Paying for Parking?

Word is that gates are being installed at 26/Cal so you have to pay for parking.

Any word on off-duty parking? On duty? Jurors? County is only paying jurors like $20 (give or take) for service - now they're going to take part of even that paltry sum?

3 dollars for anybody parking in the lot. Does not matter if u have a squad car or not. If u get in the lot to park you pay. It's for both the lot and garage.

If they charge any police officer on or off duty to park being notified to appear in the prosecution of criminals related to their duties, then the court system will finally be completely broken. No one will go anymore. Maybe that's their motive.

SSC you are wrong. Cook County only pays jurors $17.00 for a day's servitude.

Police will not have to pay. They are making the ASAs pay but not the defense attorneys...

Yes, you are paid for jury service. You will receive $17.20 per day for each day that you serve."

They should make county workers and city workers pay at least 30 dollars a day for parking. We are hurting for money, so take as much as you can form us as soon as you can.

No more arrests! I refuse to go to court at 26 and Cal. Just like Juvy! I aint going! I would rather let them go free before one penny out of my pocket!

Last I knew it was $17.40 for jurors. So if you have to go to the Daley Center and park in a garage, it costs you money to go to jury duty.

It'll cost $27 and the proceeds will go to the non- existent "For the safety of the children's fund".

What I heard was P.O.'s, jurors, and public defenders don't have to pay, ASA's and shitbirds have to pay. And they can't discriminate as to who enters the lot because it is now public. Public defenders get a pass cause they have a union unlike the ASA's. So don't leave anything valuable in your car and keep your guard up even more than usual. A brilliant idea to steal meter money by Preckwinkle.

Tommy Dart needs more money for his precious inmates. Pony up.

I never go to 26th St. anyway.

Number one---it is on the south side and I am afraid of the south
side.

Number two---I would have to make a meaningful arrest and that would cut into my shopping time.

Now, kees me you fool!!!!

Going to court is part of our job. Or am I missing something? So we need to pay for it? This sounds like to me classical liberal social engineering. The intended end result is that we police officers get sickened by this move and thus we stop locking up black and brown folks (as Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle believes).

That my friends is the actual intended result. The County then saves millions and millions of dollars if less offenders are locked up. Plus the politicians get to score political points. In the end, the honest hard working citizen loses. Case in point, two weeks ago, a decent hard working African American man in his late fifties was shot and killed in the early morning. He was on his way to work at the UPS plant on Jefferson Street. I suppose looking out for the people that get up in the morning and break their backs in not a concern to these politicians.

It's currently in arbitration with the unions. She foolishly rolled back the penny and when the budget fell short she had to find a way to make up the difference (proposed rate would be $4.75 with no in/out privileges). Its going to be a mess! At first it was rumored that leo's, jurors, and witnesses would be exempt from paying. Sheriff's got pissed (seeing that they are leo's) as well as other locals and filed a grievance. And jurors don't even get $20/day.

I simply won't go to court. They thought about doing this a few years ago at other court houses and decided against it. There's no place to park now, I'll just tell the ASA to have the Sheriff come get me. I have the time and age and I refuse to pay to park.

No one will go anymore? Yea right.
Put that on your To From when you get written up for not appearing. Explain to the judge that you ignored the subpoena because you had to pay for parking, That will work. Years ago we had to pay when you went to traffic court at the garage across the street and pay. Better than 1 day in lieu.
I have to laugh, no one will go anymore

I heard No free parking at Daley Center or Superior Street.
Public transit is always an option for court.
In New York we pay to park when we go to court in most areas. Much more money in NYC to park then Chicago.
So if you drive, pay to park. You arrest and you have to go to court. The public pays !

Listen up you Chicago finniest.

This is how it’s going to work.

My judges are going let my voters go. Mind you, it may be for a price. But they're going to let them go.
1. Court fee.
2. $$ to get out jail. Or
3. Sign up for my good friend and neighbor’s health care plan.

And You, you are going to pay for parking.

Fight it as you may but unless you stop I’m going to get mine. And well even if you do stop locking up my voters I win.

Now, mommas got a go and freshen up. My Two o’clock shadow is showing.

Oh and if any you judges start thinking for yourselves just remember your benefits.

I hear coppers at work saying they aren't going to court anymore because of this. I call bullshit. There's so many that couldn't find 26/Cal, it's amazing. They're afraid of locking anyone up because they can't testify in court. They can't testify because they aren't confident in their paper. They're not confident in their paper because they avoid doing paper and find every unavoidable tvb or personal when they hear a CSA or DUI coming out.

POs are considered states witness and shouldn't have to pay.

You're going to what to justify your bloated 76k a year PO payroll?

Write ANOV's and Parkers and Contact Cards with every ANOV. Write Movers and you can still park for free on Lake Street or Garvey Ct.

I don't want to pay to park, but I think we've been dodging this bullet for years. Work downtown? Pay to park or take the train. Work at a hospital? Pay to park. Free parking is a nice perk to get, but all good things come to an end. It would be easier to swallow if the money wasn't going to get pissed away on pork projects, or to provide free shit for lazy fucking county residents.
