR fest run down-
Shoot out between MLDs and a family of Kings a block from the entrance to PR fest. Two in custody gun recovered.
Spanish Cobra arrested after foot chase with a loaded Tec-9 another block away from there.
Dragons shoot a Spanish Cobra 3x in the back a half block from the entrance as the fest was closing.
THOUSANDS of gang bangers on the surrounding blocks throwing bricks and bottles.
It isn't as bad as it used to be, but why do they still approve this "festival" every year????
So what is the predicted dead? 10 again? 15?
Chicago is becoming shoot-out city.
No more coming downtown for me.
Tom Skilling saves the day at humbolt park Puerto Rican fest. rain started right when they closed the fest down. probably saved a life or two.
Hmmm...Edison Park. A very hot day, grad parties on almost every block...not one call of shots fired. No police involvement in family affairs. Must be magic. Parenting: feel the magic!
3 dead, 16 wounded Saturday night into Sunday morning......anyone have the running totals so far?
Its the Itchie and Scracthie Show.
Pretty brutal Sat night. Even with the rain. Gmac! How's that OT initiative working out?
Start holding the beat officers responsible. In the private sector you'd be fired for sub-standard service.
The truth of the matter of this gun violence in Chicago is this. Just in the last five years or so did the media even pay attention to pookie shoots pookie in the leg. Unless there was some truly innocent victim it was not news. The fact that almost every shooting is reported in this modern day media paints more of an ugly picture of our city. If we look back to the most violent time in our city we would look back to the early 90's when there were twice as many homicides as last year. In that time you might hear on the news radio Monday morning about the weekend murders but that was about it. Call it a media frenzy on violence.
Maybe if Rev. Jesse Sr. And Father Mike had held their anti violence march in Hyde Park or Englewood instead of Cal. Park, someone would have actually paid attention to them.
...1 killed & 5 people wounded FRI. to early SAT.,
SAT. afternoon at least 5 people wounded ...
Whew! When I first read this I thought this mayhem took place at the Jarrett wedding, but thank goodness THEY had enough Police protection! Wouldn't want anything happen to them.
Only their constituents got hurt, hope the victims heal in time to vote for these elite again.
Of course being dead doesn't stop anyone from voting in Chicago.
Would anybody believe me if we had 300% more homicides on June 17 this year compared to June 17 last year?
Well, we did.
The city's new priority in the next contract has changed.
Priority #1 is to cancel ALL summer furloughs in the department. The old priority was changing the medical policy.
The city is going to leave the medical alone and possibly offer 2% annual raises if the FOP agrees to NO 6, 7, 8, or 9 furlough selections for ANYONE. This will keep the city from having to hire more officers when all they need (they think) are more officers in the summer.
The city knows it will be hard to get this in arbitration, so they are already planning concessions to get the FOP to agree.

Hey dickhead, it's not private sector, policing is not a cookie making process so you can't compare apples with oranges. Sounds like you have no clue what you are talking about. Sign up for a ride-along and we will show you the reality of chicago.
we keep working for the people who can work but wont..they just keep breeding and breeding on ur tax dollars.

Back in the day, the Soviet Union had law and order, if nothing else. Stalin said "when all else fails, resort to harsh repression".

