Rats

  • Blame it on the weather. Chicago's rat problem appears to be scurrying right along, thanks to the mild winter.

The number of Chicagoans calling the city to complain about rats is up 28 percent, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Since July, the city's 311 center has received almost 15,900 calls from residents, compared to the 12,000 over the same period last year. Residents can also file rat complaints online at cityofchicago.org and request city crews visit properties that provide conditions susceptible to rats. Crews can then issue "rat stoppage tickets" to owners.
Would it be wrong to hope the plague makes a reappearance?

Rahm: "Its absolutely untrue. We do not have a rat epidemic on our hands. We have a new method of organic waste disposal via eco-conscious small mammal cohabitation. Additionally crime is not running rampant, we have a spasm in the amount of incidents of citizens meeting their untimely deaths at the hands of a proliferation of lead. Nothing to see here, think of the kids."

While they were filming the police searching a south/west side alley for a victim/offender, a big ass, super-sized, Chicago style super rat slowly strolled past the action.

Even the 4-legged rats have no fear in the new Chicago!

Here's mayor-elect Rahm telling reporters he's going to review the rodent control program.

http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Why-Chicagos-Got-a-Pending-Rat-Problem-118852014.html

And now the reporters feed the public the city line that the weather is the cause of the rat explosion and that they are increasing the crews to 17 from 15 even though they were cut from 17 to 15 in the first place.

See how that works? You cut the number, then tell them you're increasing the number on the street. Sound familiar?

I hate to say this, SCC, but the THREE city workers who showed up for the rat's nest outside my building took almost one hour to distribute approximately 2 cups of rat poison in a two square foot area. To say they worked at a snail's pace would be an understatement.

One guy was busy promoting his other line of work and flirting with me, one sat in the city vehicle doing nothing and the third flirted with a second person in my building.

No signs were posted anywhere regarding rat control or proper disposal of dog waste and garbage, even though I had said there was big problem with people not cleaning up after their dogs nearby.

Nor was there was any posted warning to passersby and residents that any form of rat poison had been laid down, and I wondered if this was Rahm Emoneybags trying to hide the fact that there is a huge rat problem here.

Plus, every time it rains, the blue rat poison nuggest flood out onto the sidewalk where small children are always picking things up with their bare hands and where dogs are always licking stuff up with their tongues. I personally have cleaned up dozens of these rat poison pellets off the walk.

The rat control workers claim that it is up to the owner to plug the holes shut, but the owner was out of town. Why can't these strokes fill in the holes while they're here??

Since their worthless visit, a rat entered my apartment and I found another rat right outside my place trying to dig it's way inside.

To me, this "job" they did was so half-assed it wasn't funny. I've never seen such a great example of folks on city payola who appeared intent on maintaining a huge backlog of rat complaints in order to keep their city jobs. They must be related to our rat mayor.

There was some old Irish guy who used to go out and beat the rats to death with his Irish walking cane (I know it has a name, I just can't spell it). Where is that guy? Probably dead.

The rat that was on the TV the other day at the shooting scene was absolutely the biggest rat I've ever seen, and the officers should have been within rights to shoot it. It looked like it just ate a small child.

I grew up in this town and have lived here on and off for the past 40 years and I haven't seen as many rats on the North Side streets ever. They're everywhere.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ( PETA ) has just contacted Tiny Dancer and offered the city a mini surgical kit for city residents to use on the rat problem. In it are micro tweezers and surgical knife to castrate the male rat and thus make it impossible for him to reproduce. This has been offered to the city at no cost, but with the layers of agencies it has to go through, the mayor has decided to put a price tag at $49.95 on each one ordered on 3-1-1. BUT WAIT ! If you order one now - they will send you a 2nd kit for free - plus they will throw in a free pre filled out absentee ballot for the presidential election. All you have to do is sign it and mail it in the postage paid envelope. Operators are are standing by 24/7. Don't wait - call now. Just dial 3-1-1 for this fantastic offer.

I have been in pest control for 20+ years in the city/suburbs and I have never seen so many rats. When I can walk down prairie, wabash or state in the south loop and see rats on a daily basis without the usual overflowing of restaurant dumpsters, I know there is a problem. I have firsthand knowledge that the city of chicago went from buying 400k worth of Maki rodenticide per year just a few years ago to less than 25% of that now. That being said, we are going to have a problem. I will say that leaves a lot less poison to be sold for cash by the city employees but it also means less poison in the rat burrows. Yes...every exterminator doing work in the city has been confronted by a streets/sans employee wanting to sell some Maki pellets. I, for one, am glad to the city doing less; that means more work for me, less wasted tax dollars for the citizens of chicago

try calling 311 for rat control. then don't hold your breath. two months later, they still will not have paid a visit. and your call will mysteriously have disappeared off their list.

"Rat populations exploding in a bunch of cities. The surge comes after the EPA banned many of the more effective rat poisons that until last year were within easy reach of consumers. Coincidence?"

Thanks! I followed up this link --

THE IDIOTS HAVE BANNED D-CON!

Read the f__ing box. It TELLS you to keep it out of reach of kids, household animals, etc. In the past when I used it I always put it against the wall behind a pile of toolboxes, behind the stove, whatever -- where the rodents run, along the baseboard. Nothing else can get at it there if you place it right.

Yeah -- rat explosion because of "idiots might hurt someone." Everyone suffers because of "lowest common denominator."

Also well-known terrible rat problem in Bel-Cragin, all the way down south through Cicero. People living 15-40 in a house, huge amounts of garbage being shoved out into the alley, it is RatFest. I mean, great big foil trays of leftover catered food from big get-togethers, etc., you might as well put out place markers for the rats, little rolled-up dinner napkins for them.

Parts of 025 get 2 trash pickups a week, and I understand that someone at S&S who attributed some of it to illegal-alien overcrowding got fired for saying this.

"I have been in pest control for 20+ years in the city/suburbs and I have never seen so many rats..."

thanks, dear sir or madam, for your kind offer. you'd have a field day here. it'd be fun to see my pro gun control neighbors get their feathers ruffled too.

I'm very discreet. You shall not even notice my presence. Only the sudden decline in your rodent population. Just name a neighborhood. I'll be there like Batman.

1:35am The rat control was handled by other administrations when I said the.city had previously did a.good.job. Rahm has not been in office long enough to "fix" everything that is broken. When callling 311 you are supposed to request a tracking number so you request.for services cannot "disappear" out of the.system.

Do you forward your defenses of Rahm to city hall so they know you're a good little Rahmulan? Fuck you and that nine fingered prick.
