I know it's been a long time coming but I have been so busy doing my male police bonding by growing a mustache for Movember with my guys. We all made a secret pact to grow mustaches to look just like our past XO MR. It has been quite an experience! I think the winner though might be a girl/guy... Boystown is so strange to work in... Sometimes even I don't know if I should sit or stand while peeing.... Anyhoo, I don't want to go into a long diatribe yet... OT- How the hell does a city give a test at two different times for the police entrance exam. My daughter has the 4:30 pm testing time which not only screws with her entire schedule for the day, now she can't go to her schools graduation.
She already tried to change the time with the city, but you obviously know the answer to that request. You do it for one person, then you have to do it for all.

Spent my last three years on the job having a three day weekend each and every one. #2 on the seniority list when I retired over eight years ago. Gotta admit, there was better man power then that allowed me that freedom. But, back to the original poster: Your'e doing the right thing and I'm glad for you, but, you know what? There is something wrong with your thinking. Instead of being happy and thankful you were able to get the whole Thanksgiving weekend off, you have to leave this comment instead of feeling compassion for those that have to work and remembering the Thanksgivings you had to work because you didnt have the seniority.
Why be thankful and appreciative of being off?instead you choose it as an opportunity to dig your fellow workers

Sergeants got an email from the sergeants association that the contract passed city council. Great. Now the Department is flowing the new DSS order where sergeants will take on more responsibilities. Was this discussed during negotiations? Nowhere in the arbitration decision does it mention Sergeants taking on more responsibilities.
It seems the city bargained in bad faith and pulled a fast one over the sergeants association. And unions are to trust the city? We are to trust the Superintendent? I find the timing ironic that just days after the contract was passed the city, Superintendent changes the role of the sergeant. Pathetic. Sergeants association better fight the heck of of this.

Here in 017 the 3rd Watch we were told dinner for everyone had been arranged for by one of the guys on the watch. Well, it turned out to be turkey dinner with all the fixings from Ann Sather. Told us at dinner not only did Ald Tunney make the dinner himself, he refused payment since it was for POs. Nice gesture and the food was great.
OT- How the hell does a city give a test at two different times for the police entrance exam. My daughter has the 4:30 pm testing time which not only screws with her entire schedule for the day, now she can't go to her schools graduation.

News flash you scared to work a beat car hardons-those people who work inside at the desk and in lock-up deserve a day to chill every so often and a holiday like turkey day is one of them. Answered up for a transport for two of 024 finest tac boys once. About half way there one of the two gets on the air screaming "where's our transport!" Me and my partner, after hearing that think the scene is going to shit so we hit the lights and sirens. When we get on the scene, we see the 2 tac wonders standing there with their offender. We ask what the urgency was and one tac guy looks at us and tells us "sorry, but my partner is hungry and he thought you guys were taking too long to get here."
Take the offender into 024 and proceeded to wait for 30 minutes. Just as we were about to call them, they stroll in with their lunch. They had made a detour and got their lunch before coming in .

Before I retired a few ago in the D unit. Guys with shit yoj and wanted to be with the kids and family, us old timer' took their spot, even if the day was our RDO.
We signned up to be the police and help each other. Sorrry to say those days are gone. The asshole wo used his senority and bragged, stfu. You are a mutt and probadly lives in a gin mill off duty hours.

Agree and enjoyed it. 017 isn't in Tunney's ward but sounded like he's friends for a long time with the sister of the PO who arranged for the lunch. She and her daughter brought and served it. You'd never know the PO has clout in the family. He's real police and a good guy.

No, this one is a real stretch, thus proving this is just a cash-grab. Along the cemetery walls, under the el structure, there's Challenger park. It's the narrow strip of land that runs between the cemetery and the street. If it's 40 feet wide, I'd be surprised. You can't even see it if you are on Irving Park Rd unless you're under the el structure. You might see a person walking a dog over there, but it's not like there's a field house or bustling park activity.

Then quite naturally the prisoner gets dope sick and starts puking his guts out,and the next thing you know some other copper has to take the jagoff to the hospital and sit on him for hours while you and your jagoff partner sit back and enjoy your last 5 hours hiding!

Before I retired a few ago in the D unit. Guys with shit yoj and wanted to be with the kids and family, us old timer' took their spot, even if the day was our RDO.
We signned up to be the police and help each other. Sorrry to say those days are gone. The asshole wo used his senority and bragged, stfu. You are a mutt and probadly lives in a gin mill off duty hours.
You hair gels better wise up, watch out for you brothers and bosses and all will work out. No one like the cry babies and path me on the back copper.

Must be a lot of low seniority new guys on the job reading this blog. It's called police humor, something you new guys don't get. We'll suck it up new guy! I can't tell you how may times I lost my 3 day weekend when I was a ppo. Even after probation you get the call your dog changed, and your were staying on midnight s ,back when we rotated, but you new pu**ies wouldn't know about that now would you. Changing watches every 28 days, changing your dog every 28 days, but you all are offended because some copper busts your balls by saying he is enjoying thanksgiving off. There is something wrong with your thinking. Instead of being happy and thankful you were able to get the whole Thanksgiving weekend off, you have to leave this comment instead of feeling compassion for those that have to work and remembering the Thanksgivings you had to work because you didnt have the seniority.

do you wanna know why??? because I love my family. I love my time off. I love taking trips. I love travelling with my family. I love hanging out with other people who are not cops. I dont like most cops. I get along with my coworkers but thats all they are. Im only a police officer because its good money and good benefits. the tactical hardons and ultra go getter police can have it... Ive been there done that. I did my tact, gang sos etc. In general, I dont like coppers, your ok to work with but otherwise 85 percent of you are puds.. not all, but most. so yes, too bad for you having to work I will be home with the family enjoying our time together.. ahhh, retirement is so damn close I can smell it. then, its off to siesta key florida. Later strokes!!!!!!

That's it? It's the best you can muster? Nah, we are a very close and loving family. I'm stuck with them and they are stuck with me, we have a lot of fun! But, haters gonna hate. I could be one of the only coppers out of the rest of you bitter hacks who do nothing but complain at work about anything and everything who can truly say, life is good. I work my eat car on days, I retire in a few months and will have a blast with the wife in Florida and enjoy our kids and grand kids... My bags are packed... Enjoy this job and the hardo's that come with it... To the truly good and normal people on this job who don't act like this job is life lay low, get out alive and get to that retirement. For the bitter toolbags and "lifers" on the job get a life it's not all worth it.
