Sgt. Test Rumor
This would be laughable if true:
- Passing score for part I of Sgt exam will be 43%.
Good luck to those who took the exam. (sarcasm)
Inside 35th street
We'd find this humorous...if it wasn't a fact that in the last Lieutenants exam, 100% of the participants passed Part One. And we will guarantee that whomever scored dead last on that test, got promoted within the first two classes.
It's the Chicago way.

Said it before and I'll say it again: the minimum passing score will be the score of the lowest mayortorious candidate.
It's ALL legit.....
The blind proctor scored a 48%
Wow if that's true I failed according to that answer key. I didn't study but according to the key I got 41. That kinda sucks, makes me wish I actually read a few orders.... Oh well, looks like 011 Tac for the rest of my career, hooahh!

025 watch bids
Good riddance to all the cry babies on 3rd watch that got dumped to midnights. Put in your time. Probably shoulda written a few extra contact cards.
that girl on the rapids is a good example of how you get rewarded by keeping your activity up.
That's the lowest score of the most clouted guy who took the test. Bet on it.
43% is passing in bizarro world....The system is about to implode and the Socialist-Democratic handlers will be shown the walls of Hell by Satan upon their demise.
43% out of 100 = Even MORONS pass. The multiple choice test was just a meaningless part of their dog and pony show.
Beware of the subjective component(s) for the "clout babies".
EXAMSCAM II
Outrageous, totally unfair, and just sad.
With a score that low, even I passed the first part...and I didn't even take the test!!!!
I need to find out who was at the 43% mark and start kissing that ass. Because that is one MFing heavy phone call to bring the passing score down to such a ridiculous level just so that guy can get the merit promotion. Future sup there. What a joke we have become.
Well they cant take a chance their kids wont get made just due to a stupid test. Especially if nobody has the answers to it beforehand.
Honestly Ive never seen a legit test in the last 30 years. Least of all in the academy.
Only the bestest gets promoted in da CPD.
Here's the latest SCC: looks like after the new DSS Order is penned their will be a re structure of lt's as they are allocated to watch operations. Looks like there will only be 1 lt per watch and the rest will be assigned to a " pool"of available lt's, the ones who are bid, to their respective areas and then assigned on a weekly basis based on need. For example a lt. in a district in Area Central whom is not a district bid lt. would be reassigned to the area lt's "pool" and then assigned to various districts w/in that area where a field lt. is needed. See without a lt. as the WC or DSS lt.s are not a high priority position within or on the watch. I guess it's the NY way. So looks like only 1 lt. Per watch in the future. Anyone care to expand on this???
A lot of guys/gals on this job could possibly benefit from having the passing score be so low. Some people are not good test takers or don't know how to study for a test like this. We all know individuals on this job who should be sergeants or above who lack the education or know the right people. This may allow some of us without any clout to slip through the cracks and possibly make a difference on this department one day. The nuns in grammar school always told me I was a daydreamer.
I would love to see the test scores of our merit exempts. My guess is that they weren't very high.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Sorry SCC, You are mistaken on that last LT Test. On Part 1 high score was 236, pass/fail was 150. I know of at least 2 sergeants that did not move on to Part 2, the (meritorious list). From what I can tell I/O Solutions has a completely different test format compared to past tests. Good Luck Everyone. Sgt J.
Anthony Carothers, Erroll Davis, Barbara West, and Linda Florez were in the first class. If you can find the list, see who is still in district law enforcement and those would be your legit Lt's for sure. Some of the others may have been also but still had clout. The Chitghetto way.
Why did I even study? I could have passed not cracking one order.
Just look for the person that is not paying attention and arrives late everyday. Dead giveaway.
Scores of 43% will allow unqualified supervisors to become merit lt. Captain and exempt command staff within 10 years.
This ensures that even the dumbest box of rocks meritorious candidates move on to the extremely fixed phase 2.
Business as usual.
Woohoo I passed, now my uncle can make me a Sgt. I'm gonna be set, prob get a tact team or something I dont know yet.
78 people are getting promoted off the old list. Congratulations to those who made it.
Great!
What a joke if true....more clouted dumbfucks moving up the food chain. The hack with that lowest passing score will be an exempt in no time.
I believe it is a state law that meritorious promotes must pass some qualifying test. Part one would in fact satisfy that need!
why not just pass everyone just like the shitcago public school system

