VRI Expanding - The First Hint

  • U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder promised extra federal cash to fight the gun violence plaguing Chicago’s streets Monday, but offered no specifics about how much.

Holder — speaking at a public court ceremony to welcome incoming U.S. Attorney Zach Fardon — said the Justice Department would take “significant steps” including funding extra Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents who will focus on cutting off the supply of “illegal guns that too often wind up in the hands of gang members and other violent criminals.”
A plan to go after illegal guns? That's new.

No specifics offered by Holder? That's par for the course.
  • U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., quickly claimed credit for the cash injection, which will come from funds seized from drug dealers as a way to get around the federal sequester.

But like Holder, neither Kirk nor U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. — both among a crowd of political and legal big cheeses attending Monday’s ceremony — could say how much cash or how many agents were at stake.

And law enforcement officials familiar with ATF staffing levels in Chicago further dampened expectations when they told the Sun-Times they don’t know of any plans to hire a lot of new ATF agents here.
That means OT for someone. A lot of someones.

And like clockwork the chumps who can't see the forest for the trees will jump thru hoops in droves, bringing in revenue-based activity to work this shit.

All while their neighborhoods see less and less police.

While the hiring of coppers doesn't even come close to the amount retiring.

While they complain that they can't get time due.

While their pension is getting chopped right under their noses (you fools didn't think these VRI announcements and the 03 December pension date in Springfield hitting the media simultaneously was coincidence, do you)?

You clowns working VRI are the absolute biggest detriment to a successful contract. You are slaves. If all you folks that can't seem to live on 75K+ year would take just one month off VRI during a hot Summer, you'd bring the mayor and city to its knees at that negotiation table.

How about a mission we call "Fast and Delirious"? We give high powered illegal guns to the gangs and let them shoot each other in their drug induced machismo rages.

That should work, right? What could go wrong?

Why even both policing the non tax paying ghetto? Let the link card holders shoot it out. Why should responsible taxpayers foot the bill because of savage ghetto behavior? This is another reason why people are moving OUT of chicago .

That means more OT for me!

Say what you will, but this past year was the greatest, most profitable year in the history of the CPD.

There has never been a better time to be a PO. And today we get news that more money is coming.

This job is awesome. Thank you to Eric Holder for my early Christmas present.

About 2 years ago I posted that then Mayor Daley wanted to decrease CPD personnel through attrition. A neighborhood friend who worked at city hall told me about it. The mayor wanted staffing levels similar to LAPD being 9000 give or take. Well its coming here folks. Less personnel equates to less expenditures for the city. It's that simple.

We had rahm and co. by the throat when the violence took off and they had to resort to vri to quell it. We could of had lots more officers by now on the job paying into OUR pension fund but all of the shortsighted chumps- with NO LEADERSHIP from our unions- jumped on the vri money which really undermines our future financial security and now rahm and co. will slay us all. You will see and be sure to thank all the assholes who sold our financial security for a few dollars today.

When I first got on the job we use to work a bank or a store as security for 15-20 bucks an hour. How can any of you no time on the job people complain about time and a half? I understand you can't get it yet but when you have a few years on the job you will get it and be working it also. Your argument about doing work to get the numbers to work VRI is bullshit you should be doing that little amount anyway and more. If you claim it will hurt our pension then you should stop voteing in these democrares they are bleeding it anyway and will continue to fuck with it. And you also claim not enough P.O.'s on the home front then bid to the home front and drive through when not on assignment.

That is all

NO DUMMY.

Many of us are smart enough to MAX OUT in our 457 plans AND IRAs to protect us in retirement.

If the FOP had the balls to say SYOP doing VRI I would then stop doing it. Until then, we have the green light to take the cash.

Sounds like a hair gel two year wonder who doesn't have the seniority to get VRI. But maybe you are a veteran?!? Well from my position with 27 years I think VRI is a good thing for us. When in past years we got straight time for CHA & CTA many screamed how foolish we were to work for straight time. Other departments around the country got time and a half for such work and were covered in case of injuries or civil actions just as if they were working a regular tour.

Well now we are getting time and a half for our labor and seniority stands for something. If you don't like it then don't work it. I'm working a union job for union overtime for as long as it lasts.

You better sock it away and not touch it til you're 65, because you won't have a pension by then.

Don't dump everything into your 457 plan....have several "buckets" of retirement income. 457. Pension if there's anything left and there are other options too. Email. Chicagosfinestfinancial@gmail.com for a free consultation

FBI hasn't hired in two years. It's doubtful that ATF will either.
