- How would you like to have a piece of property handed to you for free and then turn around and sell it for $100,000? Sound too good to be true? Not if you're one of Cook County's most powerful Democratic politicians.
FOX 32 and the Better Government Association have uncovered a complex series of property transactions involving Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown that's raising some tough questions for the veteran politician.
What makes all of this even more curious is that the property was handed over for free by one of Clerk Brown's top campaign contributors, who has family working in the clerk's office.
That makes it "curious?"

One month later, Dorothy's husband puts Dorothy's name on the property title. Two months later, Dorothy and husband transfer the property to their very own for-profit company "Sankofa", which is an African proverb that means, "reach back and get it."

Ahh, how quaint. The very idea that local civic, watchdog, and journ-O-list minions of Chicago's highest ranking Racketeer-in-Chief, now suddenly want to practice "dirt-digging" and expose corruption in city politics...
A certain convicted fraudulent proprietor and so-called influence peddler (Rezko) continued doing these types of deals with Barack Obama to the tune of several hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Obama lied to the Tribune every step of the way once they started asking questions.
Did he contribute to your campaigns? First he said no, then when proven otherwise he stopped answering questions.
Rezko contributed 200,000 at last count leading up to the 2008 campaign.
Rezko also sold Obama that Hyde Park Mansion and the adjoining lot at a loss so the Obamas could net a profit at signing.
Obama claimed that, in and of itself, there was no reciprocation of political influence. That is, until the tribune uncovered the letter Senator Obama wrote on behalf of Rezko to secure subsidies for a low income development deal. This netted Rezko millions, which resulted in default and legal action for slumlord property management activities brought against him in multiple class action lawsuits, ironically, by people who probably voted for Obama anyway.
Obama the whole time claimed he was unaware the extent of federal inquiries mounting in Rezkos direction, but again, the Tribune detailed the more accurate timeline to reflect Obama was, and is, as full of shit as the rest of them in Chicago...
The Better Government Assoc, by the way, was run by the same guy who left to work for Pat Quinn as his spokesman when Quinn took the Gov. spot after Blagojevich's impeachment and indictment.

Axelrod and Claypool left their journalist careers to start what became a very lucrative political campaign consulting firm, made all the more successful, in no small part, to their ability to manipulate and mold the media's message.
The B.G.A is a shill operation. If they set their sights on someone it's meant to run a triangulation on a target that has been deemed no longer of use.

This is not an unusual technique to launder "campaign contributions". If I was an investigative reporter, I would run the names of the political mucky-mucks and their immediate families through the variety of real estate tracking sites and databases. That'll give you a start.

They and some other groups are going to file some paper work concerning the use of contact cards by our department. To all of you hard chargers, this is only the beginning. Some of us old timers told you; answer your jobs and be on patrol. But some people simply don't listen.
This is why I love blogs such as your SCC. Blogs and independent journalists do a better job than the so called professional journalists. The professional journalists just repeat what is handed to them.

OT: Apparently our President, Mike Shields, is so intent on keeping Bill Dougherty out of the FOP office that he is refusing to head to Springfield for tomorrow's pension legislation. Several board members advised him to postpone tomorrow's board meeting and go down to represent us. The meeting is still scheduled for 10am tomorrow.
Hopefully, some people show up to ask why he completely disregarded a vote by the members at the last meeting to reinstate Dougherty and why he isn't in Springfield.
This guy has an agenda that is all his and it doesn't include any of us. He needs to go.

Don't put Patrick Fitzgerald on a white horse. He stopped going up the ladder in his indictments at Al Sanchez. He let Victor Reyes and his wife, Tim Degnan, Jerry Joyce, and little Richie Daley off.

This bill does not directly affect CPD, but it is important to fight it. This is why we hired Donahue and we already have a part time lobbyist who lives in Springfield.
Madigan has a bullet proof majority in the house. The senate is iffy. If it goes to the senate early Tuesday they may vote on it. Wednesday morning might be when they vote on it also. Don't wait for a bus. A lot of retirees are already driving there on their own. Did you make the calls to your rep's Chicago and Springfield office? Start calling your State Senator that is more important than you trying to make some points for your election team or getting a free box lunch on the bus.
PS you should be getting email updates from WE ARE ONE. You have been asked numerous times on the FOP web site over the last two and a half years to sign up.
And the busses only went down to Springfield under Shields. Donahue never wanted us down there.

Let's not forget about the model town home at Belmont and the River that Louie C...sorry Louis Gutierrez was sold AT COST. The developer financed the deal and there was never a record that Louie made any payments. Once the development was finished and the price of the townhouse tripled, he sold it and pocketed the profit. Speaking of Crook County. How does Sheriff Tom dart justify NOT hiring a Deputy Sheriff in eight years when his budget just increased from 404 million to 457 million from 2011-2013. That is half of the sotry. They later said the property needed a lot of work done and that is why they gave it away. Dorothy Brown has the object of much criticism that she has destroyed the Clerk's office and that files were missing and everything is a mess only to find that one employee, a female was stealing files, taking them home and shredding them. Now, every few months, Ms Brown comes under attack. Go after somebody else, like Danny Davis, Bobby Rush, Michael Chandler..

Speaking of Crook County. How does Sheriff Tom dart justify NOT hiring a Deputy Sheriff in eight years when his budget just increased from 404 million to 457 million from 2011-2013. Where is this money going? Why doesn't the media ask why he has 17 lawyers and 5 Chiefs of Staff on his payroll? Dorthy Brown has always been a crook but the media seems to overlook tens of millions of dollars being misappropriated. Not a big fan of dart, but this is not true. I can tell you that I was at a sheriff's academy graduation 18 months ago. I had a relative in the class. There were about 100 graduates. And more in the academy at that time.

We just got a new FBI Director in Chicago as well as a US Attorney for the Northern District.
Unless they are getting investigation/prosecution direction from DC, they'll hopefully have their hands full.

It is not FBI Director in Chicago, it is SAIC, Special Agent In Charge. There is only one Director of the FBI and he is in DC.
And take this to the bank, they both have marching orders from Durbin and others to concentrate their efforts on gang violence in Chicago, NOT political corruption. The boys have had enough embarrassment. There is money to be made. Leave them to do the manly work of stealing.
