12-Year Old Blasts Home Invader
Oklahoma of course. You wouldn't catch this happening in Illinois:
- Authorities say a 12-year-old girl shot and wounded a man who kicked in the back door of her home. A television station reports the incident happened Wednesday in Bryan County. The girl told police that a stranger rang the doorbell, then went around to the back door and kicked it in.
Police say the girl called her mother, who told her to get the family's gun, hide in a closet and call 911. Authorities say the man came into the room where she was hiding and tried to open the closet door.
Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden says the girl opened fire when the man turned the doorknob.
She only wounded the home invader, but still a deserving nomination for NRA Citizen of the Year there, if there is such an award.

I'm glad this one worked out, but I would be unwilling to leave a loaded weapon at home with a male child of the same age.
Boys being boys and all.
And at the press conference, the sheriff praised her actions. Something else that wouldn't happen in Illinois. Nice job, kiddo.
My compliments to the parents who taught their daughter how to handle herself and handle a gun properly.
The kid must have been terrified, but she behaved like a pro.
God only knows what he would have done to her.
Good !
That'll teach the dirty SOB ! He shoulda stuck with studying to be a brain surgeon.
KUDOS Young Lady !!!!!
"She only wounded the home invader, but still a deserving nomination for NRA Citizen of the Year there, if there is such an award."
The parents need to be recognized as well for instilling proper weapon handling techniques in their child(ren).
Sans the death of the home invader, it's still a feel good story. Hopefully that little girl suffers no lasting consequences from what she's been through.
I think we should give her a Dept Commendation. Hell she shoots better than half the dept.
God bless that little girl. She's tough, smart and courageous. You hate to think what that animal would of done to her. Remember the savage that killied the 14yo girl last year in Indian Head Park during a burglary?
Cam and Co. has "hero of the day" on Patriot radio.........
Good girl for shooting the miscreant. No telling what he might have done to the girl had she not been armed.
Nicly done.
That's a real happy ending.
Not the ones you get in the Chinese massage parlors for $60 and if you want an extra it cost you $40 more.
In Cook County the Victim would get Sued.
Poor guy. How's he going to live down being shot by a 12 year old girl?
All the other homeys in the cell block are going to tease him mercilessly..
This is a real feel good story. Maybe if that started happening around here the Beast may start having second thoughts. Then again if that happened around here the Preckwinlles , Rahm's and Daley types would be ranting and raving about gun control and taxing the bullets the victim used!
That a girl!!!!!!! She did the right thing. I think the mother should be nominated for mother of the year.
I second that nomination.
When will RTC come to Illinois?
In shitcago the girl would have been a rape and / or homicide victim.
Congrads to her, job well done!
Art Linkletter read this and said, "Kids do the darnedest things!"
You see video games are good for something. She's a gamer. HALO II maybe?
Yay! I love self defense stories.
If you teach children about firearms, as has been done since the beginning of this great nation, there will be no problems. They learn safety just as they do with kitchen knives and power tools.
When you demonize firearms and make them scary to children, they will let their curiosity get the better of them and accidents will happen.
Good for those parents to have raised a child properly, knowing how to defend herself from a savage predator. We salute you.
Anita is offering the offender legal help in suing the gun manufacturer.
Doorknob turning.
POP.
Doorknob not turning.
It's a "game-changer," huh?

Amen. Wonderful, wonderful -- and with parents like that, and with the sheriff supporting her, I think she'll be just fine.
I suggest some of you read the linked story before commenting.
That was the FIRST time the girl ever fired a weapon.
I would not want to be on the receiving end of her fire after she gets some practice. I think I'll avoid breaking into houses. That should help.
Don't even want to imagine what the piece of shit would have done to her if she hadn't blasted him. Give her an award and a free trip to Disneyland!
You go girl!
If that little girl in Indian Head Park had a gun, she might not have been terrorized, beaten, raped and murdered by that POS who texted and called her parents from her cell phone.
Too bad, Quinn, Preckwinkle, et al won't let it happen becuase they pander to the types who would rather see a raped kid than a dead rapist and murderer.
to 12.28am...not only wouldn't that happen in IL, the SAO and locals would charge the parents for not locking up the weapon.
In Chicago DCFS would charge the parents for leaving the child home alone, charge them for leaving a loaded gun in the presence of a 12 year old, and Lovey and Lovey would be representing the offender for his unreasonable injuries.
Furthermore, the gun would be taken by the area gun team, 12 officers on the gun log and the child would be in DCFS custody until the parents admitted that they were wrong for their actions.
Mad props to this girl. But anyone notice this? "Police say the girl called her mother, who told her to get the family's gun, hide in a closet and call 911."
I mean, that's a lot to do, shouldn't mom have called 911? Just strikes me a little off. Perhaps it's the reporting. I'll go with that.
If this happened in Illinois, the girl would be facing attempted murder charges and the rest of her life in prison, as well as a lawsuit from the offender.
love that shit
Poor little thing had to be so scared! Thank God she knew what to do. I can not even imagine what would have happened to her had she not had that gun!!!! Good Job!!!
Seems that chalkie is so busy, that he's outsourcing some of his work...way to go.
They valuable lesson to be learned from this incident is the choice to be a victim or SURVIVOR rests in your hands, holding a firearm of your choice.
As has been posted before " when seconds count, Police are minutes away ", not by their choice mind you.

Yeah, it's a lot to do. And maybe mom ALSO called 911, but just WHO do you think can tell the dispatcher what's going on in real time, Yoda? Mommy, who is miles away, or the person who's in the house with the offender?
In this shitsville it would read Home Invader Blasts 12 Year Old .
Great job, kid!! I only wish Kelli O'Laughlin had the same chance to defend herself.