Oh, you mean directing traffic at the society function behind the Jarrett home? For overtime pay.
Sanctuary Showcase Shoot-a-thon.
The Chicago Shoot-a-thon Showcase is getting much more global press than the NATO showcase that's for sure.
See any tourist with their bags of money getting off the planes yet?
The so-called World Class City is being compared to Afghanistan and people are realizing and reading that since 2001 there have been around 2,000 US troop fatalities in Afghanistan AND over 5,000 homicides in Chicago over the same period.
Third-World Class City Shootings baby!!
What's the top cop have to say?
Well early on Saturday he was preaching from the same hymnal. "It's a pretty good weekend so far.." the quote goes on to say in the Suntimes.
What are we at? 33 shot five dead and 28 wounded?
17 more tonight and we'll be at the magic 50 number again for the third weekend in a row. Eff-it man. Don't get hurt out there.
As fast as you can lock them up or they get shot down the mayor and the president are waving their replacements in from across the border.
Nice culture of death that you created here boys! Bring 'em in.
Millions of Chicago tax dollars wasted on an ineffective political apparatus who's number one mission is to protect it's citizens. Give it up. The city is lost. The police are outnumbered and the politicians policies have failed. FAILED BIG TIME!
You can saturate Englewood, saturate the West side so everyone just jumps on the Red and Green line and heads up to Austin, Humboldt Park, Belmont Craigin, and Rogers Park, etc..
So now what? The Green zone around the Mag mile is shrinking.
Hey...the mayor and the president probably slept like babies though eh? Spending all night drinking and dancing and partying with their families.
Life is good!
Looking forward to hitting the corporations up for some more "campaign finance" dough right after the G20 Mexico trip (wink-wink)
What's the odd's we'll get a "for the children" speech on a Monday photo-op with alligator tears and empty "this is not acceptable" promises AGAIN?
pop=pop=pop=pop... "...oh it's burning, it's burning, it's burning so bad.." the 16 y/o female said before blacking out.

Okay, by your reasoning, you would then be held responsible when your boss has an affair with the receptionist. And, you would be held responsible when some temp embezzles a few thousand dollars. And you would be held responsible when the mailroom lost a package.
Just the same way WE can control the personal decisions of the citizenry. Right?
A lady called the 'D' unit today--said the guy she saw burglarizing her apartment just walked down the street. I advised her to call 911. She said she did that yesterday, and after 3 hours, the police still hadn't shown up.
People calling all day trying to reach detectives handling their case, and I had to tell them they are on a detail and not due back until Tues.
People totally pissed off. Hopefully they'll make some noise to their aldermen, and not bitch at the people who aren't responsible for their lack of police service, i.e., responding officers or detectives.

The first comment is so idiotic I can't even think of a proper response.
TO THE MORON WHO SAID " HOLD THE BEAT OFFICERS ACCOUNTABLE ".
Of course, don't hold the parents, grandparents, fake clergy, community " activists " or the self appointed " leaders " of the community's where this mayhem occurs, once again, place the RESPONSIBILITY & blame on some one else.
Dickhead!
"1821 3 shot"
I'm surprised. That block (1300 Sedgwick) has one of those police cams with the flashing light. I am sure the perp will be caught once the blurry pic is released of a black guy at night.
"Sign up for a ride-along and we will show you the reality of chicago."
I agree you can't blame the beat cop, but for those ride-alongs, can a citizen bring their own weapon?

Ain't NEVER gonna happen. Take that to the bank, hairgel.
And quit believing everything some other douchebag with 5 years on the job tells you.

I bet this non-police, private sector , democratic-voting, libtard would shit in his/her pants if they did a ride-along and went on a "man with a gun/shots fired/person shot" call.
One more thing for idiots of this world, like our mayor, and the others who think a police department should be run like a business in the private sector. Policing is not a business. Public safety is not a money-making enterprise. While I agree that some things within can be run more efficiently, it cannot be run as if it were a private business.

Everyone who has a share in the outcome has some responsible for it. From a citizens perspective it is very frustrating to consistently hear police put so much energy into deflecting blame. While there are a ton of things that a cop can't control there is one thing every cop can control: their attitude.
O.T.
EVERYBODY...please stop using the terms "hairgel", "asshat", "pookie","brothers/sisters in blue" (any evidence of solidarity/unification amongst has been absent for 10-15 yrs.)...they're all overused, not clever, hokey, stupid, and you come off sounding like a douchebag before anyone can get through your post...it's akin to ramming a Lincoln Log down my dickstick having to read these same dumb terms over and over again...and to all the posters in question, that are going to use the same exact terms to bash me for calling them out for being the dummies they are- I posted this from your sister's computer...with my pants off.
Run for your lives the wildings are comming!
Instead of "holding the beat cops responsible", why not place the responsibility where it belongs?
Place the responsibility on the person committing the act!
"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time".
If you do, be ready for the consequences.
