239 Tows
The Winter Parking Ban Extravaganza started and finished last night, teaching expensive lessons to almost 240 unfortunate souls:
- Drivers flocked to city tow yards Sunday, shaking their heads — and fists — in exasperation after the first day of Chicago’s overnight winter parking ban once again managed to ensnare hundreds of vehicles.
In all, 239 vehicles had been hauled away on the first day. The annual ban, meant to make it easier to plow and salt snow-covered roads, is in place from Dec. 1 to April 1 between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
The usual litany of complaints can be read at the link. The biggest complaint, as usual, is "no snow." But Rahm thanks you all for the money regardless.

Hey quit bitching. The law is the law. Follow the law and your ride won't be towed. Don't blame da mayor.
it's now everyman for themselves. law and order... ha. wut.
parking ordinance violations for snow removal when there's no snow.
parking ordinance violations for abandoned vehicles when they know damn well they are not abandoned
speeding tickets for violating a; 'when children are present school zone speed limit' and there's no children present.
hey 'it's policy' right.
check ammoland.com. all around the usa they are confiscating lawfully owned guns and telling the owners that it's just 'policy' the owner can go to court and try to get them back -- spending more in time and money than the guns are worth and if the owners do it anyway just for principle it's a two, three years or more process.
criminal. corruption. a bunch of sell outs
Ive seen them hooking at 0645. In the old days, back when we were actually the Police, I'd have locked up the driver.
Now? Who gives a fuck? I'd end up catching time for it.
Want an idea of just how much corporate welfare tax giveaways the state of Illinois hands out? Here's a brief 2009 summary of just how much, as provided by the STATE OF ILLINOIS THEMSELVES....hint, in 2008 mind you, corporatist thieves in the general assembly gave away 1.18 BILLION DOLLARS OF TAXES to these companies:
http://cgfa.ilga.gov/Upload/2009JULYILLINOISTAXINCENTIVES.pdf
This was just 2008 ALONE!
Imagine just how much this figure has grown in the last few years..... how many billions of dollars our state is NOT collecting in taxes while at the same time trying to destroy constitutionally protected state obligations to it's employees.
And before any idiot attempts the sales pitch of "job creators" learn this fact:
Employers open up shop where they can have access to transportation and to employees, PERIOD.
Corporations don't move to bumfuck Idaho and open a 1000 man executive office when there aren't any qualified employees to be had, nor does any corporation move an entire 1000 man operation to another state and is able to take anywhere NEAR their entire compliment of employees with them.
And before you cry how there's other big cities to move to comparable to Chicago, those cities and states charge taxes also because they're all hurting.
The game of threats can't be kept up forever, and taxing the citizens and fucking public employees to pay for corporate greed is gonna end. How soon is up to you.
$$$ Happy Holidays from Raccoon Eyes.
Personally I think the Parking Ban is STOO-PID(tm) IF there's no snow, or an inch or less. But the Law is the Law and the signs are pretty easy to read, they are in basic English.
Though in a couple years I can see that being challenged in court as being 'Racist' (NOT sarcasm) as they're 'unfair' to our Non-English Speaking 'citizens'. So the question is -- for now anyway, do the scofflaw whiners suffer from some Reading Comprehension Deficit?
Or do they think the signs were put up on all the streets just to keep workers at Streets and San busy, and maybe for once 'earn' that paycheck? Though if you grew up in Chicago that would make sense and could be a viable defense in court.
--->'Yer Honor, c'mon. Streets an San put 'em all up. I taught dey was just kiddin round an din't mean nuttin.' Judge, 'Not Guilty'.<---
:-)
Simple. Follow the law in parking your car and you won't have to worry about it being towed.
How bout them Bears. They ripped and clawed the Vikings to pieces. Through subterfuge, hookery and crookery the Viks squeaked out a win in overtime. Very unfair. All hale the mighty Bears, for the moral victory was theirs.
Jane started this program. The others made it an art form.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Tow the liberal hipster democRATs loser vehicles. Why would anyone come to this shitty in the first place ..its for the children

So back in the day, when you were "actually the police", you'd lock up tow drivers for doing their job... while they were well within (15 minutes if my math is correct) the legal timeframe as designated by the parking ban ordinance?
So I guess harassing working guys doing their job - illegally detaining/arresting them at times by your account - is what the 'real police' did back in the day, huh?
I know you never worked in the ghetto with that mentality because you're the typical hard-on, afraid of his own shadow and incapable of anything police-y past hassling legit/semi-legit people. No doubt you'd be calling 10-1s on a regular basis getting your ass tore off in 003 with your attitude.
And if you pulled that shit on my watch, I'd have made sure you caught time for it. You're a pathetic bastard and epitomize what's wrong with the job. Now go cry to anyone who'll listen why you deserve an inflated raise on your next contract.
So glad I retired when I did.

And what a stupid law it is! No snow predicted for the foreseeable future, but move those cars, people.
And, I suppose the City has to reimburse LAZ for every meter that isn't generating income every night, too?
We all know that the tow "operators" (and smooth ones at that!) started hooking up those soon to be illegally parked cars, just a little early, in order to get a head start, since there were so many of them. Glad they took my advice and started a little early, and worked a little late on the other end, to make Rahm a little more cash for his Christmas wish list.

Screw them!
Yes I do blame the present and former mayors because this was done for greed not for public safety. This is done out of a dark mean streak in Chicago that I have always been ashamed to have been any part of and always did my best to try and protect citizens from that greed. If any white shirt said anything my reply was I was getting people to comply with the law.
And another thing....
Every year when we get the first good snowfall some rookie goes out and writes a bunch of parkers where the sign say "No Parking After 2" Snowfall". There has to be a declaration by Operations Command for that to be enacted and usually tow trucks relocate cars during the cleanup and no tickets are issued.
But in these Rahm greedy days who knows.

The last time I checked, we are still the police champ! If you are that scared then perhaps you would be better of as a watchman for a warehouse.

Who are you kidding? In the old days, Streets and San would have been hooking those cars (City employees). You wouldn't have locked anyone up. Go change your Depends, and start taking some Alzheimer's medicine, because you're losing it.
Cash cow for the city

Locked the driver up for What?
Whether or not you agree with it...if the Posted ban is in effect you are not allowed Per Policy to Interfere with anyone that is Doing City Business unless you observe an Actual Misdemeanor or Felony or Traffic violation being committed by that individual.
Begging SCC's pardon for this...but I'm going to quote a few examples:
Rule 22
Rule 2
Rule 8
"it's now everyman for themselves. law and order... ha. wut.
parking ordinance violations for snow removal when there's no snow.
parking ordinance violations for abandoned vehicles when they know damn well they are not abandoned
speeding tickets for violating a; 'when children are present school zone speed limit' and there's no children present.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
Hey FUCK the mayor1
Any tow completed under this ban ought to be considered auto. Theft!

I,would be willing to wager, there is a ton of people, glad you retired !
Salty Ass.........
I don't really think it's such a stupid law. The idea is not to have cars there when the snow hits at some announced or unannounced time, not to have bozos parking their cars in the snow routes and then counting on them to get the cars out of there when the snow does hit. Come on, put on your thinking caps. The ban is good for all of us and it won't work unless it is enforced.

Whats the sign say stupid?
And why do I have to remind you? People actually do come out and get their cars between 0646 to 0700 you fucking idiot.