3yr wonder KC?
How bout all dem suckas who spent $900 on Bernstein and hours and hours studying. Waaaaaaaaaaah
43%? Sister Mary Terese would be upset over that curve! And to think who ever got that score would be a supervisor. Heavens preserve us. Detention for everyone!
Rumor has it all meritorious candidates earned a 43% for signing in and completing the test. Wow what a coincidence!
TALK ABOUT LOWERING THE BAR...
If a chimpanzee were to take a multiple-choice (4) test and filled in all the bubbles randomly, the chimp would score about 25%.
The Chicago Police Department: the Relentless Pursuit of MEDIOCRITY!
it's legit, baby.....so many of each, have to make it....so that, when they take the picture, "everyone" is in the photo....competence, integrity, intelligence, experience....what does the photo look like?
In academic circles it's called the Carothers Factor.
Chicago Police department promotional system is a disgrace.
Recruits required to have 2 years of college and to become a cpd stupidvisor a passing GRADE BELOW 70 IS PASSING TO PROMOTE
the merit minority and politically connected .
Many of our command staff from captain to commander have been merit all the way .
Whats up with 025? If u don't have enough time for 3rd watch and get dumped to midnights thats pretty much the norm in any other district in the city. Management is for guys with phone calls or the officers that come in with necessary activity. Unfortunately we have guys that wont do the bare minimum. Its not even older guys. Mostly guys with less than ten years on, that think everything is owed to them.
That's why I refused to take it. I'll just sit back and listen to all of those "sarges" on the radio, with all of their new-found infinite wisdom.
Glad I spent all that money on groups.
11/27/2013 08:01:00 AM
It was pretty much that way when I left 4 years ago.Capt or another Lt in District on your watch, you are not bid, pack your bags.Field Lt was unheard of even then.I think I worked as a W/C in all but 5 Districts in this city before leaving.I'm a south sider and had to mapquest 020.It wasn't that bad, but not knowing the players in the stations or out on the streets sucked. The out of area pay was not worth it.
Stay Safe Boys & Girls.I pray for you every night.

Not True.
Sgt. Jellyroll in 025/1st Watch failed Part 1 of the lieutenant's exam.
She kept hitting the breakfast buffet at the Lane Tech testing site and could not finish the test that day.
How bout all dem suckas who spent $900 on Bernstein and hours and hours studying. Waaaaaaaaaaah
11/27/2013 02:03:00 PM
Wait until the results for part 2 come out before you make the Waaaah. The PO's that studied hard for part 1 now have to only concentrate on part 2. The PO's that are starting their studying now are skrewed. I guess in 8 years they can try again.
Serious question here. Doesn't FOP get have a copy of every promotional list with who made it by score and who made it by merit? Can those lists be acquired thru FOIA either from FOP or directly thru CPD?
Pension reform expected to pass in Springfield next week. Nobody knows the contents of the Bill but Madigan is lobby Democrats to vote for the Bill. Less benefits, 410k component, older minimum age to retire are rumored parts of Bill. What is Shields and FOP doing about it. I'll tell you nothing.

You "refused"? Interesting. Sounds like someone was just begging you to "PLEASE ALL-KNOWING ONE!! PLEASE TAKE THE TEST! WE NEED YOU TO TAKE THE TEST!" If you think anyone anywhere gives a f*ck that you decided to make some kind of statement of protest, you are not only an idiot, but most likely the watch a-hole who rants about how "it's all bullshit". Fine, you didn't want to compete in the only system-flawed as it may be- we currently have for promotions. Great. Nobody was anxiously looking for you on test day. But good for you! REFUSING to take the test.
they just met with the company that gave the test this week to decide what the passing score would be. I don't know what they came up with but I do know they did meet with that company at HQ this week for that purpose.
Hmm . . . . let me see a blind leading a blind . . . . would be the same as a moron leading a moron. Hilarious!!!! Awesome police department, only in Shitcago!
seriously , cpd needs more sgts
one lt per area , per watch is one to many lts
let the lts run the district or units . give them a car and lt pay , with week ends off, they are qualified to do it
captains /xo's are lts with extra clout , let them run areas on all 3 watches , let's save pension fund and get rid of our current command / exempt merit promoted leaders
Hi people, Missy here, and Happy Hanukkah to all.
Yes people, I am still dating Gerry but wish he did not park the wrong way in front of my house in Bucktown. I think it happens when he has more then his usual one beer. Boy... he does like his Walgreen mint mouth wash. He buys it by the case.
I got 11 cats and he loves theem too and once one of the cats drank his mouth wash and was jumping around so super-duper.
Yes people, I am not writing parkers on Wabash cause Gerry wants me around to advise him how the cpd would get better suggestions. When I am promoted next month to sgt, my people will be writing parkers by the case full.
That woman that dislikes me and is the head of Alpha girls been sneaking around headquarters wanting to come back as a advisor. No way Jose !
Got to make more latekes for Gerry now.

Dont know about Flores but those other names were definitely meritorious.
2 final Sgt classes from current list. 1st class of 40 sergeants. Next year final class of 20 sergeants.
Inside 35th street
I scored a 43.5 See u later success I got my white shirt pressed and ready to go thanks to all of the above hahaja!
You get 15 % alone just for getting your name and information right good luck to all who need to get the other 28 %.....
Good thing it's higher than the previous sgt. Exams!

No, about 70 or 80 failed, they wanted the Union to sue. Due to the fact that they believed everyone that took the first part of the test would pass.
43% means that more than half the time these freaks make the wrong decisions on jobs.... And now they will be sergeants... Remember that next time you want to call for a supervisor to make a decision for you...
I likw how so many people get hired by the Chicago Police Department, knowing full well the history of the CPD and the City, and then cry because every goddamned thing is rigged. That's funny. What did you expect? That all the years of talk about clout was all rumors and bullshit? You come on the police department and then cry it isn't legit. You fucking saps.
Next you will be screaming for a federal investigation of pro wrestling and roller derby. Awww, it isn't fair. Blow me.
Studied my balls off back in the day for Sgt and Det. Tests. Retired in a blue shirt. Wasn't meant to be as t wife said. Not so old retired guy from 2012. Go MC!
Sorry to disappoint but Flores DID make it legit, she was number 10 on the list. Book smart just doesn't have any sense or people skills.
. . .Yeah, book smart. I worked in Unit 610 back when Linda was a "Detective". Are we talking "Harlequin" romance novel-book smart, because then I'd have to agree.

