Wait, so the assholes, dope dealers, gang bangers, shooters, armed robbers, etc. that we lock will be able to park right next to my car? They'll be able to see what I drive? They'll be able to get my plate number? They'll be able to vandalize, key, scratch, ding, flatten my tires, etc to my personal car? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Meanwhile, the sheriffs and judges will still have their secured lots?

We'll let me ask you this SCC.....

I recently caught a convicted felon with a loaded firearm. His conviction was from a handful of years ago, and he served IDOC time for it. Well when I caught him with ANOTHER loaded pistol, the CCSAO refused to approve charges for UUW/Felon......because "due to recent changes in the law, his first felony UUW conviction should have only been a misdemeanor, so he he's not considered a felon in the eyes of the state right now." So ultimately they rejected charges and he took a misdemeanor no FOID charge. And I've heard this is happening fairly frequently.

Sooooooo

Using that logic......

Am I entitled to get the money back that I have paid to park at juvie court over the last amount of time?

I mean, if you can retroactively wipe away a felons background because laws have changed, then the same rules should apply to the decent people going to court for work. If we don't have to pay now, then RETROACTIVELY, we never should have! Just saying!

Yes it does, but at Juvenile Court they get a monthly rate.
If you are in private industry, you usually pay for parking wherever you work. Unless you take the bus or train employees who work downtown dont have their parking paid for by the employer.

Yea, po's say at the Skokie courthouse could be picking death certificates or childrens birth certificates, maybe divorce or civil court proceedings. There are plenty of reasons to be at a courthouse.

That letter does not include Juvenile Court. It is very specific about 26th st, Bridgeview,Skokie,Markham,Rolling Meadows and maybe one more, but says nothing and does not include Juvenile Court. Pretty basic reading Maybe they can add an amendment or another letter, but right now no it doesnt include Juvy

I heard on the Teamster Talk radio program that the County employees are having a grievance because parking is, under Illinois law, a matter to be bargained. If it was free before and now the employee had to pay, it has the effect of a pay cut. Maybe next they would install pay toilets!

Some of the suburban courthouses have offices other than those part of the judicial system. So the people going to Dept of Public Health at Markham or Maywood now have to pay to park? Hope they don't pass on those STDs to too many people before they come up with that $4.75

Juvy is a privately owned lot. Not owned by the county.
County wants to charge all county employees to park there including all sheriffs' employees. Deputies at the courthouses and officers from the jail. Our unions are trying to fight this during contract negotiations. If we have to pay to park when we go to work that should up our raises. The jail is building new secure posts around the compound shrinking the size of all of their Parking lots. They're trying to force them to park at the garage. The only shift that won't pay is the midnight shift. They park on the street for free and are gone by the time they the pay parking starts on the street.
I'm a deputy at the 26th courthouse and I do not want to pay to go to work. County will find ways to make everyone pay no matter what that damn paper says. Cops not in squad cars will have to pay. So make sure to grab that squad before you come.

The garage will not be secured with sheriff personnel. They're going to be lots of problems in those lots from now on. Especially at 26th street. Stabbings, shooting all kinds of shit going down. If your a cop with a nice car, it won't be nice any longer. Thank god I have a shitty Honda.

Never!!! I love VRI, stop complaining about it already. We cannot force the mayor to hire more Police, so just take advantage of it while you can like I do. Take a vacation that you normally wouldn't, treat your family to a great night out, pay down some bills, raise your deferred comp, or, buy yourself a sex toy and GFU and stop whining about people working VRI voluntarily!

How insulting is that? I know a few of the officers complained about it but as usual, he gets away with his insults. A funny side note, his girlfriend must have had him drink the Tequila.

Judge here.

I can't speak for what's happening at 26th and Cal, but my understanding is that the judges will be required to pay to park in the suburban courthouses. The county has been working to retrofit the parking garages for the past few months....can't imagine what it's costing them (errrr. us) and when they'll recoup their costs. Silly idea, but what worries me is that the state, county, and city officials and legislators continue to dream up ways to "tax" its' citizens over the objections of those citizens. Taxation without representation......didn't we start a revolution over this principle?

Maybe, maybe not. Garages and lots are licensed and isn't there some restriction about licensing lots within a certain distance from LAZ lots, or something like that?
Regardless, greasing the right wheels to get the license would probably be cost-prohibitive.

Preckwinkle -- doesn't want brown and black people in jail so she "taxes" the people who put them in jail with a parking fee. Maybe this is her way of deterring the police from arresting the browns and blacks. Maybe she thinks we will revolt against her parking fee by not arresting people.

I have to believe that if there is an issue of having to pay to park and it is a job related thing that there is some procedure in place for reimbursement. every private employer I know of has such a procedure. the city or county cannot be that unique.

CPD is not a private employer. There is no procedure to get paid for parking. If there was it would be in a department directive.