Thanks for your profound thoughts, Patrolman For Life. What's the matter, couldn't make it as a PO in some suburb so you decided to be the CPD and bring all that wisdom with you? Your babblings are idiocy. Maybe it's time for you to complete those last two years of college at Lewis.
Why do people insist on making a Sergeant's job out to be something equivalent to a nuclear scientist? By far the avearage beat cop has to make far more important, on the spot immediate decisions. Decisions that can cost lives, maybe their own.
Let's see. I have a po involved in an accident after a chase. What do I do? Well, look it up per GO/ S/O if you can't get the answer from a fellow white shirt.
We need good leaders of men and administrators. The test system doesn't elicit that. Yes, I passed according to the scan sheet. (74).
We have been running the watches per order for over a year, we were running the watches for decades while captain or lieutenant did very little work . Rahman knows it. Time to have lieutenant run district patrol and captains run areas . End the bs exempt ranks and fund our pension.

so you are saying that our department is going to deploy our lieutenants like substitute teachers? haha what will they do next? i suppose they already treat us like children because they expect us to write essays because we didn't listen to the teacher.(translation: we did not enforce a quota for their numbers game so we had to write a to/from indicating why we refused to break the law.)
must have college to take the test? 43% score is needed?are you smarter than a fourth grader?the promotion is yours my friend!
So...
The basement has no floor?
Fucking pitiful... Some merit hack(s) cut the low score in question so the floor was set so damn low to ensure they get made?
We're witnessing the very death of Chicago Policing as any worthwhile pursuit in this town.
Oh well... Majority rules and this is the foolishness that the majority thinks won't haunt them in the future when CPD has become so totally full up to the ceiling with people with no clue as to Peal's Principles of Policing or the ability to read, interpret and apply criminal law.
What was that line from years back?
Something about there's no room on CPD for people who can actually thing?
Shaping up to be pretty true... YOu know how this mayor and police ceo (can't bring ourselves to place the word "Superintendent" anywhere near his name) have disdain for people who can think for themselves.
Sorry to disappoint but Flores DID make it legit, she was number 10 on the list. Book smart just doesn't have any sense or people skills.
Read: "Some of the others may have been also but still had clout."
That's why you do poorly on tests. Linda has clout, a judge....
This is all bullshit. I know someone who works for I/O solutions.
He said everyone under 75 will fail the first part and there will be very few people taking the second part. He also said there has been no interference from the city or the department in how they grade the test. The city is completely hands off and that way they protect themselves from the future lawsuit.
I have news for all the people who think they had clout. No one gives a shit about you anymore.
Sorry to disappoint but Flores DID make it legit, she was number 10 on the list. Book smart just doesn't have any sense or people skills.
She is not a field Lt in a district either is she...
Proud to have helped so many

Well, I refused too. Since we all know its bullshit, wouldn't it be interesting if everyone refused to take it? Might that send a message? Of course it will never happen, but, what would they do then? An interesting concept to think about. Kind of like VRI, which I won't dwell on. If no one did it, might they have to hire more?
At this point in the JOB (I don't call it a career, thanks) I don't feel like being on 1st watch for the next 10 years, 20 miles away from home. Not to mention being a manager on a sinking ship. But, if that's your thing, go for it!
If I score a 43%, is that the same as winning the tallest midget contest?
flores made it without clout
now name another minority that made commander or captain without a merit bump to det , sgt, or lt

Completely agree alot of these young coppers are stuck in a shit district anyway all they would do is throw on a white shirt and make 10g's more a step up for sure. The northside kids would get a rude awakening reporting to the 005th district on mids.Either way phone calls will be made and the hacks will land softly.
Whats up with 025? If u don't have enough time for 3rd watch and get dumped to midnights thats pretty much the norm in any other district in the city. Yep, I wish I was a perfect old timer like you.
This just in:
The rumor Floating around 35th St. is that the Bronx bulldog Wants the passing score for the first part to be 70% to 75% we will see if he gets it!
He Just had a recent meeting with IO solutions , Maybe he'll settle for 72%.
He also wants to move up the qualifying number for the entry-level police officer.
Stay tuned.
you know I really like the bond that we have as officers. the way he we hate on each other and all the smart comments that we have for those that are trying to advance. why do we down each other all the time. yes the system has flaw but don't destroy the hope of all the cops that chose to strive for advancement despite of that. to be honest...that's the cop I want on the side of me; not the one who chose to bow down and submit because of a few flaws in the system. yes people get promoted by being given the position, but the majority of our leadership tested, passed and obtained their rank the right way. great job. so lets get back to brotherhood and stop downing each other.
